We had to move suddenly from our accommodation due to another booking, and hence were looking for something else closeby. The flat was only a street away and I was keen to see it before deciding which I was told that I couldnt due to airbnb rule. I would suggest to airbnb to change this rule. Evrim herself was very responsive to our questions and very kind and polite. However the room itself was not ready when we got there though this was rectified. I had especially checked that it would be ready as my aged parents were with me. The experience at the hotel was friendly but the room itself is ridiculously small. Also the heating didnt work, the room faces a wall, and the got water didnt work. Additionally the door didnt lock properly either. The room itself came with a thin blanket which was inadequate for the cold - and this was in summer. I hate to think what they give in winter. I wrote to Evrim who was immediately responsive (literally 1 minute later) and called the recption to ask for a duvet, to switch heating and hot water on. This was done by them but they would only provide me with a bedsheet rather than duvet or blanket. Evrin kindly spoke to them again, but by this time it was very late at night and my parents were asleep. The heating came on but the room was still freezing and the chap at reception at night looked extremely unhappy about having to do anything. We were booked in for 4 days but moved out after 2 as my parents literally froze in the room. Additionally the sofa-bed was the most uncomfortable i have slept on ever. The lower part came up and the upper part down and so my back was always arched. I wonder if the other reviewers who said it was very comfortable slept on a different sofa. Must say that it was one of the most uncomfortable stays of my life and I would not recommend that anyone stays in this particular property.
The flat is located very centrally close to the major public transportation hub Taksim. It is clean and towels, sheets and some kitchen equipment as well as tea & coffee, fruits, and a bottle of water were provided. We stayed for 5 nights with 3 people and had a very good experience. The staff at the reception is very kind and helpful, speaking several languages fluently. The only disadvantage is that the apartement faces the street: the night club nearby and activity in the street can be a bit noisy at times. With earplugs no problem, though.
Great apartment, but...
We book this apartment du ring 5 nights for a first trip in Isranbul.
Firstable, it's very easy to go (tram or bus) and to find this apartment. The location is next to the Istiklal street and a nice antique dealers area. You can find all facilities (backer's, supermarcket).
We didn't see Irvrin but at the reception of the flat, we had keys and informations about wifi access, etc...
The apartment was clean and conform at the description.
Unfortunaly, in front of the building, there are an disco club whose put the music heavy ...
To conclude, pleasent apartment but a little expensive.
This apartment does have a great central location, and was quite tidy + clean. However, the unit could be improved by providing better WiFi (the signal was quite weak unless you stood by the front door), fixing the floor drain + fan in the bathroom (floor drain smells every couple of days and fan makes a terrible noise when turned on), and providing some more supplies for longer term guests (toilet paper, garbage can, etc).
We were a bit disappointed in the apartment overall, due to its description on Airbnb - calling it a "2 bedroom" with 2 different views is actually not accurate. It's a small 1 bedroom with a foldout couch in the living room, and both windows look out over an alley/courtyard. The living room window primarily looks out at the wall (and the well placed photo prints), you can not see a "calm street". Also there is no dining room table that seats 4 people, nor are there any chairs (or space for chairs). I think if the description were more accurate, we wouldn't have had such high hopes for the place. Perhaps the apartment has been changed since the Airbnb description was written...?
Overall, we had a nice stay and none of these items ruined our trip - as I said, the location was great and everything was clean, which are the most important things. But we did end up not feeling like we got a great deal on the apartment, due to the issues above.
I have provided this feedback to Evrim already, and she indicated they would take care of it - so it may well be fixed up already. Evrim was quite nice and easy to deal with - nothing against her, I guess we just had higher hopes for the apartment.
The trip was perfect, by any account. It started with an very quick answer to my request, an offer for a airline transfer and a meeting in the city closed to the apartement (which is located very central, 2 minutes walk to the Istiklal Caddesi) with the host (resp. a substitute, 'cause Evrim had an arrangement with the airbnb Video Team).
The apartement was clean, when we arrived, we got information for WiFi access and other stuff immediately, there where no troubles. The apartement is located in the second floor, and there are enough opportunities to lock it.
The bathroom offers everything I needed, was also clean, worked very well and conforms european standards. Also the kitchen fulfilled our needs, it is small, but there is everything you need for a short trip (fridge, microwave oven, and enough dishes/pots/pans).
I was sleeping on the sofa, which was also very comfortable. No back complaints after 5 nights! There are lots of international TV channels, TV works very well also.
Checkout worked without any problems as well. Evrim is great host, I just can recommend the flat and the host. She works hard in offering a nice stay, if I come back to Istanbul, I hope this apartement will available!
Price is absolutely okay!
