Thank you for looking!
Guests will love the newly renovated kitchen complete with stainless appliances. The cozy & sunny main bedroom holds either two twin beds or one king, depending on the situation. The small second bedroom has a full-sized bunk below, with the above bunk generally just used for storage. There is also a pull-out sofa in the small living area. The Cottage is fully self-contained with it's own private entrance, kitchen and bath.
Early Florida lake homes were often oriented facing the water instead of the street. The lake side is where the fun is and the street side is just how you get there! Our property is an extreme example of this philosophy. We are secluded from the street by tree cover and fencing. When you drive into the property you are in a large parking area that is largely hidden from the street. This serves as a buffer for the recreation areas that are beyond the main structures.
On the lake side we have two full-size beach volleyball courts, a covered pavilion area, a double-decker boat house, and a bonfire pit and hammock area down by the water. We are currently working on an outside kitchen set-up so that we can host our volleyball picnics without need to walk up to the house.
Owner is a born and bred Orlando local who is available for advice, local knowledge, and generally how to get the best value around town.
Potential car usage for guests with their own insurance. But this can' be guaranteed and should be considered a convenience to be discussed after booking.
Owners MAY be available for airport pickup by prior arrangement, for less than a cab would charge.
Separate but adjoining efficiency apartment also available for somewhat less. It has it's own entrance, bath, and kitchenette with a sleeping loft above and a futon on the ground floor. Pictures included in this listing along with the rest of the cottage because sometimes these two spaces are rented together.
REPEAT: Please contact us prior to booking. Special rates may apply or we may need specific information in order to coordinate reservations. Simple things like the number of guests in relation to bed configurations need to be discussed. We have the ability to combine or exclude different bedrooms to suit the situation, but we need to understand your needs and interests.
Thank you for considering staying with us!
We really enjoyed our time in Orlando . . . Sam is a wonderful host & was so helpful in responding to all our questions and needs and was a pleasure to work with. His property is a quaint little spot of tranquility and, although a work in progress, it was more than adequate for our group of 6. Sam worked with us to book both the efficiency and the cottage so we could spread out, and this gave the added benefit of 2 bathrooms. If you enjoy a laid back setting, we'd highly recommend Sam's place.
we were a family of six staying for a week. the place is comfortable and well laid out. It is well provisioned and has lots of storage place. it has a rustic charrm. the location is wonderful , right next to a lake and there is a volleyball court. Geographically located really well. 20 minute drive from the airport, from universal studios and disney land and Winter park in the other direction. Shopping facilities are also very close, ( walmarts within 10 minute walk). Sam, the host, was extremely helpful and friendly. Very willing to answer the many questions we had and very importantly was happy to lend us his canoe which really made my daughter (7) and my day. if the weather is bad the DVD collection is excellent and eclectic. and my sister enjoyed running in the area.
We had a comfortable stay in the lakeside cottage after our initial disappointment. It sounded sounded more romantic then reality. But the cottage is comfortable, Sam is friendly and willing to help out. It was clean and we enjoyed watching movies after tiring trip from Miami. Its close anought to all the Parcs and we had a very nice time in Orlando.
We stayed at Sam´s for three nights. The cottage was a little less than we expected, apart from the kitchen which is very clean and has everything you would need on a vacation. As others have pointed out in their reviews, some of the photos were taken from very generous angles and with unusually good lighting which makes it easy to be kind of disappointed when you actually get there. For example, the photos don´t show that there were window a/c units in the living room and the bedroom which block out almost all of the daylight and make it impossible to open the windows. As someone who tends to be slightly claustrophibic and doesn´t do well with dry a/c air, I probably wouldn´t stay there again.
BUT Sam was very nice and helpful and did his best to change some of the things we pointed out to him after the first night. he even took out the window unit in the living room. We were told not to open the windows anyway to avoid bugs coming in, so maybe fly screens would be a good idea. Sam is the kind of host you can talk to if there is anything you are not satisfied with.
Also the rather wild outdoor area is a nice spot to hang out. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock at night, with a cold drink, staring at the lake. Thanks for that!
We had a great time! Sam has a great place in a beautiful area, and, with a car, convenient to almost everything. Sam was great, helpful, and friendly, and the place was more than comfortable for the two of us. Thanks so much! If we visit again, this is definitely the place to stay.
Nice place on a lake side, very calm but "close to all" indeed.
Sam was a great host, explained everything and rented us a canoe for free
Хорошее место на берегу озера, очень тихо и спокойно, но близко до парков и шоппинга.
Сэм классный, весьма доброжелательный и разговорчивый. Обязательно попросите у него каное - незабываемые ощущения, обсобенно, по первому разу.
It was a fun experience! Sam was really helpful and nice throughout the entire trip. In fact, half the time, my group (consisting of a large number of college students) were worried about troubling and annoying him (as we kept changing plans last minute, we arrived earlier than expected, we didn't give him as much notice on certain activities, etc.) but he was totally cool and relaxed about it!
The only time there was a problem (the door to the toilet went off its hinge, and wouldn't open or close properly) he came in to fix it really quickly, so we weren't really affected by it.
It was a cozy place to stay in, and it was definitely an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend the place!
This place is a great place to stay in Orlando, it is very convenient since there is a Walmart nearby, and it is very close to other places if you are driving. Sam is a friendly and helpful host, he helped us to take care of the trash and even do laundry. Overall, this is a great place I will suggest if you need a place to stay in Orlando.
Sam was super friendly and helpful. The place was clean. The furniture was kind of cheap (the coffee table was starting to fall apart) but I wanted a place where I didn't have to worry about my kids destroying anything expensive, so it was perfect. It is advertised as having two twins or a king in main bedroom. This is a little misleading because the king is really the twins pushed together with some kind of pad over both. Unfortunately, I slept in the middle (because my husband and i shared the bed with our toddler) and could feel the crack. I might not have rented it if I had known. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. The grounds are full of stuff everywhere. I get the impression Sam is a bit of a pack rat, but that didn't really bother me. The second bedroom connects to the other place he rents out and the walls are thin, so we could hear the other renter from that room. I was worried my kids were being to loud. Overall I think it is a nice place to stay. I am happy to give my money to a nice guy rather than a big corporate hotel, so it all worked out fine.
My one night stay at the Lakeside Cottage guest house was very pleasant. Everything was provided including linens, kitchen ware, dozens of movies, etc.. There was even a coded door lock which was ideal for us to get in, since we arrived late, without disturbing anyone. Sam was very accommodating the following day and let us use his canoe to paddle around the lake which was beautiful. Overall a great first experience for me using AirBnb.
