About This Listing
This ground floor apartment is situated in a beautiful historic (monumental) canal house. Nicoline's canal side apartment
We had a very pleasant four night stay in Nicoline's apartment. The location is excellent in the Jordaan area right next to the Nine Streets area. It is a very safe area and it was pleasant to sit in front of the apartment and watch people walk and ride by on the street and on the canal. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance. Rainarai is very good Moroccan and Mazzo is good Italian cuisine. Ree7 is good for lunch. Transportation is easy also. We took the train from the airport to Centraal Station then the 13 or 17 tram to Westerkerk. We bought a three day GVB tram/bus pass and used it a lot during our stay. When we left, we took an Uber car to Crentraal Station. The tram stops about two blocks from the apartment. It was easy to walk as well, except for the vast multitude of bikes which are everywhere and have priority over pedestrians. Just be sure to look carefully both ways anytime you take a step.
The apartment itself was also comfortable. It has a nice kitchen, comfortable sofa, useful dining table, and washer and dryer which are extremely handy for a traveller. The bed is a bit tricky. It is built-in and is about three feet high. It takes a two step stool to climb up. One needs to be careful not to fall out if taking a night time bathroom break. Otherwise the bed itself is very comfortable. Also since the apartment is ground floor level, people walking along the street are right next to the bedroom window and you can easily hear their conversation. Thankfully there were not too many coming past in the early morning hours while we were trying to sleep (but there were some).
All in all we were very happy with this apartment and would stay again.
The apartment is situated in a lovely part of town on a quiet canal which is really pretty. The area is full of quirky shops with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. There are also lots of interesting things to visit in the area. The perfect area to stay in!
There is a supermarket a couple of minutes walk away and a tram stop a similar distance, we also hired bikes, again close by. I highly recommend getting around by bike.
The apartment decor is very stylish and you can see the owner has done a great job making the most of the space. Everything you need is in the apartment, all home comforts.
We had a great time and would recommend this apartment.
My husband and I loved our stay at Nicoline's beautiful apartment. She has put so much care into decorating it and making you feel at home for your stay. We loved having our morning coffee and breakfast (from a nearby cafe) outside on the bench overlooking the canal and were just a few minutes walk to my favorite part of Amsterdam, the 9 streets. Nicoline left us great recommendations on restaurants in the area and places to visit. She was very accommodating for our check in and out time and was quick to respond to any questions. I cannot wait to return and stay here again one day. It was a dream!
Absolutely perfect, apart from one major flaw for older guests with arthritic susceptibilities - an elevated built-in bed of a similar height to the breakfast-bar, but only accessible from one side (via non-fixed & slightly wobbly narrow two-step ladder stool).
If this had been evident from either photos or description, we would never have booked.
At first sighting, we seriously considered baling out to a hotel or flying back early but, after costing those options, decided to salvage what we could from a thoroughly unsuitable situation.
Never been so glad to get home!
Nicoline made my stay very easy. She found a way to get me keys to the apartment even though I arrived at midnight. The apartment was fantastic, in a great area, easy to walk to everything in the city.
