Situated in Auckland suburbs, our house has a modern bach* feel. The kitchen, living and dining room are one - creating a lovely open plan. There are 3 bedrooms (2 dbls & 1 single cot) & 1 new bathroom. With 3-tiered back garden and BBQ area.
The kitchen, living and dining room are one - creating a lovely open plan. With a brand new kitchen (and all the gadgets).
There are 3 bedrooms - 2 of which have a double bed, and one which acts as a baby nursery (with cot). However this can be used as another area to sleep, as an air-bed fits comfortably in this room.
The house features a lovely deck at the front of the house, equipped with a BBQ, table and chairs - to make evening BBQs an easy option.
A beautiful back garden that gets sun all day and plenty of fruit too, with (lemon, peach, fig, plum trees!).
With the addition of our little boy, we've now got all the things you need on a trip when you have an under 3, but aren't sure you can fit in the car (or on a plane!). Highchair, cot, toys and books (all stored in his room - as to keep the rest of the house adult friendly!)
Kiwi Slang explained
*Bach means holiday home
Guests have access to all areas of the house, there are no looked doors or cupboards. This includes access to the laundry room - downstairs with a tumble dryer and washing machine.
Guests do not need to provide linen or towels that is all provided on arrival (with plenty of spares for during your stay).
Interaction with Guests
We like to meet our guests when they arrive (if possible) this enables us to give them a quick guided tour, and then we leave them to enjoy their holiday.
We're always available on our mobiles if any problems occur.
The house is located at the end of a quiet cul de sac road, which is just a 10 minute walk from Blockhouse Bay village, where you'll find a few restaurants and a great coffee shop. There is also 2 Countdowns (supermarkets) within a five minute drive. We're also stones through away from a playground (perfect for the kids to let off some steam).
Blockhouse Bay is a quiet suburb in Auckland. The main village has a stripe of cafe and shops. I would highly recommend the coffee at any of the restaurants, or alternatively grab a smoothie for the kids at the ice cream store
Jump on the motorway and in twenty minutes you'll be in the heart of Auckland City. We're also on 20 minutes from Auckland airport, and 15 minutes from Mt Eden, and 15 minutes to One Tree Hill.
Or alternatively get the bus at the top of the road to get an Express Bus straight into Town. If you've brought your car you can park off the road in front of our garage entrance.
Other Things to Note
If you've brought (hired) a car - you can park on our driveway.
Not too many house rules. The main one is we ask you to leave the house, the way you found it, along with
- no smoking in the house.
- no parties
- no pets
Great place for a weekend away. Close enough to the city but in a quiet neighbourhood. Lynn & Ed were easy to communicate with and made our stay hassle free. Clean and roomy, comfortable stay for two couples.
Lynn & Ed were helpful hosts. They checked in on us just before the trip and just before check out. Their house was well located with a supermarket down the street and a nice view of the bay out of the side windows. The neighborhood is residential so it helped to have a car. There was public transportation (buses) nearby but we didn't use it.
Fantastic house in a great location! Really enjoyed our stay and found it easy to get city or western springs from.
The house has a great patio which gets all day sun and is perfect for having a BBQ and Beer on those hot summer days.
Sky sport was an added bonus!! :)
Thanks Lynn and Ed!!
We enjoyed staying in this cute older style house with hardwood floors and a great location for everything we wanted to do.
It is what you would expect as a family home with a young child. In that not everything was in pristine condition and the chest of draws etc were full of the families things.
But the place had no clutter, the rooms were generous sized and we were easily able to use the place. There was more than enough room for us to put our food in the fridge and even freezer room for our apple pies and ice cream.
Our rooms came with white duvet, duvet cover, sheets and towels all folded on the end of each of our beds and with more towels in the bathroom.
It's always nice to stay in a home than a hotel room as you can really relax and look after yourself the way you would at home.
The house has a terraced garden with fruit trees on the edges with a backdrop of trees (willow, and ferns) making it a little oasis in the city.
A path two houses away took us to a reserve surrounded by bush, with large expanses of grass and a playground.
We really enjoyed our stay here and we were tempted to sneak their backyard into our backpacks as it was so restful to look out on, and made hanging out washing a joy.
We had a great time in the home of Lynn and Ed. The house is modern but cosy and in a very calm neighborhood. It is equipped with all necessary stuff for a longer stay even with a family. Lynn and Ed left a comprehensive house manual for us and prepared everything for our stay very well. It was a pity we were not able to meet our hosts as they looked like a very nice family on all those pictures in the house.
We were met with an informal friendliness that was very refreshing. The accommodation was comfortable and our hosts were very helpful when we met some problems with our car rental.
Their drive is steep, but you can park on the road. 20 mins. from the airport and easy enough for the city.
Thanks, Lynn and Ed!
The reservation was canceled 16 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Ed's originally from England & I'm from Ireland. We've lived and travelled (alot), particularly Ed! But we've now finally settled (for a couple of years at least) in Auckland. We love to travel (especially around NZ), love to meet new people, and we both love playing sport.
