Cozy, comfy room with private bathroom next to the bedroom (not inside) in the apartment where I live. Fridge and a kettle in the room. No access to the kitchen or other areas in the flat. You will not share space with other guests. This is not a business. It is the original idea of airbnb: Staying at someone's home! Due to the coronavirus, I'm taking extra steps to clean and sanitise frequently touched surfaces during and between reservations.

The space
The comfort of a hotel, the warmth of a home and the price of a hostel. That is what I am offering to you. I am from Madrid and I am a language teacher. I teach Spanish and English. I live in a cosy, comfortable flat right in the centre of Granada where I have my own classroom and also a spare room for guests. I have been hosting students and travellers alike from all over the world since 2003 and on airbnb since 2013.

The room I have for you is spacious and bright. There is a comfy double bed with visco elastic-style memory foam mattress and pillows, a wardrobe, a dining table with two chairs and a fridge. You have tea and coffee making facilities in your room. I provide you with everything you need to prepare a nice cup of tea or coffee anytime. There are mugs, spoons, dishes, a kettle and of course free coffee & real British breakfast tea (PG Tips or Tetley) I also provide you with free orange juice, cream, yoghurt, croissants and cupcakes for your stay so that you can prepare yourself a little, free breakfast in the morning or have it anytime you want.

You will have your own private bathroom. It is not en-suite but it is next to your room and will be only for you.

There are plenty of books for you. There is literature in several languages and book exchange is available at no costs on leave one take one basis. And there are lots of guides on Spain, Andalucía and Granada. I will also provide you with a guide book of the Alhambra that you can take with you when you visit the monument. This guide is available in eight languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Portugues, Dutch, Italian, and Chinese.

And, of course, there is fast broadband WI-FI access 24 hours a day free of charge.

I will also provide you with my already so popular self-made Granada city map which includes priceless tips on tapas bars, flamenco venues, buses, sights and much more. A map made with all the knowledge from a local and all the love from someone who cares about his guests.

There is no curfew. You have your own keys and you can come and go as you please but, you must inform well in advance of your arrival time for the check-in as I will have to organise my schedule for the day around your arrival time.

And if you are concerned about privacy, don't worry; you don't need to go through any common areas to get to your room. It is separated from the rest of the flat. If you leave early or arrive late you won't disturb anyone and no one will disturb you. Remember also that there won't be any other guests.

Although the flat is in the centre the room faces a narrow street with little traffic and there is double glazing in all windows, which isolates from the noise but, on working days, motorcycles can be a bit annoying sometimes in the morning. Also, Spanish people are noisy and Andalusian people are even noisier and they love partying so don't get surprised if you hear someone singing out loud in the street in the wee hours at the weekends.

The room has a fan for the summer and heating in winter.

From my place you can walk to all the monuments, tapas bars and most emblematic places of Granada, including the Alhambra (30 minutes on foot) although it is worth noting that the Alhambra is perched on top of a hill and the slope is quite steep. In any case, there is a bus that goes up the hill to the entrance of the Alhambra every five minutes.

Where you’ll be

Granada, Andalusia, Spain

Right in the centre, in the old Jewish neighbourhood, although it was completely transformed 500 years ago by queen Isabel and king Fernando. It boasts beautiful palaces, churches and old houses. It is loved by locals, students and tourists alike as there are many great taps bars and excellent restaurants. Its narrow streets are incredibly quiet, with little or no traffic at all, yet it is close to everything. It is probably the best place to live in Granada.

I am a quiet, warm and gentle person and I am both a devoted host and a constant traveller. In Granada I teach Spanish and I live in a cosy, comfortable flat in the centre, where I have my own classroom and a spare room and a private bathroom for my guests. I have been teaching and hosting people from all over the world since 2003 (on airbnb since 2012). I like to provide my guests with as much information as possible about the city and help them make the most of their stay here while being respectful of their privacy. As a traveller, I have been to some 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North, Central and South America and I have lived in Peru, Ecuador and the United Kingdom. I guess I can say that my own experience as a traveller is my best ally when it comes to understanding what my guests might need as well as my experience as a host has helped me to be a better guest.

During your stay

I live in the flat. I like to talk and be friendly without invading the privacy of my guests. I have my job and other things to do as well and I cannot always devote as much time to my guests as I would like but I want them to know I'm there if they need me, and I will always give them as many tips as I can to make sure they make the most of their time in Granada.
