Come stay in an architect's home smack in the middle of all that's great about San Francisco! We let two rooms, each with its own character. Full kitchen, laundry, WiFi. Our Victorian is in the middle of the Castro, Mission and Haight districts.
Our flat is on the second floor looking over a tree-lined street. The building is a 6-unit Victorian from about 1912. Oak floors throughout. WiFi throughout. We have large kitchen with great lighting that is fully set up for cooking or hanging out. We have laundry in our unit, so longer stays are easy.
The bedroom is in the front of the apartment. It has a big sunny bay window, trimmed with trees, that overlooks Noe Street. Comfortable bed with good cotton sheets and down pillows. Large closet to hang clothes or stash your luggage. It's a double-sized bed, which paradoxically means that it's a good-sized bed for one, or two if you're into each other.
We welcome you to use the full apartment. The kitchen has everything you'd need to make something amazing. Our washing machine is in the back of the flat.
In our experience, most of our guests come to SF to be out and about, seeing and doing things. With these guests, we'll often only see each other in the evenings for a bit. A few guests have been more domestic, and we end up hanging out more at home, sometimes cooking together. We both work full-time, so we're usually out of the apartment during the day. My dog can be a good buddy during the day if you make friendly with him.
San Francisco is full of unique neighborhoods, but I am in love with ours. It's called the Duboce Triangle. We're on a quiet, tree-lined street that is just 2 blocks from the heart of the Castro. It's a 5-minute walk to huge parks with 360 degree views to the Golden Gate bridge, all of San Francisco's skyline, the Oakland Bay Bridge and the hills of Berkeley and Oakland. The Haight (hippies) is a 10-minute walk, as is the near side of the Mission (hipsters). Dolores Park, a big sunny grass park on a palm tree-lined boulevard between the Castro and the Mission, is a 10-minute walk.
There are grocery stores, coffee shops, nightclubs, bars, gyms and restaurants of every sort within a 5-minute walk.
Two blocks from our place, you can catch all Muni lines (J, F, K, L, M, N) and head to Union Square (3 stops away) or the Ferry Building on the waterfront Embarcadero (5 stops). In the other direction, you can ride out to the Zoo or the beach (surfing lessons? bonfires?). There are also busses that will carry you up to the Marina where you'll have the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Parking for a rental car on the street is free and surprisingly easy, although there is a limit to how long you can leave your car in one place. There are dozens of ZipCars around for day trips to Wine Country (Napa/Sonoma). Monterrey, with its famous aquarium, is 2 hours away, and Point Reyes National Seashore offers miles of isolated rural walks and empty beaches. I've seen whales breaching just off shore.
You'd share the flat with me, Jonathan, a biochemist and science tutor; my boyfriend Beau, a interior architect. We are pretty quiet, 31/40 y.o., and easy going. Happy to join you for a glass of wine and hang out, but pretty busy with our own lives. I've got a medium-sized, relaxed dog that sticks to me like glue.

Jonathan, Beau and Painter were great hosts. The room is in a great location in the heart of the Castro, very clean and a great place to rest your head.
It was a pleasure staying in Jonathan and Beau's fantastic home. The location was great for exploring as it was close to transit and many great restaurants, cafes and bars in the area. The room was very comfortable. Jonathan and Beau were great hosts and extremely hospitable. A great place to stay!

Jonathan was a great host. Really accommodating with my late checkout request and helpful to give some information about the area. The room is really cosy, and I really liked the decoration.
Jonathan and Beau's place is stunning. And they are such welcoming, kind hosts. Their dog Painter is adorable as well:)
I loved my stay so much that I'm staying there again. Super fun steampunk room with a bay window. Spacious kitchen. Easily accessible bathroom.
Plus totally awesome, walkable neighborhood and very close to great transit, the Muni train.
A truly great spot to stay in the city.
Jonathan was a good host; helpful, but not interfering. I spent most of the day w/my daughter and grandchild and when I got home I was given my privacy to relax in very comfortable bed The shower was better than many at upscale hotels. The furnishings are designer quality. The Castro area is lovely, so I enjoyed ea morning a t local coffee shop walking along the cute shops
Jonathan was a wonderful host. Would definitely stay again!
Cosy place with a friendly host. Great neighborhood. I can definitely recommend a stay here.
Jonathan and Beau were two darlings, the stay in SF was one of the most lovely ones I ever had! The flat is cosy and wonderfully decorated, while being perfectly located in a charming neighbourhood with lots of good restaurants. The hosts generously helped me out with everything I needed, still being very discrete. And the dog Painter gave us some funny moments as well. I was really sad to leave and would definitely suggest this room to everyone!
Jonathon and Beau were amazing hosts - they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The location is also amazing and close to great places to eat, grab a coffee, and transport to anywhere in the city. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay, you won't be disappointed!
