About This Listing
For ocean views and location you can not get better value for your dollar!
Fantastic ocean views from every room. Walk in the front door and you are immediately struck with the beauty of it all! Terrific views and great furnishings.
This condo on the south fringe of downtown Kailua-Kona on The Big Island of Hawaii is within walking distance to all the hot spots. Yet it is a block off the main street so it's fairly quiet. On a hill and three stories up (no elevators) you look over the tops of the ocean front places. From the living area you can see the most spectacular panoramic ocean views from early morning to end of the day sunsets.
You will enjoy gentle ocean breezes as you watch from the bar height table and chairs next to the sliding glass door opening off the small balcony. There is also air conditioning behind the curtain in the living room for your comfort if you should need it.
This Kona Mansions condo #C-309 is located near the Coconut Grove Marketplace and across the street from the Royal Kona Resort, just a ways up Walua Rd. You may find Don's in the Royal Kona Resort & Huggo's on the Rocks next door a great place for 'happy hour' Mai Tais. Allot of these places have WiFi but we put WiFi in the condo too so you don't have to go out to get connected. It is secure with it's own password. Beach access from the unit is only a few steps away and about a five minute walk to Honel's beach.
Enjoy the Farmers Market and Historic District of town and all Alii Drive: its action and fantastic ocean front views, morning to night. You'll find parasailing, scuba, submarine, whale watching, and other water-sport tours at the docks.

Just help yourselves into the condo using the lock box keys by the door. There will be a flashlight on the box if you arrive after dark. Combination will arrive when booking is complete with full instructions.

Interaction with Guests
Bruce & Fern live in Hilo but drive Saddle Road over to attend to the condo. They give it a fresh make-over for each guest.
Though the view makes this rental extra-special, it is a beautifully decorated, tastefully furnished Condo, that is comfortable in every way. The building is across the street from the beach access walk, so the sand and surf are literally a short walk away. The Alii Drive Shopping District is within walking distance, also, including many of the famous Kona restaurants and attractions. Walk a little further, and you'll find parasailing, scuba, submarine, whale watching, and other water-sport tours at the docks.
Trolley service along Alli Dr and public bus transport called Heleon. See schedule in quest book at condo or check on-line.

Our stay at Fern and Bruce's condo was absolutely spectacular! Since our other place had an early check out time, Fern and Bruce were very considerate and flexible and let us have an earlier check in time. They were excellent communicators and answered any questions we had within hours. The location was perfect- close enough to walk to restaurants in downtown Kona, yet far enough where you got some good exercise. (You gotta work off those mai tai's somehow!)The condo was well stocked and very clean- although we didn't spend as much time there as we would have liked, we would go back any day! Mahalo!
We enjoyed our stay for a week at the condo-Kona!
Everything we needed was there which was very helpful and the condo was pretty clean!
The location was perfect. The ocean is within three minutes walk and there are lots of places to eat near by. We would love to come back here again in the future. I strongly recommend this place!
Bruce and Fern's place was wonderful to say the least. The location was ideal and the apartment was the perfect size for myself and my parents. We loved having the kitchen to cook in and they had all the beach toys you could want for a stay in Kona. Having a parking spot was also very convenient. I will definitely be recommending this place!
It was a wonderful trip! The apartment is in a nice and very convenient condo building, with a dedicated parking spot and every facility I need. I walked to the bar/restaurant area a few times to get quick bites and rent snorkeling gears. Fern and Bruce also nicely provided beach chairs, umbrella, snorkeling gears and boogie boards that we can borrow. Eating poke bowls at the ocean view dining table is definitely a bliss. I strongly recommend this place!

About the Host, Fern And Bruce
Bruce and Fern have lived on the Hilo side of the "Big Island or Hawaii Island" in Hawaiian Acres since 2000. Fern Grotto cottage vacation rental is only 7 miles away. In 2011 they bought a condo on the west side in Kailua- Kona at Kona Mansions V. It has been a pleasure for them to host quests on both sides of the " Big Island". Bruce and Fern see to both Fern Grotto cottage and their Kona condo themselves. They are happy knowing guests arrive to a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Special touches given with care for their quests are present throughout.
It takes a good 21/2 hours to travel from one side of the Island to the other and with so much to see on both. Bruce and Fern suggest to anyone coming for the 1st time to stay both sides. More time in Kona if you are a sun-seeker, enjoy walking past shops and restaurants with great ocean breezes, views and white sandy beaches. On the East side stay at least 2-3 days to see the Volcano National Park, waterfalls, rain forest (and yes Fern Grotto cottage does have a lava tube). Also a fun thing to do at night is to go to Volcano and view Halemaumau Crater from both the lodge and museum along the Kilauea Crater rim. Be sure to bring a fleece jacket for those cool evenings. Bruce and Fern provide umbrellas and flashlights at the cottage. Just some of those thoughtful touches your hosts think of!
Bruce and Fern have Fern Grotto cottage vacation rental on the east side and now the Kona Mansions condo also a vacation rental on the west side for everyone to enjoy!
