Come stay in an architect's home smack in the middle of all that's great about San Francisco! We rent out two rooms, each with its own character. Full kitchen, laundry, WiFi. Our Victorian is in the middle of the Castro, Mission and Haight districts.

The Space

Our flat is on the second floor looking over a tree-lined street. The building is a 6-unit Victorian from about 1912. Oak floors throughout. WiFi throughout. We have large kitchen with great lighting that is fully set up for cooking or hanging out. We have laundry in our unit, so longer stays are easy.

The bedroom is in the front of the apartment. It has a big sunny bay window, trimmed with trees, that overlooks Noe Street. Comfortable bed with good cotton sheets and down pillows. Large closet to hang clothes or stash your luggage. It's a double-sized bed, which paradoxically means that it's a good-sized bed for one, or two if you're into each other.

Guest Access

We welcome you to use the full apartment. The kitchen has everything you'd need to make something amazing. Our washing machine is in the back of the flat.

Interaction with Guests

In our experience, most of our guests come to SF to be out and about, seeing and doing things. With these guests, we'll often only see each other in the evenings for a bit. A few guests have been more domestic, and we end up hanging out more at home, sometimes cooking together. We both work full-time, so we're usually out of the apartment during the day. My dog can be a good buddy during the day if you make friendly with him.

The Neighborhood

San Francisco is full of unique neighborhoods, but I am in love with ours. It's called the Duboce Triangle. We're on a quiet, tree-lined street that is just 2 blocks from the heart of the Castro. It's a 5-minute walk to huge parks with 360 degree views to the Golden Gate bridge, all of San Francisco's skyline, the Oakland Bay Bridge and the hills of Berkeley and Oakland. The Haight (hippies) is a 10-minute walk, as is the near side of the Mission (hipsters). Dolores Park, a big sunny grass park on a palm tree-lined boulevard between the Castro and the Mission, is a 10-minute walk.

There are grocery stores, coffee shops, nightclubs, bars, gyms and restaurants of every sort within a 5-minute walk.

Getting around

Two blocks from our place, you can catch all Muni lines (J, F, K, L, M, N) and head to Union Square (3 stops away) or the Ferry Building on the waterfront Embarcadero (5 stops). In the other direction, you can ride out to the Zoo or the beach (surfing lessons? bonfires?). There are also busses that will carry you up to the Marina where you'll have the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Parking for a rental car on the street is free and surprisingly easy, although there is a limit to how long you can leave your car in one place. There are dozens of ZipCars around for day trips to Wine Country (Napa/Sonoma). Monterrey, with its famous aquarium, is 2 hours away, and Point Reyes National Seashore offers miles of isolated rural walks and empty beaches. I've seen whales breaching just off shore.

Other Things to Note

Please note that our prices change based on the season, so do check the airbnb information for accurate pricing on your dates.

You'd share the flat with me, Jonathan, a biochemist and science teacher; my boyfriend Beau, a interior architect. We are pretty quiet, 31/40 y.o., and easy going. Happy to join you for a glass of wine and hang out, but pretty busy with our own lives. I've got a medium-sized, relaxed dog that sticks to me like glue.

  • Such an amazing place in an incredible location. Serious property envy! Jonathan had great advice about what to do and how to get around. I truly didn't want to leave.

  • Jonathan welcomed me in his home and made sure I got all the information I needed about the apartment and the neighborhood. The room was very well decorated and both the toilet and bathroom were clean and tidy. I would recommend everybody to consider staying at his place. The Castro area is great for food and drinks!

  • The location was great for access to the Castro neighborhood and the Muni. the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen accessible. Did not see much of my hosts. Just so people know, this second floor front room (spacious with sitting chairs, TV) faces east and like many in San Francisco, they have no blinds on the windows. In June the sun hits the bed at 6:00 AM amplified by the headboard mirrors. The room also fronts on a busy street two blocks from Market St. and several bars. Perhaps it was noisier, because it was Pride weekend. With that said, I would consider staying there again.

  • We enjoyed our short stay in Jon's place. The house is clean and pretty and is close to everything one would look for in the Castro, yet is quiet at night. Jon and Beau were very attentive hosts. I would recommend to my friends.

  • An amazing place, beautifully decorated, clean, and incredibly located. My only regret was that I did not have time to visit more with the hosts... real cool, mellow guys. The bed and bath are both ideal, and the room is exactly as pictured. No down side, and I'll definitely stay here again. I arrived at 3a due to late flights, but the guys were great. Also flexible with checkout. Internet was easy, and communication was very good with printed materials to answer questions. The only down side was that there was no real hang out or lounge/living area... or there was and it as occupied. I would highly recommend this location and these guys!

  • Communication with the hosts was excellent and they were very helpful about getting our laundry done on our arrival. The room was comfortable and the location could hardly be better.

  • The neighborhood was amaaazing!! This is a beautiful home with beautiful people who run it in a part of San Fransisco where you have a perfect blend of city life. Yes there is street noise but the kind that reminds you HI YOU ARE IN SF which just adds to the romance of this room. The light is PHENOMENAL & the bed super comfy. Johnathan and Beau were gracious and accomadating making sure my needs were met at the last possible minute. The home and your room is immacualte. Also I'm generally allergic to dogs but this cute doggie didn't bother my nose or my person at all. If you're staying in SF and not staying here you're crazy!! Thanks so much guys- you'll be seeing me soon!! :)

  • Great host very easy and I loved the neighborhood.

  • Jonathan was wonderful and the room is just as advertised! I was in town for a very short trip, with a one day turn around, and Jonathan was able to accommodate my tight time schedule on less than 48 hours notice. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room is larger than it looks in the picture. Jonathan suggested a great place for breakfast that was only a block away and made sure I had everything I needed.
