This is a quirky yet beautiful apartment in an old, secluded duplex (Unit A) that is tucked away behind other houses in the gorgeous Maple Leaf neighborhood in North Seattle. Five minutes from UW and ten minutes from Pike Place Market, it's a cozy, sweet shaded haven for your visit to the Pacific Northwest. It can host up to five people, with one full/queen bed in the bedroom, a full/queen sofa bed in the living room, and a single inflatable mattress in the closet.

The space
The duplex is a historical building built as a barn in the 1930s. The north fence of the property marked the border of the city of Seattle which later extended further north. The structure was converted to a charming single story home in the middle of the last century.
The living space has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and a modern ceiling fan. A sturdy vintage gas heater graces the wall. The floors and windows are new, while the underlying architecture is a bit rustic and off kilter. The beautiful gas range is also new (the pictures feature the old one). You will have all the luxury touches you would need in the kitchen, including organic coffees and teas, spices and basic ingredients at your fingertips, excellent cutlery and pots and pans, dishes and glassware. I also provide organic cotton sheets and towels, plenty of duvets and even a heated throw for the winter.
There is a variety of books about Pacific Northwest hikes and sights, and a diverse selection of fiction to read. The TV has Roku and i share my Netflix account with my guests.
It's a warm, private and inviting space to retreat after your wild adventuring in the Pacific Northwest! Enjoy.

Guest access
The front door has a key code that will be set for you; usually I use the last four digits of your phone number. You’ll get a massage from me prior to your arrival with the door code information and directions. You have the entire apartment plus a full laundry room for your use 24/7. There's also a private off-street parking spot as well as plenty of street parking.

Other things to note
You're in one of the best locations in Seattle not only for getting down to Pike Place Market or the University of Washington, but also for heading north to the Skagit Valley and the San Juan Islands, east to the Cascade Mountains, and west to the gorgeous Olympic Peninsula. There are incredibly convenient bus lines that run all over the city just a block from this house.

SECURITY: This is a safe neighborhood, but do lock your vehicles at night. I have motion-activated security cameras in the yard.

WINTER: On the rare occasions in wintertime when the temperature drops to freezing, in addition to the gas heater, there are portable heating fans, extra quilts, and an electric blanket if needed.

SUMMER: Very few homes in Seattle have air conditioning, because there are maybe 14 days out of the year when it’s hot here. If it’s warm in the apartment, keep the curtains closed during the day and keep the ceiling fan and other fans on and circulating air. Use fans and open the front door when you get home to move air through the apartment and cool it down for sleep. After the sun sets here the temperature always drops to a comfortable range.

Seattle, Washington, United States

The Maple Leaf neighborhood is a quiet, pretty, well established neighborhood directly north of the University of Washington. 10 minute drive from Pike Place Market and downtown Seattle, 15 minutes from three different ferry docks, 30 minutes from the Cascade mountains, convenient to everything. People who live here "love the Leaf". Maple Leaf also has its own coffee shops, brew pubs, diners and funky hangouts, too, and is walking distance from Greenlake, one of the most popular destinations in the Seattle area for a long walk, stand up paddle boarding, kayak rentals and other recreation.
All of this will be provided in my guest details and you can go exploring on foot.

Rowing coach, jewelry artist project manager/business analyst, and now, hostess! I love providing a secluded, clean, pretty, funky Seattle space for people who are visiting the Pacific Northwest. I've lived here for 20 years and love to share this beautiful place. I love Seattle; it has two mountain ranges, many lakes, the ocean, rugged hiking, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, great culture, amazing food, and you can row year round. Perfect for me. My hosting style is hands off; you're here to play and enjoy the scene. I'm rarely home anyway (usually out on the water) but I love to be available to help with anything! Just message me on Airbnb.
