About This Listing
Welcome to Springfield! Stay in comfort and peace in a wonderful historic neighborhood two blocks from the 800 acre Forest Park.
I live in the historical Forest Park Heights part of Springfield, Massachusetts and am active in the historical events of this district, including architecture walks, museum tours and walks through Olmstead's Forest Park a few blocks away. Sharing my home with others has been such fun. Now expanding that fun with travelers visiting Springfield and the Pioneer Valley has totally enriched our lives. I enjoy the great cultural exchange of hosting people from all parts of the world and in the process making new friends.
I am a creative type. I make quilts and build Arts & Crafts furniture and have given classes in soap making and quilting. I also dabble in printmaking and painting. Many of my works adorn my home. I enjoy people and whether you want privacy or society, we make sure everyone is comfortable and get the most out of their stay in Springfield. I have lived here for 20 years and know my way around Connecticut and Massachusetts, and will gladly help guide your visit in the most efficient way.
I can accommodate up to 4 people, two in each room.
3 Blocks from highway 91. Easy drive to area colleges (Springfield College, Western New England, AIC and Westfield State are closeby), Northampton, Hartford and the Berkshires.

I felt welcome the instant Patrick opened the door to his home.
It was sort of as described, but much much better. Patrick in a superb host and decorator. The interior and the room were comfortable and inviting, the room quiet, the bed super comfortable, and the rest of the house up to standard in every way that mattered to us.
Our host was generous with his time and gave us valuable guidance on the best routes to where we wanted to go next.
We shall definitely stay there if we travel in that direction again. Its even worth a detour for the super quality if the experience.
What a great couple of nights at Patrick's beautiful house. We stayed in contact after the reservation because we were going to arrive late (10:30-11:30 pm). Patrick was at the door and actually called us as we slowed down across the street looking for house numbers.
Even at the late hour Patrick made sure we had everything we needed while we had a very nice conversation. Sasha, his cat, gave us the once over and apparently approved of us. Being cat owners we know what buttons we needed to push in order to become Sasha's friend.
We have family in Springfield, a milestone birthday was the reason for the visit, so we would be in and out. In the morning Patrick had blueberry scones for us to enjoy. We sat around the kitchen table and talked for awhile before setting out. Judi & Patrick talking about their different arts & crafts experiences.
The house is beautiful with fabulous molding and an original narrow, 1 inch wide, planked floor that looks like the nails were put in by a sewing machine, so meticulous is the installation. The room was very comfortable and being the only ones there we had the second floor to ourselves.
After a day out with our boy's and grand daughters we sat in front of the large fireplace and enjoyed the heat from the end of a fire. Since we had plans for breakfast the next morning we left a little note for Patrick to let him know. To be sure he saw the note we put on top of a small plate of homemade cookies. Guess what he had for breakfast.
As you can see we enjoyed our stay and recommend Patrick as your host.
My husband and I spent the night before Richard went to Baystate Medical Center for a procedure on his heart. Richard stayed overnight at Baystate and I went back to Patrick's. From the very first correspondence, Patrick was warm and welcoming. The house is beautiful, the bed comfy and there's plenty of hot water. But that's not the best part. Patrick is. We got in late the night before the procedure and Patrick came out to welcome us, got us settled in and gave us the lay of the land. The next night, after a grueling and stressful day, Patrick invited me into the fabulous kitchen for a wonderful chat which really helped me unwind. Patrick is an absolute delight! We laughed and shared stories and I so appreciated his thoughtfulness. Thank you Patrick!! We're looking forward to coming back to stay in your lovely home. Next time strictly on pleasure!!
5 Star plus! I did not really know what to expect, as this was my first AirBnb stay. Patrick went above and beyond, showing me some great local restaurants. Nothing but good things to say about this experience! The room was cozy and warm, and he looked after every detail possible - to make my stay comfortable, cozy, and inviting. Would highly recommend to other travelers.
Patrick welcomed us at the door and immediately made us feel at home. We did not lack for conversation during the four days we stayed in his home. The home is charming and very comfortable. We had snow on one of the nights we were there and in the morning we found that Patrick had kindly cleaned off our car. We are looking forward to staying with him again when we go back to Springfield.
Patrick's home is located in a very beautiful, safe neighborhood. Everything was as I expected it to be. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was easy parking on the street right in front of his house. Patrick was ready and willing to offer suggestions for activities in the area. He is a great conversationalist and we found ourselves lingering over breakfast to enjoy his company.
This is the second time that my daughter and I have stayed at Patrick's house. I so look forward to staying here - the house is beautiful and Patrick has been an excellent host always thinking of his guests first. He has wonderful recommendations for places to eat and things to see in the Springfield area.

About the Host, Patrick
I grew up in Indiana but settled in New England after college. I love the history in New England and enjoying exploring historic sites. I am an avid cook and also enjoy sewing, woodworking, soap making, and gardening. I live in an Arts & Crafts style home and enjoy the Stickley/Arts& Crafts aesthetic.
I have traveled in many countries but my favorites are Spain and Italy. I also really enjoyed my trip to Peru. Travel in the US is great...have spent a lot of time in the western national parks and recently had a marvelous week in Venice Beach, CA. I enjoy camping here in western Massachusetts and traveling to NYC and Boston as often as I can.
I would say I am a host who responds well to the needs of my guest. If you feel like hanging out with a glass of wine or cup of tea and chatting about life, that's great. Or if you prefer to have the house more to yourself with a lot of quiet time, I'm happy to accommodate. I am very relaxed and enjoy sharing my knowledge of hidden gems in western MA, destinations, hikes, restaurants, museums, etc.
I can honestly say that I consider every guest who has ever stayed with me a friend.
