  • Norman was very nice and friendly. We had a great time talking to him! He was very organized and hospitable.

  • Norman is the greatest host you could ask for. He left everything we needed in his house and even more. He was willing to help anytime we needed it and even offered to bring our luggages to a metro station to go to the airport so we didn't have to carry them during the day with the kids as our flights were late in the evening. He made us feel really confortable. It kinda felt more like if we were at our friend's place. :) thanks again norman, we definately recommand your house and wish you the best for the future.

  • We had an absolute blast in D.C. and Norman's accommodations were beyond perfect for our family of five. We have three toddlers, and Norman went above and beyond for them - buying a brand new toddler bed for our youngest son and having "big kid" beds ready for our two oldest kiddos. Everything was super clean and the house was so inviting and relaxing. We especially appreciated the fact that we could park our family vehicle in the off-street private parking behind the house. The fridge was stocked, the neighborhood was friendly + quiet, and Norman went out of his way to show us around and make sure we felt welcome. Norman provided ready-to-use metro cards, maps + tourist information, and even gave my husband a tour of the neighborhood. Cannot recommend this place enough!

P.S. Our three kiddos walked around D.C. for three days straight telling anyone who would listen that they were staying at "Norman's House." They *loved* him!

  • Norman was an amazing host who went above and beyond! When we arrived in DC, he met us at the house, and he had everything we could possibly need ready for us. He had pamphlets and maps for the attractions, snacks and water stocked, and he even provided us with some reloadable metro passes just incase we needed them. Being from a small town we were a little worried about parking and getting to and from the Nationals game that we had tickets for. Norman actually drove us out to the site were he told us to park for the game. It was a great parking place, and it was free. The house is adorable and the people in the neighborhood were incredibly friendly. Norman had all types of games and movies for the family available (we didn't use them, but it was nice to know they were available). I can't really comment on using the bus or metro from the house since we had a rental car, but getting to down town was quick and easy from this location. Thank you, Norman for the wonderful experience!

  • If you read previous reviews and mine, it will become obvious that Norman is the key to success of this listing. Norman went above and beyond our expectations in making a family trip to DC pleasurable. His townhouse was clean and accurately presented. The private parking space in back was very welcome in an urban setting.

Prior to arrival, I was concerned about the neighborhood (within Anacostia) that is known to be a high crime area. However; the immediate neighborhood consists of well kept private homes that seem to be populated by long-term, friendly residents who, almost without fail, greeted us with warm hellos when walking to the nearby bus stop or while waiting for the bus.

When we entered Norman's home, we were greeted by a table full of local information, metro cards, and a large basket of snacks, tea, and breakfast foods. The refrigerator was stocked with an ample supply of bottled water and, when I mentioned Diet Coke to Norman, we returned from sightseeing to find that a twelve pack of Diet Coke had been added.

We elected to park our car in the gated space behind the house and solely use mass transit (bus to Metro). For weekends, it may have been preferable to drive to the tourist sites since traffic was minimal.

I especially appreciated the combination of central air-conditioning supplemented by individual units in the bedrooms. Washington can get pretty steamy in the summer but that won't be an issue here.

  • Norman is a fantastic host, offering accommodations that are exactly as depicted in the listing. The location was perfect for our needs as it was only a short drive downtown to all the attractions Washington has to offer. Parking was always available and the street is very well lit.

As others have noted, Norman leaves a wonderful care package that includes breakfast items as well as maps a brochures to help you make the most of your visit.

Norman, we can't thank you enough for helping to make our stay in DC exceptionally memorable.

  • We had a nice time staying here Norman is a great host. This is a good value if you don't want to stay in the city with the higher prices there. The subway is the way to go ! Just catch it to the city to see all the sights! So many to see ,we had a great time on DC.
    Thank you Norman

  • Great Location, Just off of Pennsylvania Ave a short distance with timed stoplights to the Mall. Not the Ritz but the Ritz doesn't have Norman. A great pad for the 3 of us and our 12 yr old grandson really enjoyed the stay. Norman was welcoming beyond the call of duty!

  • Norman was flexible with my arrival time even though I was running late. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights, and were comfortable the whole time. The place had more than we needed. All of the accessories made us feel at home, and we never felt like we forgot to pack something, because anything we would have needed was right there. We had to leave very early in the morning and that was accommodated as well.

  • My family had a wonderful stay in Washington DC! Norman provided a wonderul place to stay and was an excellent host! He went above and beyond our expectations by providing things that we did not anticapate and he was available at any time for questions or to help - he had some great booklets available for the METRO as well as geting around town.

It was nice to be able to go sightseeing around the city and then come back to a place that felt like home. Because we were able to bring our dog (the fenced in front yard was a wonderful plus!) our kids were much more comfortable than they would have been anywhere else.

On a personal level, Norman was a great host! He was very interactive with my family and my kids consider him one of the best things we experienced while in DC. I would highly recommend using Norman to everyone. Next time we are in DC we will definitely stay here again.
