**Before inquiring to stay here, please make sure that you have filled in your profile with a photo, where you are from, who you may be travelling with, and something interesting about yourself.**
**This listing is not for local Montrealers to stay at. If you are inquiring on behalf of someone else, let me know, and have them create their own AirBnB profile because it will need to be booked by them.**
This listing is available only occasionally for private stays, the whole house. You will only see this listing when it is "available" but please discuss your needs before booking - I make my own travel arrangements depending on guest bookings and block out "not available" when I am not willing to travel. Otherwise, my listing for when I am home is here: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/509407
It is three-floor townhouse with three bedrooms - one guest room has a comfortable single bed and enough space for an air mattress, and the other has a queen bed, and my vacated room has a double. Capacity for six or seven, depending on whether one or both couches are occupied.
The neighbourhood has many good restaurants in different price ranges. Some are upscale. There are also two trendy pubs. The Lachine Canal provides you a nice walk, as well as many other historical sites on the way to Old Montreal. A short walk up the hill takes you to the heart of downtown in 20 minutes. And we are 3 blocks from metro Lionel-Groulx.
What makes my place unique? It has an awesome garden and it is urban-wildlife-friendly. I am thrilled every time a new bird comes to have a drink and bath in my pond. It really is a zen zone. Both the back and front yard have vegetables growing. If you like gardening, you are welcome to water the plants. In the winter, just admire my flock of house sparrows and a few squirrels.
Also, Your Pet is Welcome! Though I've only had two guests come with pets, almost all pets are welcome here - the "almost" qualifier is because I have three rabbits and I must be mindful of their security - usually they free-range downstairs and will likely be in the garage while you are here. They will have a caregiver come in. If you have a Jack Russell or other terrier or prey-pursuing dog, your pet may be on high alert (which won't be easy for you) because of smelling the rabbits; the garage is off-limits. Your cat or other pets are welcome, but not outside in the back yard (dogs excepted, of course they can be in the back yard with people - but it would not be welcome to harass the wildlife.)
There's one private parking spot. There is easy street parking. My home is very close to Lionel Groulx metro, which is a public transit hub, including the 747 bus from the airport.
We do have internet (ethernet or wireless). Please limit your downloads as I do have a bandwidth cap and a usage meter.
There is a mini tourist-information library that you can tote with you on your trips around town.
The kitchen is ready to use. There is a coffee machine, toaster oven, and waffle iron.
Downstairs is the den/home office where you can watch TV (no cable, but there is AppleTV and a DVD player) or do laundry. This is where the rabbits usually live.
The place was spacious and Jane was very accomodating to our arrival and departure times. The pet rabbits were in the garage and the pet rats were taken with Jane during our stay.
Location was excellent; metro was a few minutes walk away, rentable bixi bikes were 2 blocks away, and the Marche Atwater (with excellent cheese, flowers, fruits, beers) was a favorite to walk around in the morning with a coffee.
Distance to Old Town was approx 20 min walking and we enjoyed Montreal!
We stayed at Jane's place for a lovely quiet family New Years Eve and it was just delightful! Beautifully decorated and very cosy - truly a home for the holidays! Great location - just two blocks from the subway or a 20 minute walk downtown. Jane was very accommodating even though we made a reservation at late notice and was even nice enough to leave us some delicious waffles! Would certainly recommend!
