Stay in very classic (yet fully modern) Parisian apartment which is ideally located with great access to transport in a fantastic and safe cool and hip neighbourhood; great new restaurants, cafes, bakeries, stores etc. (without the loud night life!).
Ideally located in "SoPi" (South Pigalle) in the St Georges-Martyrs neighbourhood, the apartment is a beautifully laid out classic Parisian apartment (60m2 or 646ft2) with high ceilings, traditional mouldings, lovely French "point de Hongrie" parquet floors, marble fireplaces, authentic French cafe table and wicker chairs, etc. The apartment also has a new kitchen and new bathroom (with a new hot water boiler providing excellent hot water supply (to the full-sized bathtub) and allowing you to keep the flat warm and cozy). The apartment is bright and overlooks both the street and the courtyard from the first floor (one floor above the ground floor) and the building has a bicycle/stroller room in the ground floor so there is no need to carry up or store those items in the flat.
The bright apartment comprises a large entry foyer, two (2) good bedrooms (each with a new queen-sized bed), a large fully-equipped kitchen (with dishwasher, clothes washer, Nespresso machine, drip coffee machine, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, all essentials etc)), living room (with table and chairs that can seat up to six (6) for meals in), bathroom (with full-sized bathtub/shower) and separate toilet. There is plenty of closet and drawer storage for guests.
The apartment also has a tv, cable tv, wifi Internet, free international calls (to most countries), good stereo (with AUX connection to connect your mp3 player to play your music, music on the hard-drive and internet radio to allow you to listen to your favourite stations from back home), DVD player with large selection of Paris-themed and other DVDs (in English or with English subtitles), iron/ironing board, hair dryer and straightener and brand new linens, pillows, comforters and hand/bath towels only used by guests and professionally cleaned after each visit.
The apartment is just steps off of Rue des Martyrs, a magnificent shopping street which in November, 2012 the New York Times called "the last real street in Paris" and in October, 2014 said the neighbourhood "has in recent years begun to smooth its rougher edges, becoming — slowly, as is the Paris way, but decisively — a hip enclave of boutique hotels and brunch spots".
The 2014 The Guardian said of "South Pigalle, the latest trendsetting neighbourhood in the City of Light"; "South Pigalle, once a quieter corner of Paris, has picked up a new nickname, SoPi, and gone all BoBo (bourgeois bohemian) as a slew of stylish restaurants, bars and shops open in the area". I'd recommend you search for SoPi or South Pigalle to read more or even watch video guides.
You will appreciate its restaurants, fine food and other stores. The apartment is steps away from a bus stop and very close to both St. Georges and Pigalle metro stations (as well as others) so transport is never a problem.
SoPi or South Pigalle, "the Next Marais in the Paris Ninth" arrondissement is the residential area in the ninth just south of Pigalle, roughly speaking, around the Rue des Martyrs market street, down to Notre Dame de Lorette, and incorporating a bit of Nouvelle Athennes to the west."((website hidden))
"Paris's Hot New Neighborhood" "SoPi—has emerged recently as a stylish, slightly bohemian alternative to the Marais. With a refreshingly local vibe (no brand-name stores), it mixes small design shops, casual restaurants, an outstanding bakery, and Hotel Amour, an artiste-designed hotel whose garden restaurant is a Paris rarity. And its local market—on Rue des Martyrs, just north of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette—draws particularly young and sophisticated families, especially on Sunday mornings, when the street is closed to cars and the food shops and stands feel like a country fair." The apartment is on the same small street as the chic and trendy Hotel Amour, several great restaurants, a great little neighbourhood grocery store across the street, one of Paris' best bakeries and the surrounding "Saint-Georges / Martyrs" neighbourhood is just perfect;
As well as being a short stroll to the tourist favourite Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, this friendly and cultural district, south of Pigalle, is very pleasant. Discover the charm of the Place Saint Georges: its fountain, the hotel Dosne-Thiers and its gardens that offer a peaceful haven for local residents. Just around the corner is the charming Place Gustave Toudouze and its Wallace fountain, ideal for lunch or dinner on the terrace. A little further down you can admire the Church Notre Dame de Lorette and have a walk along or shop on Rue des Martyrs.
I can only say thank you so much peter. Everything was as described and I felt at home the minute I stepped foot in the apartment! The area is very quaint and seems to have grown since I last visited paris 5 years ago.
Peter has compiled the most user friendly and complete welcome packet imagine able.
Thank you so much peter. 11 out of 10 stars.
This is a really lovely apartment - I stayed there for 2 weeks and was very sad to leave at the end! It's pretty and feels very Parisian without being over-the-top about it. It's a good price for the space you get too - two good sized bedrooms with double beds and closet space in each, as well as a gorgeous living area and separate kitchen, bathroom etc. Everything works well, fast wi-fi, and the heating is brilliant - we were there in the middle of winter and the apartment was always toasty.
The area is great - really easy Metro access to all the main sights, walking distance to Sacre Coeur, but away from the overly touristy areas and absolutely surrounded by wonderful little places to eat, drink and shop. I will definitely return to this area and apartment if it's available next time I go to Paris.
Peter is an excellent host - very available and attentive without being at all intrusive, and he really went the extra mile to accommodate my last minute booking request. Highly recommended!
We just spent five weeks at Peter's place and had a great time. The apartment was clean and beautiful and Peter could not have been more accommadating. Everything worked out perfectly.
We enjoyed a very spacious living room filled with art, books, DVD's, games and quality furnishings. The bedroom and bed are very comfortable. And the kitchen has everything you need. The apartment is warm is also cosy. The building and security is also to a very high standard and the neighbourhood is simply great.
I would highly recommend this place, thank you very much Peter
This is best neighborhood if anybody likes food and be close to the center of Paris. Regarding PETER and an apartment ..... Just Great!!!!......
Peter was the perfect host,we couldn't have asked for anything better.
He has thought of everything to make the most of his apartment, convenient for all.
It is convenient for excellent eateries, close to two Metros and a very safe environment.
My son and I recently stayed in Peter's apartment in Paris and loved the atmosphere! It is convenient to Montmarche and to the metro station and food stores and restaurants are just around the corner. Gare du Nord is less than a mile away and we walked there with our suitcases to take the train to the airport. Peter did a great job of orienting us to the building and to the area and was helpful in many ways. It was nice to get away from the tourist areas after a day of sightseeing and see "real" Paris! Although small, it was just right for us. Having a washer was a plus also.
This apartment was amazing. I stayed here with a buddy during our semester on exchange and have nothing but great things to say about the apartment. The apartment was very clean when we arrived, and the host went above and beyond expectations to make the transition as smooth as possible. The neighborhood was fantastic and the apartment was very convenient to two separate metro lines. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone interested in an authentic Parisian experience in a fabulous location. This apartment also seemed very modestly price for how much you get in return.
