Our stay in Muriel's little backyard house was a total dream! We were blessed with gorgeous weather so we got to spend every morning in their beautiful cozy garden. The house is tiny, but has everything one would need. The bed is VERY comfortable, which was a real blessing after having spent hours and hours on foot in Paris. We only needed each other to hold the showerhead for evening face wash, because the washbasin in the bathroom is too small to wash one's face there. But even that was kinda fun! ;-) Muriel and her family were extremely nice and friendly, we were even offered to leave our luggage there after the check-out so we can spend the last day in Paris without dragging our backpacks around. I should also add that we were each greeted with a mini soap, shower gel, shampoo, and a tiny parfume, as if we came to a hotel, plus Muriel had orange juice, bread, coffee, milk, butter etc. waiting for us, everything one needs for a nice breakfast - that was a really nice touch!
Thank you, Muriel and family, we are definitely coming back to stay with you and already can't wait for it!
The room was exactly as described, and a lovely setting. The maps and materials were very helpful, and the kitchen supplies plentiful. A peaceful room with a comfortable bed, I hope I can return again someday. Thank you!
I had a lovely time staying with Muriel. She and her family are very kind hosts, and I felt completely at home in their "Hobbit Studio," which was very clean and calm with a lovely view of their garden. I also received some great recommendations from Muriel and her husband for fun things to do in Paris. I found Vincennes to be a convenient and comfortable place to stay when visiting Paris. There was a nice little market near the main street every day I was there, and lots of young people and families taking walks or sitting on sidewalk cafés. The Metro 1 line is very direct to the center of Paris (it takes about 20 minutes to get to Hotel de Ville).
Muriel's Hobbit Studio in Paris-Vincennes was everything I expected it to be and more! It was very comfortable with a cozy bed and everything you need is provided in your room. Vincennes was a gorgeous town and is home to one of Paris' large parks. The Chateau de Vincennes is very impressive. It is super easy to jump on the Metro and took 15-20 minutes to arrive in center city Paris. I will probably stay here again just because it was so perfect. Muriel and her family were very sweet and she provided all the information I needed to get around the city. Thanks again for everything Muriel!
Thanks Muriel, Alex and kids for our great stay at The Little Hobbit, a neat compact space. It was perfect as a base, easy walking distance to the Metro and RER stations, quite neighbourhood with busy city centre just a couple of blocks away with shopping, restaurants and bakeries. We knew we had picked the right place with the great greeting we got from the whole family when we arrived. A first choice next time we have a short stopover in Paris.
Another lovely stay with Muriel and family. I was pleased to be able to enjoy their pretty little studio in the Paris spring time - the garden was especially lovely! I look forward to returning very soon.
If you're traveling alone, stay here! (Or if you're traveling as a pair, and enjoy being a little cozy.)
Muriel and her family are kind and generous hosts offering excellent accommodations. While I was staying with them, I always felt welcome and comfortable in their home and in the garden cottage where I stayed. Muriel speaks fluent English and even forgave my broken attempts at French; her advice on navigating the city and her pleasant conversation were always enjoyable ways to begin and end the day. The room itself was clean, well-maintained, comfortably private, and tastefully decorated. The bedding is comfortable, and the small cooking area was more than adequate to all of my basic eating-in needs, though I often ate out. The area around Muriel's hobbit studio is absolutely gorgeous - the Bois de Vincennes is an extensive and beautiful walking park (free and open to the public), complete with floral gardens, scenic lakes, a medieval fortress, and plenty of benches to sit and think. The park is a 5-10 minute walk from the studio, as are train stations for the main east-west Parisian metro and regional commuter rail lines. So if you want to leave the beautiful Vincennes for the world wonders of center city, they're only a short train ride away.
This room is a great deal, and I highly recommend it. I would absolutely return the next time I'm on the Continent!
