About This Listing
This is a quiet and comfortable double-room with a private bath, so close to the beach you'll be lulled to sleep by the surf! The large, airy house was built by my father on a hand-picked location in Itamambuca, one of the best beaches in Ubatuba.
This is a quiet, comfortable, and spacious room with a private bath and wifi, so close to the beach you'll be lulled to sleep by the surf! The roomy, airy house was built by my father on a hand-picked location in Itamambuca, one of the best beaches in northern São Paulo. Get ready for lots of lots of sun, green, blue skies, and awesome waves!
Note: if you want to bring the kids or friends, get in touch! There are three more rooms available, two of which are equipped with bunk beds.
The bedroom is equipped with two beds (sheets provided), and a large three-partition wardrobe fully available for your use. It has a private bathroom (towels provided) with a good shower, bidet, and all the necessary amenities, including hot water ;). Though you can't see it for the intervening flora, it faces the ocean, and opens to a wooden deck complete with hammocks, perfect for that afternoon doze.
There's wifi in the room!
This house was built and furnished to accomodate an extended family of 12 people, comfortably. When full, there is plenty of room for everybody to sit, eat, or lounge with relative privacy. It is partitioned in such a way so that people in the living room don't bother people in the bedrooms. The stone floors and high ceilings keep it cool in the warmest of weathers, and there's even a fireplace to take the edge off humid winter nights - though admittedly those are somewhat rare ;).
The kitchen is fully equipped and freely available to guests. For the meat-lovers, there's also a grill outside. If desired I can arrange for other meals in the house: for instance, on special occasions I can even get an Italian chef to come and cook you a candle-lit dinner!
There are beach umbrellas and chairs, as well as a couple of old surfboards I make available to guests.
Though there's no cable, for those rainy afternoons we have Netflix and a few movies, TV shows, old games and music on the TV. I can also get you board games (Bang and Settlers of Katan) or playing cards, if that's your thing.
Interaction with Guests
We'll probably be around when you're here - "we" is defined by two adults, a nine-year-old, and the family dogs. How much we interact is entirely up to you. ;)
Itamambuca is known as a surfer's paradise (the waves are great!), but it suits divers, runners, couples, and families just as well. The sand is soft enough for sand castles, but on low tides it's great for jogging or riding a bike. During summer the water gets warm and clear, but if you get tired of all that salt, there is a stream on each end, one of which you can kayak up (and maybe get a glimpse of the huge blue crabs native to the place).
If you're the adventurous type, you can also take a medium-grade 30-minute hike (or swim, on calm seas) through the jungle over to the neighbor deserted beach. I highly recommend taking a picnic and spending a few hours there. Some people find it hard to get to, but *everybody* finds it amazing. :)
And this is only the really close-by stuff! There's a lot more you can do in the region, such as boating, shopping, eating, fishing, diving, hiking, etc.
Though perfectly feasible, getting here on public transportation is not very comfortable, specially since you'll have to walk about a mile from the highway to the house. If you're coming from the airport, I recommend renting a GPS-enabled car. If you don't want to drive, there are alternatives to public transit: I can recommend third-party services.
Finally, with proper advance warning and a small surcharge, we'll be glad to pick you up to-fro the bus station in Ubatuba.
Other Things to Note
The house is:
* 50 meters (150 feet) from the beach
* 1.5 km (1 mi) from the nearest market
* 15 km (10 mi) from Ubatuba, the nearest city, where there's everything from a (really) fresh fish market to a McDonald's, from supermarkets to trinket fairs.
* 30 km (20 mi) from Ilha das Couves, a beautiful little island.
* 60 km (40 mi) from Parati, a famous (and also awesome) historical spot.
* 60 km (40 mi), in the other direction, from Ilha Bela, another cool island, though bigger and more civilized.
* 235 km (150 mi) from the nearest international airport (Guarulhos International).
* Don't smoke indoors. There are plenty of covered outdoor areas for that.
* No loud noises after 22:30, unless we agree unanimously to have a party. :)
* If you want to bring a pet, we're specially fond of dogs, specially well-behaved ones.
If you are looking for a relaxing place in the middle of a small tropical paradise Adolfo's house is just the right address!
Me and my husband stayed 5 days in his house and we couldn't wish for more: the place is clean, spacious, nicely furnished, surrounded by a pretty garden and most of importantly of it all only 50m away from the beautiful beach. All you need is getting your bathing suit, grab some things to eat and you are ready to spend the rest of the day chilling at the beach.
Adolfo is a great host, very easy going, a pleasant person to talk to, who tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He gets out of his way to help you when you need and had always some good tips about places to eat or to visit.
All in all we can highly recommend to stay in his house and will definitively try to come back one day!
I was visiting an old friend in Brazil and we wanted to spend a few days at the beach. We found Adolfo's house on Airbnb. It is just as wonderful in real life as it is in the photos. It's a lovely home and a very quick walk to a beautiful beach. Adolfo speaks impeccable English is a very charming host. There were a couple of other guests staying at the same time as we were there and we all got on famously. Adolfo was the right blend of host without being too much in our business. He even offered to take us to a nearby waterfall and showed us a terrific restaurant with an amazing view.
He warned us that the roads in his Itamambuca neighborhood were in pretty bad shape and and that was definitely the case. But don't let that put you off - it's really just a short bit on the rough road.
Itamambuca was a gorgeous beach and Adolfo's house was the perfect way to see it. It was a terrific airbnb experience.
We loved to stay with Adolfo. The rating system provides us with five possible stars, but we need MORE. Besides all the usual stuff with great location, communication etc., what makes this place special is Adolfo. He is a perfect host and went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible and we ended up spending a lot of time together. The house is a dream: spacious, clean and right next to the beach. ***Thanks Adolfo for the great stay, lending us your surfboards and bike. You are more than welcome to stay with us when you come to Germany. Abraço Jens+Stefanie***
PS: We finally got cash in Foz de Iguazu ;)
