Romantic, typical country house in Assisi. Wonderful location, inside the Subasio Park. Ideal as a starting point to visit Assisi and Umbria, it (email hidden). on the sea level. Built using stones in the '50, it has a surprising characteristic: the water in the house is slightly naturally sulphorous. Charming and romantic, it is isolated enough to enjoy the silence and peace of the forest, although well connected to get to Assisi town center in 10 minutes drive.
The country house is just 50 metres far from a waterfall of the River Tescio, ideal for bathing and relaxing. Its patio includes a table, chairs and parasol for breakfast outdoors.
Wi-Fi and parking free.
"La Zuppa inglese" is easily found: coming from Assisi, take the road to Gualdo Tadino (SP 444); 5 km. out of Assisi, at km.26 of the road, take a right, direction Santa Maria di Lignano; once on the road to Santa Maria di Lignano, after about 2 km take a right at the crossroad, and after 400 m. you will find on your right a small road that goes right into the woods literally. That is the entrance of La Zuppa inglese b&b.
What an amazing place! Like paradise. So beautifully decorated, with simplicity and taste, and tucked away in a little valley that feels wonderfully remote despite only being 7km from Assisi. We were surrounded by oak forest and meadows, and only a hundred metres or so from a waterfall with a swimmable pool beneath. The kids had so much fun being in the country again and we heard an owl outside our bedroom window on a couple of nights. We all enjoyed having a spacious but quite luxurious bedroom and a bathroom for each bedroom. The kitchen is downstairs from the rooms and dining room but was well equipped with cooking equipment (although no basic food staples). We spent a lot of time on the sunny patio during the day and used the outdoor wood barbecue on one night. Laura is truly a lovely host, very kind and helpful but discrete - she cooked us a super Zuppa Inglese for our first night. I would wholeheartedly recommend this little hideaway to anybody wtih a car and a taste for rural life.
