Connie and Andrew were great hosts and have an amazing home in Pāhoa that is truly enchanting. The decor was beautiful and the kitchen and bathroom was stocked with everything we needed to have a relaxing and fun few days/nights. Sunscreen? They had it. Pots and pans to cook dinner? They had that too. Beach mats and snorkel gear? Yep they had that as well. :)
Connie and Andrew were super informative of things to do around the island and were always available if we needed something. We felt very safe at the rainforest hideaway and already talked about wanting to visit again when we make another trip to the big island. Loved our stay and will recommend to friends and family!
Wow is this place amazing, like the bargain of the century amazing. I've seen similar properties at hotels renting for 500-800 a night and they'd be worth it if they're like this. You stay in the entire home, on a beautiful private property surrounded by tropical flowers and vegetation. There's an amazing outdoor shower, barbeque, deck chairs, robes to lounge around in, clawfoot tub, full kitchen, beautiful bed, amazing zen-like furnishings, etc etc!!!
The downside? You might not want to explore the Big Island when your accomodations are so inviting and beautiful. Tough life!
The windows are mostly screens, so you're goinng to hear the frogs at night and it may get cool inside, but just snuggle closer and put your earplugs (thoughtfully provided) in. We slept amazingly well every night we were there.
Hosts left a bottle of wine and a box of Mauna Loa macadamia nut chocolate for us, which was a really lovely touch. There are also a bunch of soaps and shampoos and suntan lotions which I guess were left by previous guests, so don't run out and buy a bunch before coming here. There also may be leftover coffee in the freezer, which is a nice surprise the first morning!
All in all I believe this is one of the best accomodations I've ever stayed in, at any price point.
Connie and Andrew were waiting for us at the property on arrival, showed us where to find many key items, how to work the wi-fi, and where to find beach supplies as well. The indoor and outdoor were as advertised, plus lovely landscaping appropriate for the jungle atmosphere, and several stunning fresh cut floral arrangements added charm. The kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked with many thoughtful details not found in most airbnb properties. We appreciated these. It's a peaceful place to settle in, with a counterpoint of the voluminous song of coqui frogs from dusk well into the night. The neighborhood at the time we stayed is mostly undeveloped early successional forest with a smattering of homes built into the forest here and there.
My husband and I enjoyed ten days at the Enchanting Rainforest Hideaway. From being warmly welcomed by our hosts to enjoying everything our jungle home and Big Island locale had to offer, we had a fantastic time.
The cottage is lovely, and exactly as described. Very private and in a beautiful setting. A lot of thought has gone into the equipping the kitchen and bathroom with everything a guest could need, and the cottage is spotlessly clean.
Very well situated for visits to Volcanoes National Park and for exploring beautiful Puna.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Connie and Andrew's place. It was a perfect setting to relax and enjoy Hawaiian life. Everything we needed for our stay was provided and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the house.
Truly wonderful, peaceful house in a beautiful setting. Great location for volcanoes, puna, hilo, and the coast. We will be back!
Fun loving couple, semi retired from the entertainment business, now living in the jungles of east Hawaii. World travelers, we spend most our days organic farming and building our rammed earth house. We live up the road from the Rainforest Hideaway on a separate property. Our friendly and well behaved dogs, Jackson and Frankie, often join us to greet our guests upon arrival. Andrew, originally from Australia, is a FEO Officer and tanker driver for the Hawaiian Paradise Park Volunteer Fire Department and Connie is a yoga instructor at a local yoga retreat.
