Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I am often busy, but I love chatting with guests about their traveling adventures. The Single Boheme however is the room I rent out when I am away, so chances are I won't get to meet you this time.
Newtown is by far the liveliest suburb in Sydney, with great restaurants, funky shops and bars and a vibrant whiff of creativity in the air. You must definitely experience the great pasta at the Pastizzi Cafe! And of course their famous pastizzi. Open all day til 11pm/
Off street parking is included, trains and buses are close by: 10 mins to the Opera House, 5 mins to Central Station. Best way from the airport for a single is airport train to Central ($17) then change trains for Newtown Taxi from airport to Newtown is around $30 so it is cheaper for 2 people.
No smoking inside
No excessive drinking
Consideration for others
Wash own dishes
Leave room and apartment clean and tidy.
About the Host, Jan
I am a writer/performer who loves traveling, singing, reading, writing and hanging out with fellow creatives. I travel often to Asia to literary and performance festivals and collaborate often with Indonesian artists, musicians, and poets.
I also take groups on writing retreats to Bali, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Morocco, Fiji.
I am interested in Eastern religions and culture, but have also spent time in USA and Canada in the 70's hitching from LA to Vancouver and across to Montreal, so I have a lot of great traveling stories.
These days I don't hitch but I love meeting fellow travellers and exploring new places. One of my favorite destinations in Luang Prabang in Laos, I lead a writers retreat there every November.
My life motto is passed down from my mother to me - Happiness through creativity.
