Awesome artist building in Pilsen, directly next door to the National Museum of Mexican Art, and Harrison Park!
The vibe of the Pilsen Art House is similar to a hostel, but with ONLY private rooms! You will have the opportunity to meet other travelers if you desire, or have as much privacy as you desire.
*** PLEASE NOTE: Lorie and Mike do not live here full time, but we have live in hosts and provide lots of helpful info and we provide mountains of advice on what to see and do in the city. **
**THE Pilsen Art House is an OLD building, with lots of quirks/(we call character and charm), but is wonderfully welcoming, safe and fun.
NOTE ON KEY RETURN: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RETURN KEYS....we have a deposit now on rooms to ensure that keys are returned. PLEASE do your absolute best to give the keys to a host. If keys are not returned, $10 will be deducted from the deposit held by airbnb. THANK YOU!!
This listing is for a SINGLE PRIVATE ROOM, NOT the entire apartment. The common areas are shared: living room/eating area, kitchen and bathroom..

Old Czech style buidling, typical of the area from years back when the now mostly Hispanic neighborhood, was primarily Czech. The very high ceilings gives the apt a lofted appearance, large windows, small, basic kitchen and color, color, color abounds in the Pilsen Art House.
Please note: this is an OLD building, which can be slightly drafty, and not having the newest amenities, however, we feel that adds to the character of the place, and it common in this older neighborhood.
We offer three floors of private rooms in the Pilsen Art House. Each floor houses an apt with three bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/eating area and living room.
There are 9 private rooms available for rent in Pilsen Art House, accomodating single, couple, or group travelers. Each room is colorful, cozy, inviting, and very comfortable and private. Murals painted on all the walls make it fun, whimsical, and good conversation piece.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, blender, kettle, pots, pans, dishes, etc. As our guest, you are invited to use anything you need.
Lightning fast internet too! woooot!!
The neighborhood of Pilsen, is directly west of downtown Chicago, accessible via Pink line, which is two short blocks away. It will take you to all the attractions of downtown Chicago in less than 15 minutes! Pilsen itself is an interesting, dynamic, and magnetic neighborhood in it's own rite...full of artists, murals painted on sides of buildings, coffee houses, galleries, bakeries, vintage stores, mexican candy shops, and the National Museum of Mexican Art is right next door and FREE!!!
Pilsen Art House is a short walk to 15 restaurants, (including one directly across the street, you can see if from the front window!), video store (yes, they still have them around here), Harrison Park with indoor pool, baseball field, soccer field and basketball courts,
Mike and I are very familiar with the city, and are happy to give you suggestions/advise on how to be a savvy visitor in Chicago with tips on cheap (but delicious) eats, discount days at museums, free festivals in the summer, etc.
Great B & B, great deal, and close to the heart of the city.
This is a beautiful space in a really cool building. Very quiet and comfortable. Shared kitchen space is helpful. I was greeted by a very nice host. I would highly recommend staying at the Art House. Unfortunately, I had a family emergency and had to leave, but the hosts were very understanding.
Great experience overall. It's a nice place to stay with very nice people, and great to meet some other travelers.
This was our first Airbnb and it was great!! Clean rooms, great host, easy to find parking, couple minute walk to the train. would definitely stay again.
Worked out perfect. Great hosts! Would do it again.
Very good price for short term rent. As it is clearly described by the host, the building itself is very old. However, they maintain the place clean enough. It's only 5 mins walk from 18th Station. Takes another 15 mins to Downtown.
The room seems to have an issue with heating system. It wasn't pleasant experience sleeping in a room which was just too cold to fall asleep. Living room was rather warmer than the room I stayed.
Overall, just good for the money.
I do feel there's a fine line between 'quirky' and 'run down', which this place is close to crossing! Sheets covering windows instead of curtains, flaky paint and dodgy locks on bedroom doors.
The team were friendly and welcoming throughout, but the place could do with some TLC.
This is an awesome place, nice and clean, and full of friendly people. Will definitely go to this place next time I'm in Chicago
Although a little bit far from Chicago's downtown, it was convenient to get back and forth since this place was only a block away from a pink line station. It's got everything you need - kitchen access with stove, microwave, and fridge. The double room was a tiny bit cramped, but that didn't present an issue. I was expecting twin-sized beds but it's equipped with full-sized, which was nice.
We had a nice stay at the Pilsen Art House ! It is well located in a really cool neighbourhood, and you can get downtown very quickly. The room was small but the beds were really confortable, so you can get some good sleep after walking all day in Chicago's streets ! An overall good experience !
