The linen at Janet's accommodation was lovely and fresh. There was enough room for 4 people to spread out and have a sleeping area each. Although the location was out from the CBD a little this didn't present a problem and the Westfield shopping centre at nearby Belconnen had a large supermarket and there are plenty of restaurants in the Belconnen area.
Janet’s house in MacKellar shares a large suburban block with an occupied granny flat in the back yard. Given that about 8 metres separates the glass rear doors of the house from the glass front entrance of the granny flat, I felt at times that the privacy of both guests and granny flat occupants was compromised unless curtains on backyard-facing glass were kept drawn. For example, the sound of conversations travelled easily between open doors in the two properties. Access to the house was simple and Janet was easy to communicate with, although we didn’t meet face-to-face during our stay. The three bedrooms all had double or larger beds, although access to the tub in the laundry was a bit restricted while this area was used to store three single bed mattresses. Light sleepers need to consider that the house is exposed to busy traffic noise from nearby William Slim Drive (see the location map), but we found the noise diminished late at night. The kitchen had a fridge but no freezer, a slight problem for people who like to bring their own food and drink. Air conditioning was untested. My linen was clean, bed was firm and my friends who used the other two rooms reported no problems. Bathroom and toilet were very clean, as was the kitchen and the interior generally. This house appears largely original and shows its 30-to-40-year age in places, but will give spacious and comfortable accommodation for three adults. Many former guests in the guest book have remarked on the capacity of the house to take larger groups in a city where few AirBnB listings offer this, and I agree.
The place is nice , clean and it's located 20 mins to the CBD , the zone is very quiet.
the place is perfect is you are travelling with a big family .Plenty of space .
I highly recommended this place
Had a great time, close to city and neighbouring areas. Easy to find and close to amenities. Enjoyed the fresh baked cake on arrival.
Very nice house very conveniently located for us near Belconnen. Fully equipped kitchen and washing machine were a big plus. We were in Canberra for daughter's wedding, and had a car, so did not use bus, but did notice that there is a stop nearby. Janet is extremely friendly and helpful, an excellent host, and a great representative for Airbnb. Highly recommended!
We really happy with the location of this place in Canberra - central to everything. Very spacious for our family of five and we had all the amenities we needed. Very safe area for the family. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Canberra. Janet was a great communicator - very easy to deal with. Thank you for a lovely stay in Canberra. Great for families.
Janet communicated with me very well before and during our stay. Janet provided fresh bread and other supplies to make things easier for us initially and this was appreciated. The house was tidy and clean and provided all that we needed for 6 of us for our week in Canberra. The location was easy to find and was located with easy access to both the city centre (15 mins) and surrounding suburbs. If you are after a basic clean house to base yourself from in Canberra then contact Janet and go from there. You will need a car though.
Neat, clean cottage quiet neighbourhood. We enjoyed our stay v much comfortable beds and brand new linen !! We loved Canberra
