  • I'm about to shoot myself in the foot, but it's the right thing to do. This place is magical, and Bill and Melissa are among the kindest, most interesting people I've ever met. I wish I could say otherwise, so their place would be more likely to be available next time I'm headed to Austin, but there you have it. The apartment is very comfortable, open and bright, surrounded by singing birds and swaying trees. A big terrace is perfect for taking some sun or star-gazing. The property is like a lovingly tended botanical garden. Bill and Melissa treat you like a lifelong friend who's finally come to visit—while respecting your privacy as well. And lastly, although their property is in a lovely pocket of nature, they're within a mile of several major freeways, so getting into town or the airport is a breeze. I will never go to Austin without first checking to see if this place is available. My wife and I were very sorry to leave.

  • First off, the property is beautiful. Tall shady trees are everywhere and nestled in is the loft. The loft is pristine. The fridge was stocked with bottles of water and some snacks, it was such a thoughtful touch! Everything was extremely clean and kept up; the loft felt brand new! In addition to cleanliness, the loft was warm and welcoming, it felt like home. The bed is on the small side, but it worked out fine. While we didn't meet Melissa, Bill was great. He was kind and helpful when we asked him about places to hike, and we couldn't have been happier with his advice. Overall, I would without a doubt recommend this little gem, and personally I cannot wait to return.

Oh and the jacuzzi bath tub was amazing! (Especially after a hike!).

  • Bill & Melissa are the absolute best! They really thought of everything and were so sweet with their hospitality. Our only qualm was that we were so busy with SXSW and didn't get to spend any time with them past the first day. The loft is so nice, modern, quiet, and clean. I would definitely stay there again if I was coming back to Austin. Thank you guys!

  • Bill and Melissa are the kindest hosts I have met on AirBnb. And their loft is one of my favorite. Have stayed here a few times now. Exceptionally clean, convenient, private and cozy. Perfect. Highly recommended.

  • This loft was an absolute little miniature Eden getaway in the midst of Austin. Everything was so clean and well kept, it felt like staying over at a friend's house! We did not get a chance to meet Melissa, but Bill was such a kind and generous host. We even spent a bit of time exploring the gorgeous property and Bill had wonderful stories and information for us. There were waters and snacks in the fridge and some kind of absolutely scrumptious breakfast cake, which, I'm almost ashamed to say, we ate in its entirety. I could not have asked for a better first experience using airbnb! I know I'll certainly try to book the Loft on Cupid's Bluff next time I visit Austin.

  • This is wonderful little loft located in a very quiet neighborhood. We love staying at the Cupid's Bluff whenever we stay in Austin. We are cyclists so when we stay here we head out to bike in Dripping Springs and Blanco. Both are very close. We highly recommend this place.

  • I really enjoyed this private loft on Bill and Melissa's property. I met Bill immediately on my arrival. He was very humorous and personable. Prior to my arrival, I received a perfectly detailed and humorous email with directions to the property. The loft is beautiful and private. I will definitely stay here again. Bill and Melissa were perfect hosts, allowing as much privacy or interaction as the guests desire.

  • We had a lovely stay at the Loft. The accommodations were beautiful, and we loved being in the woods even though we were close to great Austin locations. Bill is a fine host and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with him.

  • The Loft is located in a great part of Austin; near 290 and MoPac. Surrounded by trees, this one bedroom apartment makes a great escape from the city!
Bill and Melissa are very gracious hosts! Upon arrival, the heat in the Loft was already on (believe it or not, it does get cold in Texas) and there was fruit and other snacks in the fridge. Bill had even offered to bring up a small TV for us, but we declined. The view from the deck was all we needed.
The Loft is well kept and the landscaping around it are immaculate!
My wife and I highly recommend the Loft!

    Kudos to the Hornungs!

  • We really enjoyed this peaceful, clean, nicely furnished and charmful nest on top of oaks & pines. We went there for a relaxing getaway and were delighted to discover this original place which feel quite far from downtown but actually is at only 10-15 min drive..
We appreciated as well meeting Bill & Melissa who were very friendly and available when needed
We definitely could have spent more time out there and would come back with great pleasure!
