Amarilla Casita house rental is located in Vieques in El Destino. On a secluded hillside, you will enjoy the Caribbean breezes and wonderful views. You can lounge in your hammock or head for the beaches for a day of snorkeling and swimming. Amarilla Casita is a house rental reminiscent of old Cape Cod summer cottages and island homes of days gone by. Not unlike its northern counterparts, you will probably live on the spacious porch enjoying the views. Amarilla Casita is a wooden house, 22 x 24 feet with a 10’ X 30’ balcony, 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, 1 bathroom and living area with full kitchen, sitting in a one acre land lot. You can relax in the balcony, looking to the beautiful view to the north. Let yourself go, and relax, after a day in one of the many crystal water beaches that Vieques has to offer. Come and stay with us, and enjoy the true Caribbean experience.
We spent a lovely weekend at Amarilla Casita celebrating our anniversary with friends. The house is in a great location and feels very private. We enjoyed waking up to an incredible view each morning and having breakfast on the terrace. Although we didn't meet Gabriel, he was easy to contact and checked up on us during our stay via phone. I will definitely consider Amarilla Casita for a future trip to Vieques.
Everything was as described, the house was very private with nice breezes and a beautiful view.
Gabriel was a great host: quick and friendly in his replies. The house is very nice as well. Cheerful and sunny, it's located in a neighborhood that's quiet for Vieques--there are roosters, of course, but not nearby.
The hot water could be a little unreliable, but that didn't matter since the weather is so warm. More importantly, the internet is first rate, the best we've found on the island. (Gabriel has a second network, which kicks in whenever the first one gives out).
An excellent choice for a relaxed vacation.
I travelled all around Puerto Rico and Vieques with four other college aged friends. This was one of the three places we stayed at.
This was probably our favourite place to stay. The place is located on top of a hill with a secure gate in front is large enough to take vehicles through to park your car securely. The hammocks (2) on the porch were the best part. We ate meals and hung out a lot on the deck. There's also a BBQ on the porch if you would like to cook outside.
As far as the inside of the house, the kitchen was small but had all the essentials. There are two large comfy couches in the room. The bedrooms were fine. To get hot water in the shower there's a switch
to flip, you just have to give it five minutes or so. Bath towels and beach towels were both provided. The location of the house is two minute walk away from a commonly known convenience store (Columbo Mambo) that sells the basics, foods, beer/liquor, etc.
Vieques is absolutely beautiful. We rented a car for a day to see some of the further beaches. Otherwise, we hitched rides with the friendly locals nearly every time to the popular spots of Esperanza and Isabel. The culture of the island was rich with good music, art, and food. Locals greet tourists warmly. Would gladly stay again for sure.
Gabriel was not on the island but was easy to communicate with via text and email. He gave us great tips about beaches and answered promptly when we had questions. His brother, who lives on the island, has his business next door at the bottom of the hill and was also friendly and helpful. We sprung for one of his sailing/snorkeling trips which was a highlight of our stay. Look up littleboatsailing!
The location is great and catches the breeze, the deck is fabulous for hanging out and eating meals, beds and sheets super comfy, living room area good for lounging. One of the couches turns into a bed which was good for us as one of our sons barely fits in a twin size bed. The kitchen is adequate. With a little creativity we made great meals for our family of four. We appreciated the beach chairs and beach towels. The location is not quiet. Dogs bark, roosters crow and a neighbor on the next hill cranked their music. My guess is that it's that way everywhere on the island. We got used to it. The bathroom shower water gets a little hotter than lukewarm at best. It was hot outside, so we didn't mind.
Definitivamente queremos volver.
This is our third (but certainly NOT our last) trip to Vieques, and our first time staying at Casita Amarilla!
We LOVE Casita Amarilla! The house / property is in a beautiful location with a northern view of the ocean & the mainland! We arrived to find Gabriel waiting for us at the gate and the cleaning ladies just leaving!
The lockable gate (to keep the horses out!) leads you into a lovely 1 acre plot and a cute little house at the top of the hill. A lovely and LARGE deck for outdoor living, relaxing breakfast & coffee and some extra space to SPREAD OUT! A charcoal grill, plenty of inside and outside seating, 2 relaxing hammocks, a cooler, sand toys, beach chairs, towels, etc are provided....
The kitchen is well equipped, but the oven is a challenge to actually COOK in - but it was adequate for heating food up. We had planned on making brownies, but it never got really HOT enough. So, we ended up making brownie pancakes instead! Yum! The living room includes a futon & another sleeping / sitting area. There is a TV if you are so inclined. We're not. :)
Nice bedrooms with room for unpacking! One bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of closet / drawer space. The other bedroom has 2 bunk beds, and plenty of shelf space. There is a single bathroom / shower. Laundry facilities ONSITE! YAY!
The house was extremely clean and is obviously well kept. Gabriel is an extremely gracious host. He helped us with many small questions from what kind of fruit is this to helping us find a rental car when there were NONE left on the island!
We can't wait to come back and experience the wonder that is Vieques. We highly recommend staying at Casita Amarilla! In fact, we're coming back in April, but unfortunately the house isn't available for all of the dates we'll be there. :(
