I can't say enough about the Loft on Cupid's Bluff. It is truly an oasis near the city - clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and on stunning grounds. The property is a short drive from downtown (10-15 mins) and even closer to many cute coffeeshops/restaurants. You can hike from nearby. If you head over to bill and Melissa's you can meet their beautiful dog and other animals. As others have mentioned, Bill and Melissa are kind and generous, going the extra mile to stock the fridge with goodies, pick up the latest copy of the Austin chronicle or make time to chat. They are also conscious of privacy and will give you space if that's what you'd prefer. Of note, the wifi is spotty and the bed is a full rather than a queen. These things were absolutely not an issue for us - we would stay at Melissa and Bill's again in a heartbeat! I would very much recommend this property for anyone staying in Austin.
We have loved our stay in the loft and are hoping we'll be able to do it again next year. Working on the road can be exhausting and depleting but we loved being able to come "home" each day.
Bill and Melissa are most generous hosts. The photos are accurate and the apartment is perfectly appointed with everything you might want: plentiful towels and hot water, extra set of sheets, four quality pillows of different firmness, an elegant fruit basket, basics in the pantry and refrigerator, vase of flowers, ability to heat or cool the apartment at will. When we decided to make dinner for business associates, they loaned us extra seats and a larger pot (as well as providing some of the most delicious balsamic vinegar I've ever used!). These are the kinds of people who give AirBnB a good name.
The location is convenient since we needed a car anyway (barely 10 minutes to any part of town we aimed for) and parking is easy. I enjoyed having access to Barton Springs trail for running and hiking.
I don't think I can rate this stay or the hosts highly enough!
my wife and I had a wonderful weekend staying at Bill and Melissa's guest house apartment. our hosts were very thoughtful in anticipating the needs of their guests. the apartment was immaculately clean. the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful.
Bill and Melissa were very kind and welcoming. we will definitely consider staying again when we return to Austin.
This loft is one of the most amazing places to stay in. It looks just like it does in the pictures, it is quiet, it is clean, it is very comfortable, and Melissa and Bill are very welcoming. When we arrived Bill was cleaning up the porch for us (even though it ended up too cold to use it) and was very accommodating. Everything in the loft was very clean, new and made me feel like I was staying at home (down to the muffins in the fridge and snacks in the pantry). Downtown Austin is about 10 minutes away, the airport is about 15 minutes away, and we didn't find anything more that 25 minutes away (other than San Antonio). I would not hesitate to stay here again, especially for SXSW or F1, to escape the "weird" and relax a little bit.
In short, stay here if you can, comfortable, relaxing and like staying in a tree house apartment.
This loft was a great Austin getaway! It was a little tricky finding the driveway to the loft from the street (especially at night), but not too bad. Everything was clean, comfortable, and just the right size for 2 people. I loved the functionality of the space, and the location was perfect for our trip - everywhere we wanted to go was at most a 15 min drive, and the loft felt very secluded and quiet even though it was so close to the highway. The water got hot very quickly for cooking and the shower, and they provided towels and bathroom essentials. They also stocked the fridge with some snacks, bottled water, and coffee supplies which was greatly appreciated! This was a great Airbnb find, and I would definitely stay here again!
Bill welcomed us immediately. My wife and I couldn't have asked for a better experience especially with it being her first time to Austin. The loft was super cozy and Bill and Melissa's company when we had some free time was very enjoyable.
Bill provided detailed directions to the Loft and was nearby to offer assistance when we drove in. He and Melissa had stocked the refrigerator and pantry with an assortment of breakfast and snack foods, and the bathroom offered an abundance of fluffy towels and nice soaps. There was even a spare toothbrush! I had brought along a book to read, but Bill and Melissa's collection of reading material ran the gamut, so I had more fun browsing through their books and never even opened my own. Comfortable bed, lovely dinnerware, and a raised deck for our morning coffee -- We could have stayed forever. This was our first Airbnb experience and, not only are we sold on the service, we are also looking forward to planning another stay at Bill and Melissa's Loft on Cupid's Bluff.
We have both traveled widely throughout this world, and have generally found the places we have visited to be wonderous and beautiful. We hope that all others who travel will benefit from the wonder and beauty they will also encounter in their travels.
