Welcome! I am a licensed (since 2000) Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor and soap and body care formulator. Our (me and my 8 year old boy's) apartment is right on the Smith College campus (where I graduated from the Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education program.) I am currently pursuing a Master's in Occupational Therapy.
It is a small apt. that feels more like a tree house when looking out the window, which is rare for in-town living. When we are here it is one shared bathroom, connected to the room that is yours and when we are away, it is all yours!!!
There is a waterfall on campus as well as the Botanical Gardens, Art Museum, libraries and walking/biking trails. We are a two minute walk to town, the Forbes library and East Heaven hot tubs. It is a Beautiful campus atmosphere and we share our home with two lovely cats to keep you company, outdoor Yossi (the black long haired male) and indoor Coco (the tiger female) :-) We also just welcomed Pookie to the family (an adorable little black Chiuauah mix.)
You may have an in home massage if you wish (please schedule early to ensure an appointment!) East Heaven Hot Tubs is walking distance.
Upon request i will formulate body care especially for guests.
When emailing your request please be clear about your wishes, expectations, goals, etc for the comfort and success of your visit
p.s. there is a laundromat in town and we have a fan for summer. We have two adult bikes and one child's (age 7 and up) for rental with helmets ($15/day)
We look forward to hosting you in Northampton!
See you soon,

We arrived to find not only a place to spend a few nights but to fairyland. Rachel weaves her life in a cocoon of silk and gold and makes her guests feel safe and secure in this wonderful aura. I have made a friend in Rachel and my daughter has found a play partner in Rachel's son Emmet. Our experience has made our visit to Smith College all the more rewarding. We hope to return soon.
Rachel's home was in the perfect location--within walking distance of both Smith College and beautiful, unique downtown Northampton. My father stayed with Rachel while I was moving onto the Smith campus, and found Rachel to be very informative about the area, as well as a very interesting person to talk in general. Rachel was absolutly fantastic.
Rachel was a wonderful host. We instantly felt at ease with her. The apartment itself was cozy and not suited to people who prefer isolation or a much space to themselves, but Rachel was quick to make sure we felt at home and had everything we needed inside the apartment and with the rest of our plans during the stay.
When we mentioned our interest in a walk nearby, she offered to guide us around the outdoor sights of Smith's campus and we had a great experience seeing her favorite spots.
We love Northampton and Rachel's place is perfectly located to enjoy downtown or Smith--a short walk to the farmers market and all the wonderful shops and restaurants the town has to offer.
Rachel and Emmet were great hosts. We were in town for my daughter's graduation from Smith and we were looking for a place near campus. Everything about our stay at Rachel's was perfect. Awesome
Rachel was a wonderful, very caring host. Always made sure I was comfortable, having a good time, and well-fed! She's also a delight to converse with. I didn't think of myself as a cat person really, but Coco and Yossi might have changed that for good! Overall, Rachel's house is an excellent place to be to enjoy Northampton and some good company.
rachel and her son are extremely thoughtful, kind and generous and their home is adorable ..... i loved how close it is both to beautiful hiking trails and a very progressive/ fun downtown area :)
Rachel was really amazing, and the place was magical !
Such a great host. There was a spread of healthy appetizers on the table as I arrived on Friday evening that , actually, formed a great light dinner !:)
The formula of her scent oils is exquisite, and she did a session with me to choose what works for me (I got to take my new"perfume" with me.)
And the bed...my first time on a "memory bed" was awesome !!!!
Breakfast was superb as well...
Highly reccomended !:)
"Funky" is just the right word. Rachel's apartment is neither luxurious nor particularly tidy, but it is still comfortable in a quirky sort of way. Rachel and her son Emmet are fine hosts. She lavishes lots of attention on her guests, even though in my case she was preparing to leave the country for a month and had a lot on her mind.
My two friends and I stayed with Rachel this past Saturday night in her funky apartment. She was nothing but gracious and hospitable throughout our stay - serving us breakfast appetizers, letting us use her bikes and just being a great hostess in general. She even made us our own personalized aromatherapy oils to take home. Very caring!!
I will say, though, that her apt is a bit more cluttered than the pictures show, but other than that, we had a great stay!
Rachel responds promptly to email and is eager to answer all your questions. Great communication with this host.
