Yellow room on the Hill

House - Private room · N 27th St, Richmond, VA 23223, United States

Comfy room in my 3 BR/1.5 BA home on a quiet street in Church Hill. Easy walking distance to several good restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and a little market/bar. Convenient to downtown business district and I-95. Must like cats!

The Space

The yellow guest room is furnished with a full-size bed, nightstands with reading lamps, and a secretary desk/dresser. It is small but cozy, and the bed is very comfortable. There is no TV in the room, but there is a TV/DVD/VCR in the den down the hall that you are welcome to use if there is no other guest staying there.

Fresh towels and bed linens are provided when you arrive. Unlike a hotel, I do NOT provide housekeeping services in your room during your stay. You can make your bed, or not, as you choose. Guests may use the laundry facilities as needed.

Amenities include washer/dryer and wireless internet. I do not provide breakfast, although you are welcome to help yourself to coffee, tea, and any other beverages you may find in the kitchen fridge. You can also use some fridge space to store food and drinks of your own.

Guest Access

Bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining areas are shared with me and my two cats. My boyfriend and his friendly dog are also often around.

I may also host additional guests in my second guest room, in which case these amenities are also shared with them.

Interaction with Guests

During the week I am usually around in the mornings and evenings. If I am hosting a larger party, I sometimes opt to stay at my boyfriend's place. I travel a lot on weekends so if you're booking a weekend, you may or may not see me.

I can not necessarily be at the house to meet you, but I can always arrange to leave a key so that you can arrive at a time that is convenient for you.

The Neighborhood

My home is a 3 bedroom/1.5 bathroom detached row house on a quiet street in Church Hill. The house is situated within a few blocks of several good restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and a little market/bar. There are also a few parks with nice views of the river and the city. Additional destinations in Church Hill, Shockoe Bottom/Shockoe Slip, and the downtown business district are also easily accessible.

I didn't include a guidebook here; please see my listing for the "two-room suite" for that.

Getting around

There is plenty to do within a short walk or bike ride. If you want to use public transit, there's a bus stop for route 45 on the corner, and stops for several other routes nearby (look up the GRTC website for route info). There is also plenty of on-street parking if you travel by car.

Other Things to Note

If you are interested in booking, please send me a message BEFORE submitting a reservation. People who try to book a room without messaging me first will most likely be declined. Sorry for any inconvenience.

  • Kirsten was a lovely host, graciously accommodated a last minute booking and facilitated a really easy stay. I would definitely recommend staying with her - the location is great, too, really centrally located with a lot to see even within walking distance.

  • Loved staying at Kirsten's place. Details of our stay were communicated well throughout our trip. I felt comfortable and happy staying at her place. Not only is her home clean, but her furnishings make your stay pleasant. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Yellow room! :)

  • Kirsten was a very gracious & friendly host.

  • Kirsten was fantastic. While I was pretty much only in the house while sleeping because I had a very busy weekend in RVA, it was a great little place, and in a good location. Kirsten shared a light breakfast with me, helped me navigate the bus system, and was just a generally great, friendly person. The room itself was perfect for my needs with a nice comfy bed.

If I ever have reason to make it back to RVA, I'd happily stay here again.

  • This is a very nice place in a great location. Kirsten works very hard to accommodate your needs and is flexible as well. Highly recommend.

  • Enjoyed my stay in this lovely house, appreciated Kirstens friendliness and help for orientation!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Kirsten's place. The room is clean, spacious, and comfy, and it even has empty drawers and closet space for your clothes. There's a set up for tea and snacks for breakfast, and she's thought of everything - a bedside light, extra towels, and a fold down desk. The neighborhood is beautiful, and there's a delicious little barbecue place, Alamo's, within walking distance. Jefferson Park is nearby too. Kirsten is great company, and her cats are very friendly! Parking was easy, even if I came back late at night, and Kirsten was really flexible about check-in and check-out.

  • Great hostess and very comfy house & the room :) This was my first Airbnb and I was a bit nervous but glad I stayed at her house :) Not only the hostess is a great person, & the house/room was cozy but also I enjoyed her kitties & backyard garden! I def. recommend her place to anybody who goes to Richmond. She let me eat her garden produce and they were delicious, too! :)
