This is the downstairs in-law unit of my mom's house. She is a lovely artist and Southern belle that enjoys a quiet life with her small dog Frida. We are reasonable, considerate folks and expect our guests to be the same. We expect the property and its contents to be respected, kept tidy and cared for. We are happy to resolve any issue or address any special needs. Good communication is the key.

Parking for guests is in front of the property on the street. The driveway must be kept clear for the owner as she is elderly and has difficulty traversing the steep driveway.

Guests are welcome to entertain in the unit but please clear any large or especially loud party activity with the owner in advance.

It was very peaceful and we rested well there. I enjoyed reading on the shady deck.

I had a lovely stay at Jamie's place! The apartment was clean and well organized, in the kitchen and throughout. I had no trouble parking in the space carved out of the hill in front. The residents upstairs, Jimmie and Jill were welcoming and helpful whenever I needed them. Cool little country place… Nicely done!

I would not recommend this location. It was noisy and main house was in a state of total disrepair. There was very poor and difficult access to the house and there was NO parking provided on this narrow windy street. I didn't feel the space was very clean...bath mats, small area rugs. The deck wasvery uneven and therefore completely unusable. On two different occasions there was no water for several hours. I had paid for 30 days but chose to leave early.

Response from Jamie:
I am terribly sorry to hear this Judy and I would have greatly appreciated being informed during your stay so that I would have been able to address the issues, improving your experience. Since I am not on site, and Mom has been convalescing from surgery, I have relied upon a professional cleaning service. By the pictures they sent, and our conversation when you checked in, all seemed in order. I have now taken the listing off airbnb until I can travel there and personally attend to the main house issues.

Not as described, noisy run down, no parking. Needs to attend to safety issues. Please tell tenant that they enter through garage where owners car is parked. An expensive rent $3200 for one month, and not worth it!

Upstairs noise travels very easily. Light sleepers may want to bring ear plugs.

My parents stayed there for a month and Jamie, her sister Jill and her mom Jimmie were all wonderful - my parents felt so welcomed and loved it, they would have stayed longer if the place wasn't already reserved for the subsequent weeks. Jimmie and Jill in the main house were pretty responsive whenever my folks had any questions or needed anything, and even went beyond the 'call of duty', including once helping my folks quickly get in touch with a doctor when they needed one. For their hospitality alone I would highly recommend it, but more than that the apartment itself is exactly as described: very spacious, comfy and tranquil. As other reviewers have mentioned it is most convenient if you have a car/rental since it's a bit of a hilly walk to/from the closest grocery store, but other than that it's one of the best values you'll get for places to stay in the bay area close to SF - I highly recommend it!

Our stay was three and a half months while waiting for our new home to be completed. Our hosts, Jimmie and Jill were so warm, welcoming, and concerned that our stay be comfortable. They are loveable characters. The location is wonderful, especially if you love to walk or cycle. Those of you who know the area know the neighborhood is older so a little shabby chic is the style. Small caution. The foot access is a bit steep for those for whom that's a concern.

This is a wonderful HUMAN experiment. Throw a combination of friends and travelers from all corners of the World (potatoes), each creative in their own special way (spices), into the same proximity (pot), and see what happens.

As much as I love and make use of all the wonderful aspects of 'Virtual Life' (internet, texting, social media, gazing endlessly into the deep blue screen :-), there's nothing like flavorful vegetables simmering, taking on each others’ aspects, together in the same ‘pot’, and the delicious ‘Human Stew’ that ensues.

Arden Pond is my personal residence. It is a 'compound' that houses the following listings within her gates: Hopewood, The Clubhouse, Sunny Central, Chill Artistic, Garden Room with View, Fun Artsy Spot and Budget Share. It is a place for people from everywhere to come together, create, collaborate and enjoy the pleasure of good conversation and real contact with other human beings. We have an international family of guests and on any given evening you likely find a happy bunch sitting in the communal outdoor living room - whether they are guests, friends or previous guests, it's a place of inspiration, love and sharing.

I have been an artist, photographer and filmmaker of one sort or another for all of my adult life. I have contributed significantly to the creation of such distinguished films as Reservoir Dogs, Secretary, and The Painted Veil, among others.

I have long been fascinated with the concept of Boutique Hotel meets Parisienne Salon. Arden Pond, Hopewood, and it's various satellites, are creative, fun-loving, healthy and supportive environments. As a guest you can have as much privacy as you desire; and are also invited to join in various "house family" dinners or outings.

Experience the MAGIC! Ask anyone who's stayed here!

Hope to see you soon!
