About This Listing
This is a beautifully renovated and modern one-bedroom flat with an amazing view of the Bosphorus. With its wooden floors, open plan and fully equipped kitchen and modern bathroom (with a bathtub), the flat offers a cozy space filled with sunlight and a gorgeous sea breeze.
The flat is a 5 minute walk to Taksim Square, where you'll find the metro station and the famous Istiklal Street. The flat is located on a quiet residential street in Cihangir, where Istanbul's artists, designers and musicians meet. The neighborhood is rich with cafes, restaurants and supermarkets.
The flat is fully equipped with a washing machine, and built-in dishwasher, oven and fridge. The flat also has a natural gas heater, flat screen TV with a basic satellite receiver and a DVD player, hair dryer, clean sheets and towels, as well as a full set of brand new kitchenware. WiFi internet is also available.
Your stay here will give you a real feel of what it's like to live in one of the world's greatest cities.
Zarifi was at the flat to greet us and go over the details. She also gave us a map with information on local transportation and good places to eat.
Such a lovely flat in the Changhir area of Istanbul. So close to some really great restaurants and shops - the neighborhood is really great, with lots of local things to do nearby. The flat is very clean and comfortable with a kitchen you can really prepare meals in. There was enough room to unpack our belongings and spread out without feeling cramped.
The most outstanding feature though, were the views. Sitting at the table during breakfast looking out the huge windows to the view of the Bosphorus was beautiful. Or at night, watching the seagulls flying in the lit-up sky above the hotel across the way was such a dreamy scene - a little like fireflies dancing a slow waltz.
I look forward to coming back to Istanbul again - and hopefully will be able to rent Zarifi's flat again!
Zarifi was very welcoming. She was flexible about our check-in and check-out times, and gave us lots of local tips, even leaving an Istanbul travel card with the flat keys. Whenever we had a query about anything and everything, she got back to us very promptly. We are extremely happy that we chose Zarifi's flat, it made the whole difference to our enjoyment of that amazing city. The flat is in a superb location with a view of the Bosphorus, very central to Taksim and with easy access to public transport, including a main tramline that goes across the Bosphorus to the historical centre of Sultanahmet. Talking about access, Cihangir neighborhood is on a slope, so be prepared to walk up or down some relatively steep steps. It is worth the view, though! The flat is good size for two people and spotless. It’s well-equipped and nicely laid out, with lots of storage and kitchen utensils, abundant clean towels, washing machine, reliable wifi and much more. The only drawback is that it is up three flights of winding stairs, and as the other reviews note, the stairwell is a bit grimy and smelly, completely unlike the flat itself. If you like cats, the neighbourhood has lots of them. We would love to come back and stay at Zarifi's place again in the future.
This beautifully located flat is quite small but very well equipped. There is virtually everything you need, especially the kitchen allows you to really feel at home. The most important asset is definitely the view on the Bosporus which is absolutely stunning and really gets you addicted to Istanbul
It goes without saying that everything was spotless and communication with Zarifi was easy and straight-forward.
We would definitely choose this flat again!
It is indeed a great apartment. My flight through Turkish airlines was delayed 6h and Zarifi patiently waited for us. She showed us the apartment and gave us all the hints and addresses in Istanbul, explaining us how to move around the city. Istanbul, by the way, has a great transportation system. The Tram, just a few blocks from the apartment took us everywhere. The apartment is exactly like it is in the pictures, if not better. Newly renovated, great kitchen and bath, fully equipped, bright and comfortable. Very good taste to the minimal details. Super clean. It is great that it is in Cihangir, a cool but quiet neighborhood which is basically residential, but that has some great restaurants and bars. The only thing to be aware of are the hills and stairs around the area and the fact the flat is a walk up to the 4th floor. We really didn't mind it and arriving at the apartment was always a restorative experience. It is a great place and Zarifi was always available, friendly and helpful. Book it.
We are a couple of academics who have been to Istanbul many times. This Winter, we stayed in Zarifi’s apartment from December 26 to January 9. The apartment is located on a quiet street, midway between the shore of the Bosporus and Taksim Square. We arrived at midnight and gave our taxi driver Zarifi’s phone number so that she could direct him to the address (Istanbul is a maze) where she met us and showed us the apartment. The stairwell to the apartment is not very engaging — indeed, it is smelly and dirty (we don’t know how building maintenance works in Istanbul) but the apartment itself is spotless. What we enjoyed the most was the view from the kitchen/dining room side: large windows opening onto staggered rows of interesting buildings on a hill that slopes down to the Bosporus where you can see ferries and ships of all sizes (from gigantic cruise and cargo ships to fishermen’s boats) make their way up and down that unique waterway. The kitchen is modern, well-equipped and was perfect for us as we like to cook with local ingredients. A missing baking tray was promptly supplied by Zarifi, who responded to our queries almost instantly at any hour of the day. When we wanted a little table lamp to put by the side of the bed, she went and bought a lamp and brought it the next day. In theory the apartment could sleep 4 but in practice the sofa bed in the main room is smallish and not very comfortable; the place is ideal for a couple. The space is very well designed with the sleeping area almost like a separate room. The bathroom is large and modern. At least when we were there, the internet was discouragingly slow, much slower than any connection we have had in Istanbul over the years. Basically, we could only send and receive email (without attachments). Any other task or Google search and such would take minutes for a page to load up. Zarifi assured us that normally the connection is good, but because of the season’s holiday she could not get a tech to look at the connection in time.
To sum up, the place feels very safe; the area is great at any time and the apartment’s door is metal reinforced with a double lock that looked quite impregnable. It's a little home (approximately 65 square meters) away from home. We like to try new places when we come to Istanbul but we would stay here again without hesitation.

About the Host, Zarifi
When I first joined airbnb, I wasn't thinking it would mean that much to me. Now I feel like I am totally involved in it. Getting to know new people, welcoming them, helping and guiding them in my local area is wonderful.
Like a big family :)
