Melissa and Bill were great. Bill was there to welcome us as we arrived and took the time to show us around. The loft is beautiful, clean and unique. Very close to town and surrounded by lovely landscapes. They left snacks and fruit for us in the fridge. The fresh flowers outside and in the kitchen were a great touch. I really enjoyed the stay and would do it again. Thanks again for hosting us!
I had stayed at this lovely loft last year with my fiance, John, but this year decided to bring my mom. We spent the weekend in Austin for UT Graduation, and a belated mother's day retreat. Though it rained the entire weekend (and thus thwarted our hiking plans), we found the loft a nice, cool, dry refuge. One would think, with the severe thunderstorms, that mosquitos and other critters would have made their way into the loft. But we didn't see any! (And should you sit out on the porch in lighter rain, Bill and Melissa have helpfully provided bug repellant spray.) I regret that, during this trip, my Mom and I weren't outside much to enjoy conversation with Bill. But he was there to warmly greet us upon arrival. When we arrived, Bill had been cleaning the deck between bouts of rain. Bill is consistently attentive to the cleanliness of the loft and its deck. Not only is the place very clean and organized, it boasts several thoughtful touches. There were goodies from Central Market in the fridge (croissants, cheese, fruit, energy bars, milk, creamer, coffee, tea) for our breakfasts and snacking. There were fresh flowers in the kitchen, and a fresh print of the Austin Chronicle on the desk. We were so grateful to call this place home for a couple days. It provided us the relaxation we needed amidst the storms and graduation festivities. Thank you Bill, and Melissa, for another pleasant stay.
We arrived in Austin much earlier than anticipated but one phone call to the Hornungs and we were graciously accepted. Melissa even warned us about the weather. Sure enough, when we arrived at the Loft it was raining, hard. Melissa begged off due to the weather, but everything was ready for us when we arrived. Unfortunately our busy schedule didn't allow for us to meet personally. I'm sure it would have been a pleasure.
We had a wonderful stay at Melissa and Bill's Loft! The location tucked away near the greenbelt was quiet and lovely, just 5-10 minutes from town and a great jump off point for our hill country drives to the west. The loft is just as it looks in the pictures, and is wonderfully stocked and decorated with all sorts of extra touches. Bill and Melissa are lovely folks, and their pet turkeys and peacocks are too sweet! Bill has lots of information to share on the local history and hiking as well, and we had a terrific time hiking the Barton Creek trail just nearby. In short, it's a terrific place to stay and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
What a great place to stay in Austin! We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the tree tops drinking our morning coffee. Coffee, water, cream, fruit and a coffeecake were all in the refrigerator for us. Fresh flowers too. Nice bed, lots of hot water, plush towels and pleasant decor. We met Bill briefly when we arrived and got a few helpful tips from him, but then were so busy we did not see him again. We knew they were right next door if we needed anything, but things were perfect as they were. Would love to stay here again.
