Nice house located in a bohemian neighborhood, 10 - 15 min walking distance from San José downtown and 15 min walk to San pedro (Universidad de Costa Rica)
Love art and design as clean organized spaces.
Big bedroom with double bed -mattress for 1 more if needed, lots of sun light through a window wall that gives access to a little indoor patio.
Fully equipped Kitchen, laundry room with Dryer available.
What to expect?
A nice clean place, good vibes, warm friends, open minded people. Art all around. Peace. Security. Comfort.
Located in Barrio Escalante, a very nice neighborhood, surrounded by restaurants, bars, yoga schools and the University of Costa Rica's main (email hidden) place for running and walking.
Taxis 24/7 with service at the door. Cheap buses. Walking distance from San Pedro, San Jose, Yoses, Guadalupe.
You're welcome to use our kitchen as if yours, our small but comfy living room and the garage in front where we keep our table and chairs for hosting all our friends who come by for a coffee or to say hi, you're always welcome to join us
We're very social, we treat our guests as friends that we welcome in our city so we try to take you along in our social activities such as going out for a walk, a drink, dinner or also by hanging out at home, sharing wine, beers or any other relaxation elixirs :)
We love our neighborhood, is eclectic and vibrant yet full of history, lots of options for food & drinks, restaurants, bars and cafès all very close to our home. Barrio Escalante used to be one of San Jose's old residential parts but when the city grew it became surrounded within it and it's mostly wealthy home owners emigrated to the outskirts of the city, now it's gone through some changes that made it a new hot place for city living
Taxis from San Jose downtown cost around $4 (2000 colones)
There's a bus that passes every 15 minutes from and to San Jose/San Pedro thru Barrio Escalante. There's also a bigger bus stop a few blocks from home with buses to Cartago, Turrialba, Sabanilla, etc.
The Atlantic train station is 5 - 10 minutes walking distance with trains to Heredia, Cartago and La Sabana.
We could not have imagined a happier welcome to Costa Rica than the one from Juanjo and Oscar. We arrived late and they treated us like friends and helped us comfortably settle into both their home and the country. The place is in a neat but quiet area that feels very safe and the art in the house adds very much to the character.
Highly recommended for relaxed travelers that want a real connection with their hosts. Hope to cross paths with J&O again!
Hi, we stayed 3 nights at Juanjo's flat.
I did not meet them personally, however communication was ok and they were really nice in giving all necessary info.
Flat is nice, however the bed is pretty small for 2 people and the flat is a bid fare from the center.
Oscar and Juan were both very welcoming. They ensured we were in contact upon us landing to ensure we did not get lost and were able to meet them. Once arrived they gave us a tour of their lovely place and also provided us places to see, eat and drink at which is all walking distance from their home. When we come back to stay at San Jose we will def stay here with them and explore some more :)
Juan and Oscar are very nice hosts. They gave me a very warm welcome and I felt home imediately. The place is easy to find and the area safe to walk around. You can find little restaurants, bars and shops right around the corner. Both of them were very helpful in recommending me things to do and where to walk and not.
Thanks a lot and hope to see you in Berlin!
We spent our final night in Costa Rica with Juan & Oscar. It was a great way to say goodbye to a beautiful country. The apartment is beautiful and the hosts are very sweet. The room is huge and we couldn't ask for anything more.
Juanjo and Oscar were amazing hosts! Walking into their house was such a pleasure- we were greeted by colorful walls and fashionable art. For a vibrant time in San Jose, you want to stay with them as they will take you to farmers markets, the bar district in San Pedro, and be willing to share their lives with you!
Also of note is the little cafe next to their home for an affordable lunch as well as the fruit juice and plantain snack they made for us.
The house was very easy to find on our GPS system and in a central location. It was our first stop and definitely kicked off the trip well!
great people...we had a lot of fun.
Conveniently located in a nice neighborhood these guys have a really nice place to stay...I loved it and I warmly recommend it!
We´ve stayed at Juanjo and Oscars place for our first three nights in Costa Rica. Both are really nice and welcome :) and the place is really comfortable and clean. The boys make you feel at home all the time and even though they're both living there its not like that you have to hang around with them but you should cause its fun :). Definitely two really good hosts and a place to go again . Thank you !
These guys were great! Their home has a very nice energy and they took time to give me recommendations and come to a yoga class with me!
I will stay here again next time I'm in San Jose :)
