A rustic little room in the heart of the golden triangle: Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, Blaye. All 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Surf the natural phenomenon Le Mascaret, a tidal bore, on the Dordogne river in St Pardon! Taste the local wines.
You will stay in an old converted stable and in a area called Les Graves du Vayres, the village has its own wine appellation by the same name. It makes Vayres with it's famous castle, Le Chateau de Vayres a very special place. Surrounded by vineyards, you are 5mn from the beautiful town of Libourne and St Emilion, as well as 20mn from Bordeaux, the wine capital with all its monuments and ancient history. Explore the region! drive or take the train or bus to Arcachon, Cap Ferret or Lacanau, eat some oysters next to the Atlantic Ocean. Wines tours to the Medoc, Entre deux Mers, or St Emilion is another option - discover the different wines that Bordeaux has to offer. If you love surfing... an experience of a lifetime, come surf the Mascaret - It's on our doorstep!
You have your own independent room (23m2) and ensuit bathroom (5m2) next to the house. The pool, the garden and the covered barn (dining table area) are available for you to use. The main house is private.
Interaction with guests
If you need some help, just ask, we will be very happy to advise you on the region and what it has to offer; We have been living here for more than 15 years, so we can recommend some great restaurants, cultural activities, wine tours, monuments to visit and some beautiful walks.
Surf the Mascaret (tidal bore) on the Dordogne river (info on the Mairie de Vayres website for timetable) Serine walks in the vines and calm little village of St Pardon. A wonderful bakery only a short walk down the road into the village. A Sunday morning market for fresh fruit and veg and of course oysters! La Maison du vin (next to the Chateau de Vayres) which sells the local Graves de Vayres wines.
We have a train station in Vayres where we can pick you up at your arrival if so needed. The train station that goes to Bordeaux is 10mn from the house. There is a bus service which runs regularly into Bordeaux, Citram 301 ou 302. The motorway A10 and the National 89 are very close and easy access from us.
There is a local taxi service too.
Other things to note
We are on the banks of the Dordogne river, and the Mascaret (a tidal bore) is a must if you are into water sports! surfing, canoeing, kayaking, SUP (stand up paddle) or even jet skiing. The wave details can be found on the site of the Maire de Vayres. A real phenomenon! People come from all over the world to surf it.
No animals - sorry! not because we don't love animals but we have a cat and an old dog - oh and some fish too!
