About This Listing
Amazing coastal views from a characterful apartment perched in a medieval village. Mountain walks, culture, food and French village life to hand in this retreat that is also just a short drive from Nice airport, and the fun of the cote d'azur.
An apartment in the medieval village of St Jeannet in the Alps Maritimes. Just short drive from the Cote D'Azur and about half an hour or so from Nice airport, this rural retreat combines the charm of mountain living with accessibility to the cultural and coastal life of France's Riviera. The apartment has a lovely kitchen diner, a double bedroom and shower room. There is a sofa bed in the kitchen diner too, and two small z beds for kids in a mezzanine area. It comfortably sleeps a couple or a family with two kids. Because the village is steep and the kids' beds are on a mezzanine with steep stairs we suggest that some of you may consider it is more suited to slightly older children (6+) though our own kids have grown up there from babies. It also has a large patio looking out over the coast. With its own olive tree to provide shade form those who seek it, the patio also has lovely wooden loungers for sunbathing and exterior tables for eating out under the (website hidden) Jeannet is a small quiet village perched above the town of Vence. Much of the village is inaccessible by car and so it feels restful and calm. Because it is a mountain village it has stunning views. But those who are elderly or infirm may find some of the inclines in the village a challenge. It is a well known walking and climbing centre, but also close to the coastal resorts of Nice, Cagnes sur Mer and Antibes. The area is well known for its galleries and museums as well fabulous food and great weather. This apartment can be rented in conjunction with the apartment below, which has another double bedroom, as well as a further lounge and sofa bed and shower room.
You have access to the entire property, its garden and wifi.
Interaction with Guests
We are not permanently in St Jeannet. This is effectively a self catering let, with the usual expectations. We provide linen, and basic conveniences for your arrival (there will be toilet paper, a little washing up liquid etc) but you will have to replace these items yourself if you are staying more than a day or so. We are online nearly always and just a call away and have friends in the village if you need assistance.
St Jeannet is a medieval village built on a hill and so not great for people who find walking tricky. But if you a are fit, it's heaven and a great place for hiking and mountaineering. There are restaurants and bakeries, local markets, a vineyard and plenty of provencal atmosphere and breathtaking views
Buses from Vence, as well as Nice and the Coast mean that you don't have a car to visit, but a small car is a bonus to explore the region
Other Things to Note
You can take mountaineering and canyoning trips from St Jeannet which is recommended in the summer. But equally the coast is only a half hour drive away!
Check in is after 4 pm and check out by 10.00 am. The house is fully equipped and we provide linen and towels. Keys are normally sent out by post so please allow for this when booking. We can sometimes provide keys on site for very last minute bookings. Although our kids have always stayed there, we would however say that the apartment is not necessarily suitable for very young children. But we can fill you in on (website hidden) Jeannet is accessible by bus, but we'd recommend a car. Most of the village is just steps and so, like most places in the village, you have to park in one of the free car parks in the village and walk to the house. There are two parking places reasonably close to our house. We are not permanently in St Jeannet. This is effectively a self catering let, with the usual expectations.
What a holiday! My boyfriend and I found the place to be as expected - if not even better. The flat was cozy, and the view from the private, huge terrace was absolutely amazing. Franny was a wonderful host and always easy to reach. The purpose of our stay was rock climbing, but we can imagine it to be the perfect place for relaxation and hiking. With the info Franny sent us by mail, the place was easy to find. We travelled by bus from Nice, which was no problem at all (use the app: Lignes D'Azur). A few things we experienced: the washing machine is brand new (big plus!), and the town at the bottom of the hill has everything you need: restaurants, bakery etc (just double check the opening hours for the grocery store). Thanks again, Franny! We definitely look forward to coming back :-)
We had a fab time at franny's apartment. The flat is nice, cosy and well-equipped. The terrace is a dream, the views are breathtaking -all in all an absolute gem! We would love to return next spring.
What adds up to the amazing time we spent their was Franny's super friendly and easy way to communicate. She always responded to our -even sometimes silly- questions quickly and helpful. We felt very welcome at her place, even without meeting her.
Very professional and detailed arriving service. The apartment is as described and the view from the window and the terrace is unbeatable any time of the day. The apartment is very well placed in a lovely small and relaxed mountain village. I really used the advantage of being near hiking trails and a morning hike up to the Le Baou is the best start of the day you can have. From the top you have views over the southern Alps and as far to the west. I slept like a baby in the quite neighbourhood. The wifi worked out perfectly as I needed to work from the apartment. I used the food store and a very nice coffee shop just below the village. The place is open early and have sandwiches and pastries.
A comfortable apartment with lots of character and a truly amazing terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and sea. The village of St Jeannet is so pretty with a maze of old streets and winding steps, a good work out for the legs! Lots of good walking in the surrounding hills and close enough to the coast to enjoy all the beaches.
Franny the host could not have been more helpful in booking our week and advising on things to do. Would definitely book again.
This garden flat is absolutely perfect! We loved to stay here for one week. If you have a car you definitely need more time to experience the coast. The little village is so beautiful and not touristic. Some nice restaurants and everything you need. Even if some shops were closed for holiday now. People around were so friendly and always helpful. The weather was perfect too - we didn't expect 27 degrees and most of the time sunny weather in october. That's why we didn't get so much around because we need to lie on the terrace and enjoy this view. So we definetly want to come back. The contact with Franny was so uncomplicated and familiar. Thanks for this great location!
Where to begin...
This place is magical! Marietta and I spend 10 days in Saint Jeannet and had a beautiful time. I actually celebrated my 30th birthday there and couldn't be happier about that choice. The view is breathtaking, the village one of the most cozy and beautiful in the region, albeit lacking the huge amount of tourists who flock St Paul or Grasse.
Franny was very good organized and very welcoming. Communication was also easy and fast.
So all in all we can really highly recommend this place.
