About this listing
We live in a lovely part of County Clare. Our house is seven years old, warm, bright, dry, and very private. It offers 360º views stretching for miles over the surrounding countryside, with Mt. Callan in the distance. The surrounding countryside is mostly stone walls, green pastures and some sheep or cattle. We are at the end of a 400 ft driveway that leads off a mile-long road with only two houses on it. At the end of our drive is Anfield House, a centuries old farm owned by the Neylon’s. It is all very picturesque and very authentic. And it is very quiet.
The room we are offering is very private, on the entry level of a two-story house. The room has its own private bathroom and shower. The bed is a full-size double with a Tempurpedic mattress. Since we are vegans we do not offer a typical Irish fat feast. Breakfast will consist of organic oatmeal (made from organic groats and steel-cut oats), organic fruit, organic nuts, and Roz's wonderful bread (made from fresh-ground wheat or rye berries) with our own homemade jams and marmalade.
We have a complete old-school style gym on the premises, in its own cottage. David is a certified personal trainer and can offer a morning workout with free weights (dumbbells and barbells with appropriate racks), kettlebells, rings and other fitness paraphernalia. There is a €10 charge for a 45” workout, starting with stretching and yoga, and according to your level of fitness and desired intensity.
We have a small dog (25 lbs). Olive the Wonder Dog is a collie mix with long silky hair. She is friendly, quiet, and intelligent. She is mad for Frisbees, is not a nuisance. Olive is non-threatening, clean, and non-shedding. She is never permitted in the guest room. And Roz is a clean freak.
I play flute and concertina and can recommend friendly local sessions. We do not accept smokers under any conditions. We are at the center of a circle made by Doolin, Lisdoonvarna, Kilfenora, Ennistymon, Lahinch and Liscannor. These famous traditional music sites are within five miles. We are 12 miles from Miltown Malbay and 17 miles from Ennis.
There is one rule that we must insist on. Since we have a water cistern in the attic that refills v e r y slowly we appreciate guests taking quick showers. If the cistern is run dry -- which has happened -- we have to call a plumber to bleed the lines of air and we lose all water until then. Showers are fine and hot, and we have a system with a pump that makes the showers very strong and lovely. But taking a long shower is just not an option. Sorry.
