We have recently remodeled four wide rooms , all with private bath, hot water and air conditioned.
One room is only for two people with a queen bed, another one has queen bed and a single bed, and two rooms have queen bed and a two stairs bed, for an occupancy of four people.
we don't have TV sets and telephone in the rooms, but there is free Wi-Fi in the rooms and in the restaurant, Il Giardino en la Playa!!, that is facing the Ocean front.
The furniture are simple but functional, the bed of good quality and the cleaning and hygiene are absolutely of first importance for us, both for the rooms and for the preparation of our legendary recipes.
We are located at 100 metres East from the Public Pier, directly on the fine sand Beach, where sea turtles come to feed on the weeds of the bottom, and where is possible to watch a lot of sea bird and Dolphins.
In the Mangroves in the back of the Hotel lives a group of Capucine Monkeys that, often come to eat the fruit of the restaurant while Scarlet macaws come to feed on the Almond trees of the front , on the beach.
The bus stop is at 800-900 metres from us, the ferry boat from Golfito is docking at the Public pier, at 150 metres, and the road from S. Jose' is now almost perfect.
for staying of any length, is possible to study some kind of plan that include breakfast, lunch and dinner, in any combination, up to offer sandwiches made with our fresh made bread to the people that want to hike of do some sea tour, all things that we can help to organize directly, using our net or safe and professional collaborators, including too flights reservation and car renting.
We just returned from Costa Rica and our three nights in Puerto Jimenez. From the moment we arrived Giulio and Cecilia were warm, friendly and incredibly gracious hosts. Our room was exactly what we needed for three of us, and the a/c helped us survive the heat while there. Giulio was more than willing to make adjustments to his menu to accommodate our vegan needs, going so far as to make a vegetable linguini for us on our last night there.
They were also very helpful in making sure we were able to get up and out to meet our guide on the day we did our excursion into Corcovado National Park.
Guilio is a fantastic host! He was very helpful with travel tips and a pleasure to meet. The rooms are simple, spacious and comfortable. His restaurant is fantastic. The food does not come quickly because it is all prepared fresh to order. It was lovely to sit on the oceanfront and eat spectacular food. Guilio's location is the most desirable in Peurto Jimenez.
I had a wonderful stay in Puerto Jimenez and the beach location of this B & B and restaurant had a lot to do with it. The scarlet macaws flocked in to settle in the trees over the restaurant each evening. The setting is with beach front tables that can't be matched anywhere in town. The restaurant food was superb as was the included breakfast. The room was clean and safely off the street. It is however rustic, but the value as being budget oriented was good. Giulio's family are involved with the service provided and they were wonderful people to be around. I also borrowed one of their kayaks for free and enjoyed myself on the bay.
This was the perfect place for us to stay before our Corcovado hike. We had to leave early to head to Carate the next morning and Giulio was very accommodating. He offered to leave us something for breakfast in the fridge so we could grab it on our way out and we were able to store a bag here until we returned. Puerto Jimenez is hot and sticky so having AC in the room was wonderful. The restaurant that Giulio runs in the front is great, everything we ordered was amazing. I would stay here again!
The Osa Peninsula is a great place to go to get away from the crowds of people up north (i.e. Manuel Antonio) and to see the plethora of special wildlife in Corcovado National Park. You need to be in good shape to access the park because of the great distance required to hike in, but it is well worth the effort to see the scarlet macaws, anteaters, poison dart frogs, etc. Before and after our park visit, we enjoyed a fun and relaxing stay in Puerto Jimenez, thanks to this great B&B offering delicious food in a beachfront atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a fantastic location near the public pier. Our favorite thing to do in Puerto Jimenez was to watch the comings and goings of the birds and boats while we enjoyed a cup of coffee or glass of wine at a beachfront table. A special feature of the area is the parrots and ibis coming in to roost each evening at dusk and taking off again in the morning. We also took day trips for snorkeling and dolphin watching, and to visit Gulfito across the Gulfo Dulce. Our room was plain but clean (although not serviced on a daily basis), and the air conditioning was much appreciated as the area can be quite hot and humid. The location is a bit noisy on weekend nights as nearby bars crank up their music, but the air conditioner pretty much drowned it out so we had no trouble sleeping. Giulio was a great host, making us feel quite at home and helping us with any little need or question we might have. He is an accomplished woodworker as well as chef, and we enjoyed the variety of menu items and relaxed atmosphere of the Il Giardino. He also has a couple of kayaks that he lends out to customers, which we enjoyed.
Giulio's place is tucked behind his restaurant Il Giardino across a small road from the Golfo Dulce. The room was nice enough, with a very comfortable bed which seemed to be some kind of memory foam.
The room itself was not beachfront - we didn't mind since we did not spend too much time in the room except while sleeping. The restaurant is beachfront with an option to sit inside or outside, or across the street right on the Golfo.
The bathroom in the room was nice and big. The shower is electric heat at the nozzle, which doesn't work that great, leading to a sort of luke-warm shower, which we didn't like so much the first night after a cold ride across the Golfo from Golfito, but the water temperature was just right after a hot, sweaty, 20km hike through Corcovado. So just keep in mind that a hot, hot shower might not be forthcoming, but on a hot day you probably won't mind!
Giulio and his wife were very kind and helpful during our stay, and watched our bags while we hiked overnight in Corcovado. We really enjoyed Il Giardino restaurant too, twice :)! The included breakfast (fruit and bread) was tasty, and throw in a beachfront table and it is a top notch experience.
Giulio and his family are awesome. They did everything to make us feel the most comfortable as possible! The room (that gets cleaned every day) had a beautiful Window to the forest so we had original jungle feeling every day. Giulio and his team are also great cooks! We spend a lot of time sitting at the beautiful sea front eating the fantastic breakfast with fresh fruits or having lunch or dinner. You should also try their fresh fruit shakes!we absolutely recommend staying here!
Giulio's is a great place to stay in Puerto Jimenez. One note right away: the rooms are in the back of the restaurant Il Giardino. We made the mistake of arriving without actually knowing where we were going. Luckily a friendly taxi driver phoned Giulio and got directions for us. If you're arriving by plane or bus, it's not too far to walk around towards the beach to find the restaurants.
Each room has air conditioning, and our room (at the back of the house) had a large window onto the mangrove - wonderful. The room is made up each morning with fresh towels. The bedroom and bathroom were both quite large. Wifi is included. Breakfast (fruits and toast) is included). And the restaurant is quite nice, too, if you're tired of casados and want a traditional Italian meal with a Costa Rican flair.
Giulio was able to help us with directions and suggestions about how to access Corcovado. He was always available for any questions we had about the city or anything else.
a few words that come to mind when I think about our stay at Giulio's: welcoming and beautiful. it was the perfect place to fully enjoy the charms of Puerto Jimenez and rest after our hike to Corcovado national park. our highlights: the window of our room giving on the mangrove and having breakfast overlooking the sea whilst surrounded by wild macaws parrots..Great location, good value, lovely and helpful hosts.
Our time in Puerto Jimenez was wonderful...! ...and Giulio and his very nice family and team helped us with every question we had, were always nice and friendly and served us a delicious meal. We very much enjoyed our nice, big and clean room with the bath... we were looking into the mangrroves, observed hummingbirds, monkeys and other animals directly from our room... although we spent so much time outside. The beach promenade is just in front of the door. Relaxed from a quiet night and your good room you can explore Puerto Jimenez from there... a beautiful place with delicous food and very, very nice local people!! Go there and visit Giulio and his family and try their food... it´s like paradise! :-)
