This is the downstairs in-law unit of my mom's house. She is a lovely artist and Southern belle that enjoys a quiet life with her small dog Frida. We are reasonable, considerate folks and expect our guests to be the same. We expect the property and its contents to be respected, kept tidy and cared for. We are happy to resolve any issue or address any special needs. Good communication is the key.
Parking for guests is in front of the property on the street. The driveway must be kept clear for the owner as she is elderly and has difficulty traversing the steep driveway.
Guests are welcome to entertain in the unit but please clear any large or especially loud party activity with the owner in advance.
My stay at Jamie's Orinda home could not have been better. The apartment itself is lovely - clean throughout, comfortable bed, kitchen with everything I needed, ample storage, and a fabulous view. The hosts were so friendly and helpful - they invited me up when I had people over, they took care of my cats when I was away. I had never used AirB&B before coming out to the Bay Area, and I was a little nervous about using it to find a long-term apartment. (After an initial stay of about 5 weeks, I stuck around for a total of about 5 months.) I had no reason to worry. Everything came together perfectly.
This apartment was an ideal location for my stay, which started out as about five weeks with the possibility of staying longer (up to a year or so). The host is an absolute pleasure (friendly, accommodating, and we have had wonderful conversations), and the space is just the right size for an extended stay away from home. Having a full kitchen is so convenient, and the (HUGE) porch is a wonderful place to eat or read or just sit and watch the sunset at the end of the day. The location is great: picturesque, quiet, and yet close to most shopping and dining needs. Orinda Village (Safeway, Rite-Aid, restaurants including sushi, pizza, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, and Burmese) is just 1 mile away; the Orinda Theatre Square area (CVS, restaurants including Italian, Mexican, pizza, Hawaiian, Middle Eastern, burger joints, and a delicious ice cream place) is just 2 miles away. It's also just 2 miles from the Orinda BART station, which makes getting into Oakland or SF a snap. Overall, a great place to stay - in fact, I like it so much I have extended my stay.
Jaime and her mother were lovely hosts! Both kind and accomodating. Everything in the apartment was just as expected. The room was large, private and clean, and the surroundings were very pleasant, close to nature and quiet. The place was also a convenient 30min drive from SF and there was a parking spot at Jaime's!
Super nice hosts and I loved the golf course view right across from my patio! Orinda is so amazing not only are there trees/greenery every where but the neighbors actually look at you & say Good Morning or Hello with a smile! This short stay definitely gave me a new prospective: slow down & smell the roses :)
I absolutely loved Lush Orinda Hills home away from home. I spent 3 1/2 months here on a travel assignment and it was like being home. Jimmie and Freda are great company and hosts. It's literally a great walking community. My mother and sisters came out for a and just a week and they adored the place. Jimmie shared her spaces and stories with me. I would come back in a heart beat. Jimmie and Jamie responded to all me needs and requests promptly. I'll be sad to leave
Jamie's apartment was a great place to spend a month in the East Bay - great kitchen, nice views, lots of piece and quiet. They were fabulous hosts, and I very much recommend the apartment if you're looking for a short-term rental in the Bay Area.
I felt so comfortable and at home in the countryside here and Jamie and Jimmie did a wonderful job at making the experience so friendly and relaxing and safe. I had my two pups and my Dad come with me and we were cozy but very well taken care of with the kitchen, fridge and microwave, and a nice shower, desk for the laptops and the extra airbed. We had to move a few things around to fit but everything worked out fine. The sweet surroundings are very luxurious and private, and although it's a steep incline up the drive, it was wonderful to have a view and balcony to ourselves for an evening salad and glass of vino after our Berkeley workshop. The hospitality was so appreciated and I hope to return for another visit sometime. I really liked it and my pups felt welcome as well -- 5 stars!

About the Host, Jamie
This is a wonderful HUMAN experiment. Throw a bunch of creative individuals, strangers, from all corners of the World (potatoes), into the same proximity (pot), and see what happens. ( * m a g i c * )
As much as i love and make use of all the wonderful aspects of 'Virtual Life' (internet, texting, Facebook, twitter, etc.) there's nothing like a bunch of potatoes boiling together in a pot, rubbing, and the delicious flavorful soup that ensues.
It was the original inspiration for Wal*Art, Inc. - Purveyors of True Things – the creative space and Gallery (phone number hidden)) I founded whose 4000 square foot brick and mortar housed and sponsored many community, art, film, music, museum and social events.
I have been a photographer and filmmaker of one sort or another for all of my adult life. I have contributed significantly to the creation of such distinguished films as Echo Park, Reservoir Dogs, Secretary, and The Painted Veil,
I have long been fascinated with the concept of Boutique Hotel meets Parisienne Salon. Arden Pond, Hopewood, and it's various satellites, are creative, fun-loving, healthy and supportive environments. As a guest you can have as much privacy as you desire; and are also invited to join in various "house family" dinners or outings.
