Alberto was one of the most gracious and accommodating hosts we've had...and we've been traveling for four months, four countries, and over a dozen cities. His responses were timely, detailed, and accurate. He picked us up from the bus station when we arrived, dropped us off when we left and even took us to the airport when we returned again a week later for an overnight stay. He spent nearly 30 minutes with us after we arrived showing us different sights and locations on a map as well as showing us around the apartment. He was in regular contact with us throughout our stay, by phone and e-mail, answering questions from taxi prices to best methods of travel. He even provided us the name and contact number of a friend of his who operates a remiss service (similar to a taxi service, but a little cheaper for longer distances and a set rate).
The apartment itself is even better than described and pictured online. The internet was fast and always reliable. The beds were comfortable and the couch folded down into a futon bed. He even provided a pack-n-play for our infant son at no extra cost. There were more than enough towels for our week long stay and the water in the sink and shower was always hot and plentiful. The kitchen was equipped for regular cooking and was warm enough for us during the cold winter month of June in Patagonia. The apartment is located on the 4th floor, which makes for a stunning view of the morning sunrise and sunset. The second bedroom is a loft above the living room, which had a wooden gate in front of the stairs for our little ones.
The location of the apartment is probably its best feature. Less than two blocks from two large super markets, right off the main street (Mitre), but quiet and far enough away to avoid street noise. A laundry service is also about two blocks away and can have your clothes ready for you the next day. He recommended a great Italian/Argentine restaurant called La Fonda del Tio, very reasonably priced, frequented by all the locals, and big enough portions for lunch the next day. It's a short 5 minute walk from the apartment. We highly recommend Alberto as a host and his condo as a home away from home.
Thank you very much Mike, Katie and the kids. It was my pleasure to receive such a nice family, I repeat, a real family travelling so longer distances with an enormous smile in each of their faces. As I have said to them, they are very welcome to come againg whenever they will be missing our paradise: Bariloche.
Alberto was very nice and generous, he went to pick us at the bus station and then drove us to the airport. The apartment is very well located, and exactly as described and in the pictures. We had a problem with the toilets but Alberto went immediately with the plumber to repair it, so it was no trouble at all. We had a perfect stay in Bariloche !
The short version:
Rent this place. Stop reading and just get this one. You'll be glad you did.
The longer version:
Alberto picked me up from the airport and also gave me a ride back. When we arrived at the apartment, he gave me the tour and a few tips of things to do and find around the area.
The place is pretty awesome. Has everything you need. It is pretty close to a supermarket and laundry place (if you need it). No A/C, but I learned you don't need A/C in Bariloche. I visited at the beginning of their Autumn and it was pretty perfect. I can imagine needing heat later in the year, but I didn't test that out.
WiFi was good, view is fantastic, location and host are outstanding.
Alberto is a great host, he is in every detail, kind and lovely. He picked up us from and to the airport, even though it was very late at night. He is highly recommendable. The place is so good, as it is shown in the pics, very well located, despite it is no necessary to stay in downtown, as Bariloche has many places around to visit. the city is beatiful, with great sightseeings, we spent a really great time in Bariloche!!
