Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
"Glamping at its' best"! 16' x 16' TreeHouse, suspended between 3 large fir trees, queen size bed, loft w/2 twin beds, composting toilet, much more, situated on 20 acres with a pond. Gas heater, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot. IMPORTANT: this is a Tree House! Going up the spiral staircase is an adventure in itself, so pack small bags (or packs) (large suitcases are not appropriate). Be sure to look at the pictures & read our reviews... that provides the most information. Happy Travels!

The space
Sorry, young ones, the Treehouse is NOT suitable for children under AGE 7, due to spiral staircase and ladder to the loft. There is a guest cottage on the property for families with young children.

Our Tree House sits on our 20-acre property at the base of Mt. Hood (about an hour east off downtown Portland - a great city to explore!). We are 30 minutes west of Ski Bowl and the Mt. Hood National Forrest. We are within 30-60 minutes of three Mt. Hood Ski areas.

You will ascend a unique spiral staircase up to the Treehouse. The Treehouse is approximately 200 square feet, with an 8'x10' sleeping loft. The main floor has a queen bed, bistro table, reading chair, mini frig, coffee maker, microwave, composting toilet and cold water sink. There is a seating area below the Treehouse as well, so you can sit by a fire and enjoy the outdoors even if it is raining (a good thing in Oregon). Picnic table (not covered) and gas grill (in covered area) are available for your use.

If you like camping or backpacking, you will love the treehouse. It is 'Glamping' (Glamorous Camping). If you prefer more amenities (like porcelain toilets and an indoor shower), check out ourSweet Mountain Guest Cottage on our property, also listed on AirBnB. The Magical Treehouse does have access to an OUTDOOR SHOWER with hot water! - *not available when temperatures are below 40 degrees.

This is a unique property, please view "House Rules" prior to booking. The Treehouse is NOT suitable for children under AGE 7, due to spiral staircase and ladder to the loft. This is also NOT suitable for people who are afraid of dogs, we have two friendly, playful Labradors: Woody and Jessie and this is their home.

Need more room? You can add our Glamping tent to any Treehouse reservation for an additional $100/night. You can sleep an additional 2 people there. Contact us in the messages to ask more about it.

The Magical Treehouse was featured on the BuzzFeed series "HomeBuddies." You can view the episode (and get a great idea of the property) by going to Youtube, use the search terms: "Buzzfeed Homebuddies "I lived in a treehouse". There are multiple episodes, the treehouse is episode 4.

The Magical Treehouse was also featured on "TRIP101": Nine Treehouses in Oregon That You Should Book Now. Visit their website to read the article.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to both demand and to ensure that each guest gets the full experience of being here (which can't be done in one night), the minimum two-night stay is non-negotiable.

Guest access
Our 20-acre property has trails all over winding through beautiful trees. There are springs on the property, several which feed our 1 acre pond. The pond has a small island, kayaks and a zip line for adventurous folks that want to jump in and add to their experience! The pond is great for swimming, is stocked with trout (feeding, but no fishing), and is fun to paddle around in. There is a lovely garden (in the summer) and a row boat for a quiet afternoon. Outdoor activities (depending on weather) can include hiking around on the trails, disc golf, carpet-ball, horseshoes, a pendulum swing, and basketball. Additionally, there is a Sweet Mountain Guest Cottage (also listed with AirBnB) on the property.

Other things to note
For the Treehouse, the most important thing is to have a sense of adventure and be ready to "rough it" a bit - (that means no hot water and an outdoor shower-not available when temps are below 40 degrees)... but beyond that - it is delux!

PLEASE NOTE: We have two family dogs, easy going labradors. One Chocolate (about 85 pounds) one Yellow (about 70 pounds). The dogs are generally home and loose on the property. They are very friendly, love chasing balls and going on walks around the property on our trails. If you are not comfortable interacting with these dogs, this is not appropriate listing for you.
Like most labs, they enjoy interacting with new people. They are fun to place fetch with, and they love to dive into the pond to retrieve balls!. They are super friendly (maybe sometimes too much so). We have no problem with you saying "no" to them or shooing them away. They are young (both under two) and are still learning socialization. If anyone in your group is uncomfortable with large dogs, this is NOT a good match for you. This is Woody and Jessie's home. If you like dogs, you will enjoy our furry friends!

If you wish to have more than the allotted 4 people; you can request our Glamping Tent (sleeps two) or our Pond Cottage (much like a Yurt - also sleeps two) or our Tentsil (a hanging tent suspended in the trees).

•Internet note: we are located in a fairly remote location, and have relatively poor internet service (no good service is available to us). We encourage you to make the most of your time by giving yourself a digital break, and plan to be OTG (Off The Grid). The only internet access you’ll likely have is your own cell phone (service is heavily dependent on carrier). Service is spotty at best so we recommend not counting on it.

My work: Therapist
My husband Dave and I are both psychotherapists. We have our practice in Sandy, Oregon, about an hour out of Portland, Oregon. We live at the base of Mt. Hood on a beautiful 20-acre property (We list our Treehouse and Guest Cottage on Airbnb). We love the outdoors and we LOVE to travel. I enjoy gardening, skiing, hiking, tennis and eating at fun restaurants. My husband shares those interests as well as doing projects on our property. He has built our home, our guest cottage and our 16' x 16' Treehouse (complete with electricity and water - he has a very playful streak.) Our children are grown and launched, and now we enjoy sharing the property with AirBnB friends. You can check out our Airbnb to get a more visual sense of us. Also you can look at our professional business side at website: River Ridge Counseling in Sandy Oregon. Additionally the Tree House has it's own webpage, simply google Mt. Hood Tree House.
