Enjoy the cool Caribbean breeze at this standalone, two-level cabin with a private entrance. The cabin is located behind the main house. We are situated in the residential neighborhood of Crespo. This is a safe, quiet neighborhood with easy access to the downtown area. Getting to the downtown historic district is only a ten-minute cab ride away, or if you prefer you can catch a bus ride. There are several restaurants, convenience stores, and pharmacies located within walking distance. We hope you like airplanes as our property overlooks the airport!
About the cabin:
-The bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) is located on the first level
-One full-size bed (+ one trundle bed)
-Sheets and towels included
-Washing machine in the main house is available for guest use for an extra fee
The beach and airport are a ten-minute walk away. A car ride to/from the airport takes less than 5 minutes. We will be more than happy to welcome you at the airport if you wish (with advance notice). We are primarily fluent in Spanish, but we have a conversational knowledge of English.
If you are at Airbnb it must be because you are looking for more than just an average hotel-stay vacation. Seize this opportunity to become friends with locals and be part of our family during your vacation in Cartagena. This is a true oasis.

The house is in a great location. Crespo is a safe neighborhood with shops, grocery stores, and nice restaurants (cheaper than Boca Grande). You can grab a collective taxi a couple of blocks from the house and get to El Centro for 1700 pesos. In my opinion staying in Crespo is best so that after spending the day in the tourist areas you can come home to some normalcy. The house is only a couple of blocks from the airport and thus upon arrival finding the house is very easy. The house is a two story beach cabin that is private and quiet. The houses next door are also quiet and residential. I was a single female traveler and thus it should be noted that the walls of the cabin are made of plywood. It would not be difficult for someone to compromise the walls of the house and take your things if they were really desperate. To get to the cabin you need to jump over two locked gates but in the night it is possible and your personal security could also be compromised. Also, there was no fan or air conditioning and no WIFI as listed. Fortunately I could tolerate the heat and there is an internet cafe close by that is inexpensive. Finally, there are other Colombians living in the front house who are not the hosts. During my stay the hosts were in the US. The other guests renting out the front house stole a lot of money from me while I was eating breakfast with them. I went into the other room briefly and left my backpack near my breakfast. Fortunately the police in Cartagena helped me get it back. Never leave your backpack for even a minute with anyone on the premises as they may see an opportunity. The hosts were very nice and responsive during my stay but I have not heard back from them after the robbery about a refund for the 4 days that I did not stay there. The police did not recommend that I stay at the house after the incident due to possible tensions. It was 3 weeks ago and I was hoping that they would follow their flexible refund policy stated on the website.
The reservation was canceled 16 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I had a blast. Cesar and Ceci were lovely people. The unit could not have been more convenient, as it was only a five minute walk from the airport The cabin is situated behind their house. You are given keys to a second set of gates that take you around back to where the cabin is located. It is a two-story cabin with a sink and bath room, which had a nice shower, toilet and sink, although donI't expect hot water. I did not mind. Cartagena is hot and those showers felt great! There is a narrow wooden staircase which leads to the bedroom upstairs, so if mobility is an issue this might not be a good choice. The room was of adequate size. The queen size bed was comfortable and clean sheets and towels were provided weekly. There was also adequate drawer space. The air conditioner was not putting out cold air when I arrived, but Cesar quickly had the unit replaced. The accommodations were clean, private and secure. it is more like staying at a KOA cabin, so if that is not your expected level of luxury then this would not be the place for you. There was considerable noise from the airplanes, but they stopped between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am. and I quickly got used to it. Access to the Center was easy and inexpensive. By taxi it is about $3.00. A bus ride will cost about $.80. The neighborhood of Crespo was nice and safe. I ate at several of the nearby establishments on Calle 70, dirt cheap and delicious! The best chicken i've ever had and it it was $3.50! I also met many of the friendly neighbors and even celebrated New Year's Eve at one of their houses, a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back!!!
Stay here. Cesar is one of a kind. He kindly showed me some great spots in Cartagena and helped me get my feet wet. I now consider Cesar a friend.
The right place to start to know Cartagena and Cesar can give you useful tips to get around the city. Cheers mate!
My wife and I have recently relocated to Cartagena from New York City. Cecilia grew up in Cartagena and we are now living in her family home. While we search for entrepreneurial opportunities in Colombia, we have decided to rent our spare rooms/spaces to travelers who wish to explore the magnificent Cartagena de Indias. We enjoy meeting new people and this will be a wonderful way to maintain the cosmopolitan life we experienced in NYC. We look forward to having you join us!
