Located a short walk from restaurants, shops, Starbucks and exercise studios in West Menlo Park, this is the perfect home away-from-home. Close to Stanford and Sand Hill Road, this is an ideal choice for up to 4 people, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a moderately spacious kitchen and living room area. It is beautifully furnished with a mix of modern and 1930's style and is equipped with all kitchen gadgets/supplies, WiFi, Cable TV, a desktop computer, a landline phone, and an entertainment system. Guests will especially enjoy the secluded, landscaped and fenced yard with a BBQ and an outdoor living space - which can be most appreciated on a warm, Silicon Valley day. During your stay, you'll likely enjoy a walk/jog through Atherton, a bike ride to Woodside and/or shopping at the world-class Stanford Shopping Center (Tiffany, Nieman Marcus, Tory Burch, etc). You'll be ~5 minutes away (by car) from Stanford, Sand Hill Road, downtown Menlo Park, and the Menlo Park CalTrain Station.
Best local restaurant options, walking distance, are top-rated Flea Street Cafe and casual Lulu's (Mexican). In case you need wine, groceries or a good cup of coffee during your stay, there is also a convenient market located steps away. They even carry local Cakebread/Napa wines and most random necessities!
My home is very family friendly, and popular with young families from all over the world! If you have small children, I can provide a crib and high-chair at no extra cost (I just need to know in advance so I can set it up for you). The couch in the living room is a pull-out bed (queen sized), however I don't recommend more than 4 people staying in the house (at least for the majority of the stay), given that there is only 1 bathroom.
Please Note: 10 day minimum stay. For longer stays, optional cleaning is available for $80-100/cleaning upon request.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family/colleagues to all of the charm and conveniences that Menlo Park has to offer!
Guest have access to the full house and garden area (including the BBQ!). Guests do not have access to the garage or the little studio in the back.
Interaction with Guests
I like to meet my guests in person when they arrive (or after I get off work). I am very responsive in case of questions and very accommodating in case of special requests.
No smoking in the house. No pets unless otherwise agreed. There is street parking available right outside the house. I just ask that guests don't park in the driveway /block the entrance into the driveway, as that's where I park. (I stay in the studio apartment in the back of the house).
Bedding and towels are provided. I keep the house stocked with basic supplies such as a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, kitchen + bathroom soaps and laundry facilities and detergent. There is a coffee maker and plenty of fresh coffee so you don't have to run to the store. Feel free to use the spices and basic condiments in the house (ketchup, mustard, jams, sugar, salt and pepper etc). This makes it easiest for my guests to relax and enjoy themselves while they're in Menlo Park!
This was our second month-long stay at this lovely spot. It's the only time we have ever paid a return visit, and for good reason: for us, there could not be an easier, more pleasant, and better located spot than this Menlo Park jewel. There is so much to do in such close proximity! Eateries (casual and world-class) a walk away; Stanford and all the activities there; fun Palo Alto with a great mall as well as many other shops and restaurants; gorgeous parks and Open Space Preserves for hiking; etc., etc. But perhaps the biggest draw of this cozy charming place is its delightful and accommodating host. Guests can think of nothing that Amanda hasn't provided, it seems; she goes way out of her way to ensure that a great stay is had by everyone. Thanks to her thoughtfulness, our stay again exceeded our expectations.
Can't wait to come back!
This was our second stay with Amanda, and though we didn't think it was possible our stay was even more enjoyable than last year. Her home is so beautiful - so charming and comfortable and with every required amenity. The backyard is a wonderful little oasis in which to unwind. And Amanda herself is just a delightful person. So friendly and helpful and ready to answer any questions about the house or the neighbourhood. The Bay Area is such a special place for us, and the trip was made even more special by having a host as great as Amanda.
My husband and I were a little anxious about dedicating ourselves to staying in one place--sight unseen--for six weeks, since we had never felt comfortable enough in a rental for such an extended stay. Our concerns were immediately allayed when we met Amanda and she showed us her lovely home; six weeks spent there ended up being not nearly enough! The location, privacy, and charm of the place were ideal for us. We enjoyed daily walks through the neighborhood. The next-door convenience store was great--coffee flowed, and newspapers were abundant. Parking out front on the street was a breeze. Proximity to parks, preserves, Stanford, Caltrain (to go to SF), and interstates couldn't have been better. The beds were very cozy. The backyard sitting area was a wonderful oasis. The among of storage was incredible. Wifi, computer, cable TV, great washer and dryer, lots of hangers, extremely well-stocked kitchen--all were hugely appreciated. But best of all was having Amanda as our host! Truly, no one could have been more welcoming and accommodating and all-round delightful than she. Her communication was stellar throughout, and we greatly appreciated all she did to make our experience as fabulous as it was. We were sad to leave her place and even sadder to say goodbye to her! Amanda's house is great, she is a gem, and we can't wait to go back.
Our family of four stayed at Amanda's place for 13 nights. Amanda is a wonderful hostess! Her house is clean and comfortable, and very conveniently located. The appliances were all in great condition, and the wifi worked well. Unlike many vacation rentals we've stayed at, Amanda stocked her house with all the sundries that we needed throughout our stay, from laundry detergent to extra rolls of toilet paper. Amanda also went above and beyond in stocking the refrigerator with breakfast supplies so that, after a late night arrival, we were able to enjoy a relaxed breakfast without needing to run out to the grocery store first thing the next morning. We'd recommend this place highly, and would definitely stay again.
Regarding the convenient location:
- Easy walking distance to: a corner market (next door), at least a couple of cafes, and at least a handful of restaurants (my favorite is "Flea Street Cafe"). Also, a place with fun drop-in exercise classes (Studio Rincon), and a fun playground (at Las Lomitas Elementary School).
- Just under a mile to another fun playground and tennis courts (on Sharon Rd).
- 2 miles to downtown Menlo Park.
- Easy access to 280.
Stayed there with my family (wife + 2 kids).
The house is VERY comfortable, and it's really close to everything, from the downtown Menlo Park area and the 280 / 101.
The house is really close to a local store, so getting groceries and stuff you need (especially with kids) is really easy and you don't even need to get into a car.
Everything inside the house is in great working order, from the machine + drier to kitchen appliance.
Amanda is absolutely great, she kept in touch though our stay there, always helpful, asking what she can do to make our stay better.
Even before we arrived, she made sure we have everything we need for the kids.
Staying there was great, we really felt at home away from home, the kids really loved it and it was so much better than staying at a hotel with kids.
Great little house in a great location. We spent 5 weeks in Amanda's yellow cottage during a house hunt and it was perfect for us and our 2.5 year old son. All amenities one needs, good little kitchen to cook and eat in, as well as a nice tv room.
A little surprise is the garden and BBQ out back, whilst the country store (literally next door) can provide u with any grocery items to a lunch roll and even a solid beer and wine selection (incl French pink champagne),
We are a Family from Germany and it was our first trip to California.
Amanda's house is located perfectly for us cause it takes just a short time to Stanford where our son lives. You also don't need much time to San Francisco and other beautiful places.
Menlo Park is a nice area and Amanda's hous is really comfortable. It's clean, tidy and nicely done up. There was everything in the house we needed. We enjoyed to cook in the cosy kitchen or have a Barbecue in the charming little garden. Amanda is a wonderful, cheerful person and we felt at home immediately.

I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in London for 4 years, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When I'm not hard at work, (or traveling), I'm usually found engaging in outdoor adventures, such as snow skiing, water skiing, road biking, or spending quality time with friends.
I've been a landlord for 8 years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats Starwood or Hilton Hotels ;)
Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, in addition to renting my home in Menlo Park, I'm also managing my good friend Victoria's and her neighbor's guest houses in San Jose and my friend Debbie's house in Tahoe. We all used to work for the same company and have found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Bay Area or Tahoe. All five properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with friendly hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
