Huckleberry Hide-a-Way
General Rules

Our cabin is located in Huckleberry Village in Sunshine Valley, located about 20 km east of Hope, BC off Highway #3 (Hope/Princeton Highway). If you google map Lakeside Drive, Hope, BC, you will get driving instructions.

Please note: We only rent out the cabins when we are in Sunshine Valley. As we are a gated area, we need to make arrangements ahead of a time to meet at the gate and let you in, show you to the cabin, give you a brief rundown and give you keys to the cabin and the gate. As there is limited cell service, it is important to arrange a time to meet at the gate ahead of time. The gate and our cabin are not close together, so it is important to be on time as we cannot contact you/or you us when we are at the gate.

To keep our cabin safe, clean and enjoyable, we ask guests to follow these basic rules.
We know that this list seems long, but most of these requests are just common sense.
We hope you have a great stay.

Guest terms and conditions limit the occupancy to 5 persons, this includes children and infants. The appropriate cabin is assigned and set up based on the original occupancy request at the time of your booking. If the occupancy is increased with less than 24 hours notice (to a maximum of 5 people), there will be a $30 charge to try and accomodate you.
Sorry no RV’s, campers or motorhomes may be parked on the premises for the purposes of extra sleeping capacity. There is only parking available for 1 vehicle at the cabin. There is overflow parking available at the end of the road.

Check-in time is negotiable, but must be prior to 8:00 pm because this is a gated area and arrangements must be made to gain entrance.

Check-out time is generally 12:00 unless previous arrangements have been made. Please put all dirty towels in the bathtub, make sure all garbage is in garbage bags and placed in garbage can outside. Please ensure all dishes that have been used are washed and put back. Our expectation is that the cabin be left in the same condition as when you arrive. Keys are to be returned to the owner. There will be a $50 charged against your damage deposit if the keys are not returned.

Basic Amenities – Wood burning stove, electric heater, stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee makers, barbeque, bbq utensils, dishes, flatware, utensils, pots & pans, color TV for the DVD player (no cable TV), emergency lantern, pillows & bed linens, blankets, 5 towels & washcloths, dish clothes and tea towels. Please note there is no maid service, but there is laundry facilities in the village.

The cabin also has a starter supply of coffee filters, basic spices, liquid soap, toilet paper, dish soap, matches, cleaner and garbage bags. A reasonable amount of propane for the barbeque & inside stove is supplied during your stay.

Guests Should Supply – Towels for use at the lake or park, (cabin towels are not to be removed from the premises for outdoor use) infant furniture (i.e. cribs, highchairs), toilet paper, coffee, foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, condiments and toiletries, (i.e. shampoo, soap). For those with small children, please ensure that you supply proper mattress covering in case of a bed-wetting accident. As our water comes from an above ground source, the FVRD recommends that our water is boiled before using. We have been drinking the water for the 10 years that we have been in the valley, but you might want to bring your own supply of drinking water.

Smoking – Absolutely no smoking in the cabin. Smokers are permitted to smoke outside & dispose of their cigarette butts in the proper supplied containers, (sand buckets) as even the dirt burns in the forest. Violation of this rule will result in immediate eviction & forfeit of the deposit & any monies paid.

Telephone and Internet Service - There is no landline or satellite/cable TV at the cabin. There is cellular service in the valley but can be spotty in some areas. The owner has a landline for emergency calls.

Fireplace – A reasonable amount of firewood during your stay will be supplied by the owner. No foreign materials (garbage) are to be burned in the fireplace. A short tutorial on the operation wood burning fireplace will be given by the owner upon your check-in.

Fires – There is a propane fire pit available (with 1 propane tank) for a charge of $30. Use of the bbq or stove propane tank is not permitted. Absolutely no open flame appliances or campfires or barbeques, other than those provided by the owner, are permitted on the property. Absolutely no wood burning fires are permitted on the property.

Noise – The cabin is for recreational use by individuals and families, although we encourage you to enjoy your stay, the cabin is not rented for the purpose of parties. As a courtesy to neighbours, please respect quiet time from 10:00 pm to 9:00 am. Absolutely NO LOUD PARTIES are allowed. Guests not abiding by this rule will be asked to leave the cabin with no return of rental.

Rental Duration and Rates – The cabin is available for rent by the day, week or month. Please contact us for weekly and monthly rates.

Pet owners will be financially responsible for damages. No more than 2 dogs (1 medium & 1 small). Dogs are not to be left at the cabin unattended. There is a $25 charge for 1 pet and $35 for 2 pets.

During winter months, snow tires are a must, 4x4 and/or chains can be needed depending on conditions.
