  • My stay at Melissa and Frank's residence was nothing but positive. Frank was around every morning and always asked how my stay is going. I can tell he cares a lot about making sure I had everything I needed. The beach 89B / Kalama Beach is just a 10 min walk, however each time I went, I decided to drive. Parking was easy. Frank has two cute kids, and even though they are young, they never caused any inconvenience during my stay. In fact i barely noticed they were there. usually they're just chilling in the living room watching tv or roaming around with Frank in the garage. There are three rooms down stairs. During my stay, the other two were taken. I got to meet a few other airbnb'ers. My particular room didnt have curtains for complete privacy but that didnt bother me. Rarely was there someone in the backyard or was i concerned that other guest would peep in. The bathroom shower is nicely styled. There is one large window with a transparent current. At first I was kind of thrown off as i thought there wasnt privacy but actually the window is set high and the neighboring house doesnt have any way of accidentally seeing anything in the bathroom. after the first time i didnt really care anymore. The entire house is nicely remodeled and has a great open floor plan. I would recommend this to friends and family.

  • Frank and Melissa were absolutely wonderful. They are what one might hope for in a host. Their place was lovely, I really can't say too many complementary things about the experience. Frank is an outstanding surfing teacher, recommend this learning highly. Place is 3.5 blocks from an amazing beach. Town is perfectly small with everything needed easily accessible. Kailua/Frank and Melissa are a gem. Do not tell anyone. :)

  • I loved my time in Kailua with Melissa and Frank. They were great hosts and always had great recommendations on where to go on the island or for dinner in town. The room was lovely, clean and very nice. It was very quiet and just a lovely place to unwind and relax. I took 2 surf lessons and it was so much fun, I managed to stand up several times :-). The best part about the house is the warm outdoor shower after a long day at the beach. I stayed for 7 days and it was the perfect base for day trips and exploring. I would highly recommend Melissa and Frank's home - I enjoyed every moment!

  • The stay with Franky and Melissa was great! Spacious room, comfort public area, and not far from beach. The bathroom was somehow relatively small but ok for daily use. Their baby has very pretty angel-look face! Lovely. Front door can park our rented car. F&M also showed us where to visit in the North Shore. But the beach in Kailua and Lanikai was my favorite and they are just blocks away from F&M's place! I'd recommend stay with them!

  • Staying at Melissa and Frank has been an amazing experience. They are 2 great people, always smiling and helpful at any moment. Our room was nice and big. The living room/kitchen area is spacious and with a lot of light, facing the garden. The house is at 300mt from the beautiful Kailua beach. Furthermore, Frank is also a great surfer instructor. Thank you Melissa and Frank for hosting us. Claudia & Alex.

  • I enjoyed my stay immensely with Frank and Melissa. The kitchen was spotless and well-stocked with cooking utensils for easy meals. Shelves in the pantry, fridge, and bathroom were clearly marked for guests' use. The backyard has flowering plants and a covered table to eat at, and I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere! Frank offered to teach surfing, but I opted to borrow a boogie board and had fun at the beach. Frank was patient when showing maps with the location of the grocery store and how to load the Scout app on my phone for easy navigation. When my rental car malfunctioned Frank tried to trouble shoot with me and fix the problem, which was very kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying with Frank and Melissa!

  • I had a really great time in Kailua and enjoyed the time in this room. The house is 5 to 10 mins walking distance from the beach. Supermarket and other stores are a bit off, but it's a very quiet area. The beach had always some waves is probably better for surfing and paddeling than swimming (swimming beach is another 10 mins waking) Melissa and Frank are friendly and helpful hosts. Big recommendation from me.

  • It was a real treat staying in Kailua. It's such a different community out there with a completely different beach/town feel. Melissa and Frank were gracious and attentive hosts. The Orient room we stayed in was spacious and clean. There are other rooms that are being rented at the same time, but the house was never too loud or busy. And neat to connect with other travelers coming through. If you're looking for an extended stay, this place seems like they accommodate that very easily with shelves for your food. The home is in a neighborhood, and very central to the beach and downtown. Frank was around for us to ask questions and give suggestions about the activities and restaurants in the area. If you're there on a Thursday, go to the farmers market in the evening for food, music and produce shopping for everything local! Would definitely recommend this private room rental. Thanks, Helena and Jonathan

  • I stayed for 3 days on my first visit to Hawaii. I then came back a couple weeks later and stayed again. It was so much fun to meet Frank and Melissa. They were wonderful hosts and fun to get to know. The accommodations were great! The room was clean and comfortable. There were shelves in the kitchen and bathroom to put your things. I will stay there again the next time I come to Hawaii!
