Located a short walk from restaurants, shops, Starbucks and exercise studios in West Menlo Park, this is the perfect home away-from-home. Close to Stanford and Sand Hill Road, this is an ideal choice for up to 4 people, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a moderately spacious kitchen and living room area. It is beautifully furnished with a mix of modern and 1930's style and is equipped with all kitchen gadgets/supplies, WiFi, Cable TV, a desktop computer, a landline phone, and an entertainment system. Guests will especially enjoy the secluded, landscaped and fenced yard with a BBQ and an outdoor living space - which can be most appreciated on a warm, Silicon Valley day. During your stay, you'll likely enjoy a walk/jog through Atherton, a bike ride to Woodside and/or shopping at the world-class Stanford Shopping Center (Tiffany, Nieman Marcus, Tory Burch, etc). You'll be ~5 minutes away (by car) from Stanford, Sand Hill Road, downtown Menlo Park, and the Menlo Park CalTrain Station.
Best local restaurant options, walking distance, are top-rated Flea Street Cafe and casual Lulu's (Mexican). In case you need wine, groceries or a good cup of coffee during your stay, there is also a convenient market located steps away. They even carry local Cakebread/Napa wines and most random necessities!
My home is very family friendly, and popular with young families from all over the world! If you have small children, I can provide a crib and high-chair at no extra cost (I just need to know in advance so I can set it up for you). The couch in the living room is a pull-out bed (queen sized), however I don't recommend more than 4 people staying in the house (at least for the majority of the stay), given that there is only 1 bathroom.
Please Note: 10 day minimum stay. For longer stays, optional cleaning is available for $80-100/cleaning upon request.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family/colleagues to all of the charm and conveniences that Menlo Park has to offer!
Guest have access to the full house and garden area (including the BBQ!). Guests do not have access to the garage or the little studio in the back.
I like to meet my guests in person when they arrive (or after I get off work). I am very responsive in case of questions and very accommodating in case of special requests.

My husband and I were a little anxious about dedicating ourselves to staying in one place--sight unseen--for six weeks, since we had never felt comfortable enough in a rental for such an extended stay. Our concerns were immediately allayed when we met Amanda and she showed us her lovely home; six weeks spent there ended up being not nearly enough! The location, privacy, and charm of the place were ideal for us. We enjoyed daily walks through the neighborhood. The next-door convenience store was great--coffee flowed, and newspapers were abundant. Parking out front on the street was a breeze. Proximity to parks, preserves, Stanford, Caltrain (to go to SF), and interstates couldn't have been better. The beds were very cozy. The backyard sitting area was a wonderful oasis. The among of storage was incredible. Wifi, computer, cable TV, great washer and dryer, lots of hangers, extremely well-stocked kitchen--all were hugely appreciated. But best of all was having Amanda as our host! Truly, no one could have been more welcoming and accommodating and all-round delightful than she. Her communication was stellar throughout, and we greatly appreciated all she did to make our experience as fabulous as it was. We were sad to leave her place and even sadder to say goodbye to her! Amanda's house is great, she is a gem, and we can't wait to go back.
Our family of four stayed at Amanda's place for 13 nights. Amanda is a wonderful hostess! Her house is clean and comfortable, and very conveniently located. The appliances were all in great condition, and the wifi worked well. Unlike many vacation rentals we've stayed at, Amanda stocked her house with all the sundries that we needed throughout our stay, from laundry detergent to extra rolls of toilet paper. Amanda also went above and beyond in stocking the refrigerator with breakfast supplies so that, after a late night arrival, we were able to enjoy a relaxed breakfast without needing to run out to the grocery store first thing the next morning. We'd recommend this place highly, and would definitely stay again.
Regarding the convenient location:
- Easy walking distance to: a corner market (next door), at least a couple of cafes, and at least a handful of restaurants (my favorite is "Flea Street Cafe"). Also, a place with fun drop-in exercise classes (Studio Rincon), and a fun playground (at Las Lomitas Elementary School).
- Just under a mile to another fun playground and tennis courts (on Sharon Rd).
- 2 miles to downtown Menlo Park.
- Easy access to 280.
Stayed there with my family (wife + 2 kids).
The house is VERY comfortable, and it's really close to everything, from the downtown Menlo Park area and the 280 / 101.
The house is really close to a local store, so getting groceries and stuff you need (especially with kids) is really easy and you don't even need to get into a car.
Everything inside the house is in great working order, from the machine + drier to kitchen appliance.
Amanda is absolutely great, she kept in touch though our stay there, always helpful, asking what she can do to make our stay better.
Even before we arrived, she made sure we have everything we need for the kids.
Staying there was great, we really felt at home away from home, the kids really loved it and it was so much better than staying at a hotel with kids.
Great little house in a great location. We spent 5 weeks in Amanda's yellow cottage during a house hunt and it was perfect for us and our 2.5 year old son. All amenities one needs, good little kitchen to cook and eat in, as well (email hidden) room.
A little surprise is the garden and BBQ out back, whilst the country store (literally next door) can provide u with any grocery items to a lunch roll and even a solid beer and wine selection (incl French pink champagne),
We are a Family from Germany and it was our first trip to California.
Amanda's house is located perfectly for us cause it takes just a short time to Stanford where our son lives. You also don't need much time to San Francisco and other beautiful places.
Menlo Park is a nice area and Amanda's hous is really comfortable. It's clean, tidy and nicely done up. There was everything in the house we needed. We enjoyed to cook in the cosy kitchen or have a Barbecue in the charming little garden. Amanda is a wonderful, cheerful person and we felt at home immediately.
This houses so perfect, I miss it already. It's fully equipped, very clean and has plenty of space to unpack. Nothing is broken, the outdoor sitting area is a pleasure and the location is extremely convenient. There is some street noise and a yappy dog next door but mostly during the daytime. Amanda couldn't do enough for us. What a hostess! There is nothing she wouldn't do to make our stay more comfortable and she has a lovely personality as well. I would stay here again in a NY minute!
Amanda's home was absolutely charming and it was a perfect home base for us to use while my husband was having treatment at Stanford Hospital. We enjoy cooking for ourselves instead of eating out and her kitchen was well stocked and had nice appliances as well as a BBQ in the backyard. Even though the house is on a very busy street, the back yard provided a very pleasant oasis. She did a wonderful job of making our stay a pleasant one.
We travel to the Menlo Park area every year with our two small children to visit family, and this year was by far our best trip ever, thanks to Amanda and her beautiful little house. We stayed for just over two weeks and the house had everything we needed.
The highlights of the house for us were the beautiful backyard (which the kids loved) and the proximity of the house to great local restaurants and all the other areas we frequent (Stanford Shopping, Downtown Menlo Park).
The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived, and Amanda had stocked the fridge with basic items for us prior to our arrival. There is a great little store right next door (really friendly owner), and even though the house is on the Alameda (a somewhat busy road) there was no noise at all from the street. Also, the beds were really comfortable and there was loads of storage/closet space in both bedrooms, which made it really easy to unpack and 'set up house' during our stay.
It's a five minute walk to the nearest Starbucks, and a really pleasant 20 minute walk to Safeway/CVS/etc. Lulu's Mexican is only a five minute walk and it became one of our favorite places to eat.
West Menlo Park is such a lovely neighbourhood - very quiet and leafy and really close to Stanford and beautiful Woodside.
We were traveling with an infant and purchased an Ikea full-sized crib + a highchair to use during our stay (it was actually cheaper than renting the same equipment). Amanda was so helpful - she even let us have the items delivered before our arrival so we could set them up as soon as we arrived, and I believe she is keeping the crib and highchair on the premises so that future guests with young kids will be able to make use of these items (the crib converts to a junior bed for older children).
Amanda was as lovely in person as she was via email, and she was always really responsive to any questions we had. I just loved this house so much, and we will most definitely stay at this property next time we visit California!
Amanda's home is cozy and lovely. She was extremely accommodating and very thoughtful with regard to making our stay as comfortable as possible. It was so nice to come home to such a wonderful place and unwind after long, tiring days at school. Plenty of room. Beautiful atmosphere with great amenities. Great location with restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Very house, close to charming downtown Menlo Park, Stanford and the 280 freeway. Very convenient for rad biking in the Portola Valley. There is a convenience store at the corner that has lots of high quality stuff.
