Best place to rest after long walks in the middle of New York City.
My place is very clean, quiet and cozy with hardwood floors, new appliances and large curtained windows. There are 2 bedrooms with shared bathroom, hallway and a kitchen. Your room is furnished with a large and comfortable couch which folds out into a QUEEN-SIZE BED, standing decorated shelves, mirror, and a laptop stand that also can be used as small table. Your room is small, but completely private, with the door that you can lock, and can accommodate up to 2 people, who don't mind shearing the bed.
The apartment is on 5th floor with no elevator (like most of NYC's apartments) , so keep your luggage light if you don't mind walking.
I am usually home every evening during weekdays. I sleep in the other bedroom.
The following will be provided:
Bed sheets and bedding (100% cotton)
Large feather pillows
Fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, oven, microwave and electric tea kettle
Looking forward to hearing from you and hope your stay here will be the most enjoyable and relaxing ever!
I keep it very easy for my customers.
You will have your own set of keys.
You don't have to depend on me at all. The keys are downstairs in the locker. The locker is black and looks like an old lock. It hangs on the fence of the steps to the laundry on your left side if looking at the apartment door right outside. I will give you the combination upon booking. I only ask to leave the keys in the same locker when you leave.
Interaction with Guests
Your arrival and departure times are completely flexible. You can leave your luggage in my hallway and pick it up at your convenience.
As you might know, Upper East Side neighborhood is one of the safest area of NYC. You can easily walk around at night and never be in danger. Tons of restaurants, bars, shopping places and most importantly -minutes walk to the middle of Central Park and 5th Ave. Major Museums are within a few blocks as well.
The subway -
Local 6th train (77th and Lexington ave)
Express 5th and 4th trains (86th street and Lexington ave).
Subway all trains (4, 5 and 6 trains) – 3 blocks walking distance
Buses (including Crosstown Bus) – 1 block distance
Taxi – everywhere around
Other Things to Note
I'll give you advise on food shopping, restaurants and things to see in NYC. I am a traveler myself, so I try to keep your vacation/trip as pleasant as possible.
I would like to see your picture prior to making arrangements. The most important rule - ENJOY YOURSELF AT MY PLACE!!!! :)
Usamos el apartamento sin ninguna restricción. Aunque es chico no necesitamos mas lugar ya que lo usamos para dormir nada mas.
SUCH A GREAT PLACE. Seriously - in the best neighbourhood, only a 2 minute walk to 5th Avenue, Madison, Lexington, and Central Park. Nice and quiet, room exceptionally clean and warm. Kate was lovely, made sure we got in without any hassle. Would definitely stay here again.
The room is exactly as described: small and cozy. A big yes for the heating (very important in the winter months). Finding the key is definitely a thing, but is also an adventure. Kate was a lovely host, we didn't get to see her much because she leaves the apartment early, but she was really nice with us and left all the indications very clear.
We totally recommend this place because of the perfect ubication and nice neighbourhood.
Overall, a very nice stay.
First, the good: Kate was a great host, even though we didn't see her much. We stayed during a work week, so she was usually gone before we woke every day and in bed by the time we got in.
But our first day, she gave a few restaurant recommendations and even showed us where her teapot was. She was warm, friendly, and responded quickly to any questions.
As others have noted, her room is very small, and the apartment has little in terms of living space, but when you're starting on the upper east side, Manhattan is your living room.
The (not much) bad: my only quibble with the room is temperature. A boiler pipe for the whole building runs through the room, so if it's a cold night and the building's heat is on, you will roast a little. Kate's posting says she has air conditioning, but we couldn't find a window unit (granted, one may have escaped our notice -- we were out of the apartment more than in it. If you're a temp-sensitive sleeper like I am, however, that may be hard at first. We slept with Windows open every night (and it was cold out so that was quite nice, after we got the room cooled down initially).
Overall: that said, we would definitely stay with Kate again. You simply cannot beat location, and hers is almost as good as it gets. Just a couple minutes from the subway, 3 blocks from the Met art museum and central park, and surrounded with great dive bars and restaurants.
Upper Manhattan needs better coffee, but that's hardly Kate's fault!
Kate was very accommodating and easy to live with! The bedroom was comfortable, and everything was super clean. It's a perfect space for someone spending time in Manhattan who travels lightly. She was also very sweet and friendly!
We met Kate late and it's our regret because she's very friendly! She answered us very quickly to accept our booking and made us feel at our own home. Despite the small size of the room (but we had 2 big luggages) and the fact that she has many stuff in her bathroom, we spent a very nice beginning of holidays thanks to her. Plus she allowed us to use her fridge and offered you some tea! Her apartment is ideally located in a very nice area, where you can easily find some food, and things to do. The subway is 7mn by walking. We really appreciated the proximity of Central Park. Kate, thanks to you once more for your trust and your kindness! Hope we'll meet you again in NYC or Paris!
