A two story apartment in the medieval village of St Jeannet in the Alps Maritimes. Just short drive from the Cote D'Azur and about half an hour or so from Nice airport, this rural retreat combines the charm of mountain living with accessibility to the cultural and coastal life of France's Riviera. The apartment, is actually built against the rock face of the Baou de St Jeannet, and the mountain's pinkish rock makes a natural wall to the lower floor. The apartment has a lovely kitchen diner on the ground floor and on the first floor a double bedroom and shower room with views out over the coast. There is a sofa bed in the kitchen diner (website hidden) Jeannet is a small quiet village perched above the town of Vence, but well equipped with excellent bakers and grocers and a handful of restaurants. It is a well known walking and climbing centre, but also close to the coastal resorts of Nice, Cagnes sur Mer and Antibes. The area is well known for its galleries and museums as well fabulous food and great weather. This apartment can be rented in conjunction with a the apartment above it, which has a large patio.. and another double bedroom, as well as a further lounge and sofa (website hidden) Jeannet is a medieval mountain village and it's worth noting that because of its stepped streets and inclines it might not work for those who are elderly or who have mobility issues. There is free parking a short walk from the house.
The apartment is self contained. There is wifi
We are not permanently in St Jeannet. This is a self catering let, with the usual expectations. We provide linen, and basic conveniences for your arrival (there will be toilet paper, a little washing up liquid etc) but you will have to replace these items yourself if you are staying more than a day or so. We are online nearly always and just a call away and have friends in the village if you need assistance.
St Jeannet is a medieval village built on a hill and so not great for people who find walking tricky. But if you a are fit, it's heaven (email hidden) for hiking and mountaineering. There are restaurants and bakeries, local markets, a vineyard and plenty of provencal atmosphere and breathtaking views
Buses from Vence, as well as Nice and the Coast mean that you don't have a car to visit, but a small car is a bonus to explore the region
You can take mountaineering and canyoning trips from St Jeannet which is recommended in the summer. But equally the coast is only a half hour drive away!
We stayed in St. Jeannet for 5 nights and it was an amazing and super relaxing time there! Franny provided important information and was a very helpful, imaginative and responsive host.
Let me share two or three experiences that might be useful for other guests getting to the apartment:
Getting to St. Jeannet by bus from airport nice requires an arrival not much later than 18.00. (We didn't manage that)
So we took a cab. That's about €60,00 + tip.
If your a digital native and your iphone doesn't bother roaming use apples map app instead of (website hidden) Maps - that does not show place du Quierard, neither do inhabitants of St. Jeannet know it ( though they are very friendly, warm helpful!).
After arriving at the apartment enjoy the view and relax!
We'll come back.
This apartment is really nice!
You can spend some romantic evenings near the fireplace inside. And there are very fresh air all around. So if you living in big city it is good place to stay.
It is about an hour on car to the Grand canyon du Verdon - make sure, that you visited this fantastic place.
My wife and I stayed 7 nights in late March. The apartment is old, simple but functional. Good local information was provided by the host and we enjoyed the fireplace each night. It is nestled in the village about 10 minutes steep walk from the nearest parking. Once there, it is easy to walk to the quaint village centre which is very picturesque with lots of good walks to do nearby. It is within easy driving distance to the Riviera coast (20-30 mins). Recommended for those looking for a quiet, secluded escape.
Beautiful apt on 2 floors situated in the village of St-Jeannet. I also had the pleasure of meeting Franny during my stay.
The other apt she has above this one, is also quite lovely and has a very nice terrace. I would definitely stay here again the next time I come, and maybe stay in the top apt. Either way, you can't go wrong.
I definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a place in St-Jeannet.
We stayed this apartment for 5 nights. The village was very nice and we liked this accommodation.
However I found that it was a bit hard to communicate with the owner (only by telephone and email). Also we arrived here late afternoon and it was quite stressful to find this accommodation / key in darkness.
Franny's flat in St-Jeannet is heaven. The neighbors are warm and welcoming, as is everyone on the streets and in the shops of this magical village. The house is well-appointed and charming...a real home away from home. Franny is a delight to work with as well. The only difficulty was leaving....
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Had a fabulous time in St Jeannet.
Relaxing and a break from the norm. The apartment was in a beautiful location, with the most fabulous views.
Just what me and my partner were after.
Franny was a great communicator and made sure we had all the information we needed for a perfect trip.
Staying at Franny's house in incredible Saint-Jeannet was an absolute bliss! We fell in love with the village which is just gorgeous and typical french...far away from the cote d´azur mass tourism! Franny was an amazing host and everything went smoothly. The view is amazing and you're close to many other nice places such as Monaco, Nice, Vence or the city of the parfumes, Grasse.. But i have to say that none of them come close to Saint-Jeannet :)
I loved the bakery! We got addicted to the petit-fours, delicous tarts and fresh banettes! We would highly recommend this place and surely will come back one day.
