This bedroom is very private, with full windows on 3 sides and a quaint private bathroom. Queen sized bed. You'll want to stay up all night just looking out over the Bay--you can see from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. The sunrises can be epic!
The house was built in 1929 as a summer home for people in SF. It has been added onto over the years to become a lovely residence sitting in a great park-like setting of 1.2 acres.
We are convenient to 280 and 101, just up the hill from Redwood City and fairly close to Stanford University in Palo Alto. 1/2 hr from San Francisco or San Jose.
With advance notice I can turn on the hot tub. It's right outside the bedroom door. For your lazing pleasure there are adirondack chairs under the redwood trees. A peaceful grotto!
You will probably need to have your own car, however taxi service is available. Full use of kitchen and other common areas allowed. There is NO smoking allowed AT ALL.
Just a mile from the house is a coffee place, a couple of restaurants, nail/hair/workout places and gasoline/car repair and dry cleaners. Good running/walking trails nearby.
Guests have full access to all common areas--garden, patio, living and dining areas, kitchen use too.
Interaction with Guests
My interaction with you is all up to you! There may be other guests too and I find most everyone to be fascinating and wonderful.
It is a couple of miles to downtown but feels as if we are in the country. You could walk one mile down hill (and 1 mile back UP hill) to find a couple of restaurants and a coffee place.
Follow the golden rule. Clean up after yourself and don't make too much noise late at night. There is coffee/tea available to you. Great conversations if you'd like, or just privacy in your own space.
Cath's place was wonderful and one of the nicest air bnbs we have visited thus far. It's situated high on the hills of redwood city and has excellent views. It really does feel like you are in a tree house but with the comfort of a home setting. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Cath as she was out of town but she was available for the late night questions I had, which was very helpful. I loved her 2 dogs who were very sweet and quiet. Her garden was also very beautiful and we saw that there was a jacuzzi outside our room that we wish we could have tried! It's a great location for a great price, we couldn't ask for more!
Staying here is like joining an extended family :-) The Views Galore has views galore, with some prime plane-spotting and hummingbird-watching thrown in. I enjoyed the conversation with Cath and the other guests, as well as the bonus easter eggs. Awesome experience all over.
It was our second time staying with Cath. And as before we had a really pleasant experience. She is a great host.
Wonderful view, great conversation with gourmet a.m. coffee, comfortable bed, fine craftsmanship, and accommodating hostess who took an interest in our personal lives. We will return!
What a great place to stay. Cath and the other guests (including the dogs) were very friendly and made us feel more than welcome. The conversations were great and the setting was outstanding.
Great coffee, conversations, view and location. We will definitely stay here next time we're in Palo Alto.
We had a marvelous experience staying with Cath in the Views Galore unit. She is a great host. She helped us find an exquisite bakery in Redwood City as part of her overall orientation to the area. She was generous with her local guide books, her home, and her home made plum jam. The Views Galore unit is definitely a treat particularly with the view into the old oak trees that make the room appear to be a tree house retreat. You definitely get your privacy with lovely views while at the same time having the option of interacting with Cath and an interesting cast of other guests. This spot is closely located to numerous hiking areas. We highly recommend the Edgewood Nature Preserve. Finally, I want to reiterate how warm, welcoming, and helpful Cath is as a host.

The house is perched atop 1.2 acres with an amazing unobstructed view stretching from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. Trying semi-successfully to grow veggies, yet my garden is lovely---my dogs have the run of the place. Please consider me an excellent resource for the area, as I've lived here for over 20 yrs. and am well connected. I love most music and am a HUGE fan of the Monkee's (so don't hold that against me). Born in Oklahoma yet have travelled quite a bit and have lived in many places. NEWS FLASH!!: We just created a FB page! Fraser's Perch would love your visit--upload your photos and join the fun at any of our events. Welcome!
