About this listing
Rumah Bali, tranquil and cozy private villa with nature surrounding rice paddy, jungle and a beautiful sunset in the afternoon will make your stay more comfortable. Located in penestanan a small farming village about 15 minute from ubud center.
Rumah Bali is a lovely and comfortable two story Balinese house in Penestanan located in the rice field area on the outskirts of Ubud just beyond Campuan. This open and airy private house offers two bedrooms with king beds, kitchen, private swimming pool and bathroom with h/c water.

Your host, Wayan Are, is studying the hospitality industry at the local community college and has been serving guests who stay at the family’s property since he was a little boy. Now a married father of three children, Wayan and his wife, Komang, will make your stay magical and memorable.
Your hosts and property owners are a Balinese family that has lived and farmed in this community for generations, and have been welcoming guests for several decades. In the United States, the property is represented by Ian and Darrin, two Seattle residents who met the family while living in Bali in 1998 and have visited regularly since. We love this little village and are proud to be able to assist others in its discovery.
Rumah Bali is the ideal “home-base” in Bali, near the cultural center of Ubud and its many restaurants, temples, dance events and traditional folk art and fine art galleries. Arrange transport with your host to visit some of the closer sights like Elephant Cave, or take a day trip to the volcanic Mount Agung, via the coffee and fruit plantations. Wayan can arrange for you to take a fishing or snorkeling/scuba trip at Padangbai, or any other local beach. Visit the holiest of Balinese temples, the "mother temple' at Kintamani. Staying close to home, you can wander the paths around the villa through the lush tropical rain forests, rushing rivers and canals, and some of the most stunning views of the fields and steep terraces of rice that have sustained this island and its people for hundreds of years. Wandering into town you will encounter some of the nicest cafes, bakeries, restaurants and boutiques on the road to Ubud. Too hot to walk? Villagers, and Wayan if he's not too busy, provide taxi service from the bottom of the stairs leading down to the main road into town and places beyond. All tourist services can be arranged with the host who will magically appear if you need him (we're not kidding) for an additional, but reasonable, fee. Wayan can provide transfers to and from Nagurah Rai airport in Denpasar.
Penestanan is the "young artists' village", a traditional small farming community about 15 minute walk from the center of Ubud. In this area you can see and experience what many call "the real Bali," where traditional arts and practices are still very much a part of daily life and will transport you to another time and place. You can enjoy views of the rice fields from the second floor balcony and also you can watch a beautiful evening sunsets surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature . You will quickly become entranced with the rhythm of village life.
Rumah Bali is the ideal setting for a relaxing holiday. Accessible only by a foot path and about 200 meter from the main road, you are assured privacy and security. Access to the villa is through a network of footpaths that separate individual rice fields connecting you to Penestanan on one side and the main road on the other.
This villa features include a newly remodeled kitchen with gas range and refrigerator, a comfortable living area with satellite TV with home theater audio for evening relaxation. Internet is included through the in-home wi-fi network. The house is conveniently located near--but not too close--to a full supermarket, several local cafes, warungs, spas and the yoga studio.

The perfect place to discover Ubub...and experience living amongst rice paddies. Amazing location. House very comfortable and the host Wayan Are made our stay one of the best experiences we had in Bali. He even invited us into his family home to help celebrate an important religious ceremony in his family temple. The breakfast at Yellow Flower cafe (email hidden) much so we dined there several occasions!
Will definitely come back to Rumah Bali to experience everything good that Bali has to offer...especially its people!
The villa was such a delight to stay in, a short quiet walk from the main road. Fantastic location and clean. Wayan was a very accommodating host, when we had to change our plans Wayan was very generous and nice. Many thanks :) would love to stay again when next in Ubud.
Wayan was a perfect host. He was very nice to us. His house is really well located - from walk distance of Ubud, supermarket, restaurant, massage center, ... and in a very quiet place among ricefields. We have spent wonderful days here with our kids ! Thank you for all Wayan !
Great place to stay. Quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to bintang supermarket and lots of restaurants and shops. The villa is super cute. Wayan also included breakfast at the nearby yellow flower cafe which was beautiful and so lovely to eat at!
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The location in Penstanan can't be beat: close to supermarket, local restaurants (aka warungs), and a yoga studio; no traffic noises, houses are connected by a path system with steps (thereby prohibiting motor bikes) circumscribing the rice patties creating a strong neighborhood feeling. Wayan and his mother Made were gracious and helpful, they invited us to their temple , don't miss it. Great view from the upstairs full floor bedroom, but we felt closed in on ground floor. Somewhat spartan interior. No other problems! More like 3.5 stars
Thanks to Wayan and his family: beautiful authentic people, incredible environment!
You will feel to stay safe and comfortable in a friends house for a small cost.
The experience in the rice fields in close contact to nature, sounds of nature and perfect silence. Only 6 minutes walk form the civilization including taxis (3$ from downtown Ubud), parking and great supermarket with everything you need.
The areal is not immersed in with anything noisy, only trails where you walk toward excellent restaurants ( Wayan Cafe restaurant (phone number hidden) - LOL- not the same Wayan), yoga center ((website hidden)) , art galleries, laundry, service etc
The house was build by local people and is perfectly furnished, supplied with pure drinking water and secured doors. Two double beds, Satellite TV and wifi internet.
All described equipments and fully efficient. Linen, soaps, etc You could use the kitchen to cook small meals and eat in the large dining-living room.
Fans are a better choice to keep you breathing natural air and delicate odors of this natural environment. We were at Wayan’s home during raining season (january). After the rain, the sun is drying everything around. The nights were pretty humid but just store your clothes in your closed luggage and you won’t be worried.
Very funny animal sounds could be heard during the night: again noting scaring just the nature is close and you aren't at Hilton’s. If any insects in the house, they will not be a problem: a few ants are ok but NO DDT and dangerous insect killers around. Again, insects are never invading never.
Wayan is available anytime free to help or answer your questions. The family owns a good car that could ride you around.
We will be back… keep the place as nice as it was. . .
