A two story apartment in the medieval village of St Jeannet in the Alps Maritimes. Just short drive from the Cote D'Azur and about half an hour or so from Nice airport, this rural retreat combines the charm of mountain living with accessibility to the cultural and coastal life of France's Riviera. The apartment, is actually built against the rock face of the Baou de St Jeannet, and the mountain's pinkish rock makes a natural wall to the lower floor. The apartment has a lovely kitchen diner on the ground floor and on the first floor a double bedroom and shower room with views out over the coast. There is a sofa bed in the kitchen (website hidden) Jeannet is a small quiet village perched above the town of Vence, but well equipped with excellent bakers and grocers and a handful of restaurants. It is a well known walking and climbing centre, but also close to the coastal resorts of Nice, Cagnes sur Mer and Antibes. The area is well known for its galleries and museums as well fabulous food and great weather. This apartment can be rented in conjunction with a the apartment above it, which has a large patio.. and another double bedroom, as well as a further lounge and sofa (website hidden) Jeannet is a medieval mountain village and it's worth noting that because of its stepped streets and inclines it might not work for those who are elderly or who have mobility issues. There is free parking a short walk from the house.
The apartment is self contained. There is wifi
Interaction with Guests
We are not permanently in St Jeannet. This is a self catering let, with the usual expectations. We provide linen, and basic conveniences for your arrival (there will be toilet paper, a little washing up liquid etc) but you will have to replace these items yourself if you are staying more than a day or so. We are online nearly always and just a call away and have friends in the village if you need assistance.
St Jeannet is a medieval village built on a hill and so not great for people who find walking tricky. But if you a are fit, it's heaven and a great place for hiking and mountaineering. There are restaurants and bakeries, local markets, a vineyard and plenty of provencal atmosphere and breathtaking views
Buses from Vence, as well as Nice and the Coast mean that you don't have a car to visit, but a small car is a bonus to explore the region
Other Things to Note
You can take mountaineering and canyoning trips from St Jeannet which is recommended in the summer. But equally the coast is only a half hour drive away!
Check in is after 4 pm please and check out 10.00 am. The house is fully equipped and we provide linen and towels. Keys are normally sent out by post so please allow for this when booking. We can sometimes provide keys on site for very last minute bookings. The apartment is ideal for two people. With the sofa bed you can of course sleep two more if you wanted! St Jeannet is accessible by bus, but we'd recommend a car. Most of the village is just steps and so, like most places in the village, you have to park in one of the free car parks in the village and walk to the house. There are two parking places reasonably close to our house. We are not permanently in St Jeannet. This is effectively a self catering let, with the usual expectations. Perfect stay in a cosy appartment in an authentic village high above the cote d azur. The contact with Franny (via Internet) was quick, friendly and very flexible.
We can always recommend this appartment. It has got everything we needed.
Walking around the mountains is just great.
A highly recommended clean and cosy apartment. The flat is very homy with a great view and is well-equipped with the necessities. The village of St. Jeannet is very charming and is within a close range to Cannes, Nice and other Riviera attractions.
Franny has provided a very detailed information and has followed up closely by email. We thank her for the unforgettable experience for our Christmas vacation.
It is a fantastic rustic cottage in a very pretty village. All the things that you need are there and the view was very nice. The village has some very good restaurants (eg sur la table), and a nice area for walking.
The village is a great base for places like Nice and Monoco. The beach can be reached quite easy.
The contact with Franny went well. Thanks Franny for our nice week at the Provence!
This accommodation was some of the best we have had! Things were available for us when we needed them, that includes the basics such as towels and soap but also kitchen items such as olive oil and pepper.
Note that the wifi works in the entire apartment but best upstairs because the modem is probably in the top floor apartment above this one.
The view was also amazing from the kitchen and bathroom. Sitting outside to enjoy it was easy enough but it did mean that we were in the middle of a stair case (first image on the listing). The ground was uneven so it was too comfortable, but we sat there several times.
We took trips between 30-50 min to Eze, Saint-Paul de Vence, Vence and Nice.
To get groceries go to "Carrafour", to get anything from small shops in the village go early in the morning 8-9am or sometimes in the evenings. Their were closed a lot when we were there. The restaurants in the village we're nothing special for us, instead go to Chez Pipo! Just go and wait for a table (easy for 2 people), then order the socca (best in Nice) and their other local dishes.
Note that there is a washing machine next door separate from the apartment just two steps up the stone stairs.
St. Jeannet is a small lovely village overseeing the French Riviera. People are really nice and friendly. Amazing views from the balcony. The apartment is fully equipped with all you might need to spend your holidays. Our host was always prompt to answer our questions and provide us with all necessary to make our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend to travel by car, it will make your stay a lot more comfortable and flexible. Town is about 20 km from Nice, and all other interesting places like Cannes, Antibes, Monaco, etc. are no more than 65 km. We are definitely thinking of coming back.
Great views from the apartment and the village of St Jeannet is just lovely. It was great to stay there. Had some difficulty finding the apartment because it was pouring rain and we were dragging our suitcases up from the carpark - there doesn't seem to be an numbers on the houses and Franny's place is right at the end of the little street, it's just hard knowing which place is hers. Maybe a photo of what the exterior window/door looks like amongst the really good instructions would help. All good in the end.
