I stayed in the retro cabin for the long weekend with my partner & parents, it was really comfortable for the 4 of us to stay in, I would highly recommend it to others, it felt very homely with a selection of records to play, books & card games. Great cooking facilities & utensils. Beautiful views from the front & waking up to see a paddock of sheep was lovely. Most importantly we were all very warm & had comfy beds! Great stay x
Unpretentious and surprisingly spacious cabin in good quiet location at the back of a holiday park. While it could be closer to down, it's really close to the beach, and had everything we needed. Great communication with hosts who were quite accommodating with our late arrival to the cabin.
Colourful retro cabin in good location on the Great Ocean Road with views of hills to one side and partial view of the ocean on the other, over the top of caravans and tents. All linens provided and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Could have done with a better clean and bit of an ant problem. WiFi available but only if paid for at park reception.
The cabin is in a nice location on a great site. If you are arriving after 5pm make sure you call reception to let them know. Unlike the previous review they weren't expecting us but they were extremely helpful. The site is immaculate with great facilities. The cabin is a good size, has everything you need and is basically clean, enough that you can happily stay there for a few days but not great.
What let it down for us was the infestation of ants. There was a notice to expect some and there were various things in the cupboard to deal with them. That didn't put us off, these things happen. However, when we did get them there were at least 3 trails from different places and when we opened the bathroom cabinet the door was literally black with them. Thankfully there were none in the food or bedroom so we could live with it the last few days. As it was worse than we expected and what we considered acceptable, we did let the owners know so they could be aware for the next guests. They seemed unconcerned saying it happens when it gets hot and that for budget accommodation they keep it as clean as possible. It may have been a one off as it was extremely hot and had been raining.
We stayed three days at Jade&Julianne's retro cabin. It was 4 of us. The cabin was perfect for what we needed. It was very cosy, comfortable and clean. Well provided with linen. Kitchen has all the essential tools to cook. The cabin is nicely situated within a camping/caravan park that has many amenities that we could use. I.e. Coin operated laundry, games room, etc. The area is very quiet even though is was packed due to school holidays.
The town of Apollo Bay is a short 2 mins drive or a short stroll by the beach. Staying in this area makes Jade & Julianne's cabin the perfect base to explore the area. It takes between 1:00-1:30 hours to drive to Twelve Apostles depending on traffic. It is a gorgeous drive regardless of the weather. We had a combination of sunny and rainy days and we enjoyed them all. We did a short walk to Shelley beach that we highly recommend.
Jade & Julianne were always available and easy to communicate with before and during our stay.
We would love to stay here again in the future.
About the Host, Jade & Julianne
In Australia, we are mother and daughter both artists and designers and live and work in Melbourne, while renting out our beach cabin on air bnb. We've both had a long love affair with Apollo Bay, its green mountains, crashing waves, and muscial and artistic vibrant little community! So we bought our cabin and designed it with the bright funky colours and design of the 70's. We love getting down to the ocean, along the inspiring Great Ocean Road to our Beach Cabin and we invite you to come and be inspired and creative there too!
