This is a unique room in architect designed flat. Constructed in 1949 this Bauhaus building the flat was modernised in 2010 and opened as a bed and breakfast in 2011 = special features include King Size hotel standard bed, bed canopy and fabric walls

The double room offered is in a 3 bed apartment with shared bathroom/loo separate
designed for travellers so there is lots of attention to detail
in the white room: the walls are limewashed with Georgian green - historically how walls were treated - the lime wash absorbs germs - so you wont get travel flu.

The room has a super kingsize orthopaedic bed - arm chair nice storage for clothes and luggage, feel free to use the kitchen whenever for tea and coffee making pack lunches - you have a small fridge in the room and local shops are 3 mins away.

I live in the flat and work in the studio - there are also usually a visiting academic or overseas student staying in the live/work space for longer periods up to a 9 months at a time- a cleaner comes 2 -3 times a week
along with Biba my small short haired terrier along with her youngest puppy Assali, who will greet you on arrival a nice welcome - she is very quiet and doesn't go into rooms unless invited by guests.
come chat/say hi/ or be private/ ask me questions/ I am around as I work in my studio in the flat.
-17 minute walk to the River Thames and Embankment pier via Black Prince Road.
-20 mins walk Imperial War Museum, South Bank, and Tower Hill
- great bistro pubs and bars a fantastic Indian, Iranian and Italian, Thai and Chinese, British gastro pubs serving good food
- cafe with home made food, book cafe
- cafe in the park all thriving all day.
the underground is 5 mins walk, parking booklet offered for those driving outside the building -
buses run (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and 3 via west end Parliament square, Whitehall Palace, Trafalgar Sq, Piccadilly and Oxford St Marylebone and st johns Wood
133 bus goes to city via London Bridge
Heathrow Express - Paddington - Bakerloo line (brown) to Waterloo then Northern (black) southbound 1 stop to Kennington 35mins train 30 mins tube
Gatwick Express - 30 mins Victoria - 15min 36 bus to Oval Station 6 minute walk to flat via park. or take the underground at Victoria station change and Embankment station to the northern line southbound 2 stops to kennington -
(to make it cheaper buddy up with another couple 4 people can buy group tickets that cost the same as the coach return and saves you hours of travel.
Stanstead and Luton - into Liverpool Street St Pancreas - Kings Cross underground 30 mins - Northern line (black) southbound city branch - 25mins
buses to city, west end, brixton, east end and victoria all across the road.
Why not come and stay on the Royal Dutchy of Cornwall Estate (owned by the Prince of Wales) -
since the 11 century, a vibrant community of lovely walks, good restaurants, gastronomic pub doing amazing burgers, cafe in the park, cocktail bars and rustic cafes, Iffle Yard a few minutes walk.
to the centre of town 10 mins to city and west end by underground and 15 mins by bus
bus stop across the road.
3 mins walk away from underground station
17 min walk to River and houses of Parliament and 20 min walk to Shard and Borough Market at London Bridge.
close to Greenwich by river boat home to a World Heritage Site, the Cutty Sark and Maritime Museum,
20 mins to Museum collective at South Kensington - V&A, Science and Natural History Museums.
Guest are welcome to use the kitchen in the mornings to make lunches - help themselves to tea and coffee whenever they like -
I lay breakfast out in the studio for the morning
but as its also a working studio I would prefer to be able to work in peace at evenings - am always happy to break and have a glass of wine and chat if I dont have deadlines.
Interaction with Guests
you share my home with me - so I am around - I let guests have breakfast in peace but if your the kind that like to chat let me know and I'll join you each morning to chat etc
The home of Oval Cricket Ground. M15 and 6 = Cricket and Spies - what could be more english!
Kennington is partly owned by the Dutchy of Cornwall (Prince Charles currently is the Duke) and the rest is owned by southwark and Lambeth and the dieces of the Palace of Lambeth. The Imperial War Museum, southbank to houses of Parliament, Waterloo southbank Tate Modern and Britian are all walking distance about 17min to Lambeth Pier at the bottom of Black Prince Road- there are lots of great local restaurants, bars, and cafes for guests to use and the area has several parks with cafes and lovely walks, Burgess Park has great views of the city, Vauxhall has wild meadows of lavender, Kennington has tennis courts and walled gardens.
there are buses that go to west end 3,159 (Oxford St and Baker St,) night bus 59 and city past Whitehall from Kennington Road opposite the park 3 mins away and 133, 147 from outside the flat go over London Bridge are great alternative to tourists buses = 36 from Oval on the otherside of the park takes you to Victora, Hyde Park, Marble Arch.
Oval tube station is 10mins walk through park
kennington station is at the end of the block 4mins walk
I am pretty relaxed and easy going but a few things
tidy up after you use the kitchen -
Anna Marie my wonderful cleaner (hense the cleaning fee) comes 2/3 times a week - to polish hoover iron but I tidy the room daily.
please throw out food if you eat in the room there is a rubbish shoot in the hall or we wont know if its there or take it with you would be great also.
please dont wear shoes in the apartment.
