  • As if this place needed one more glowing review...

It's magical. Whether you're taking a filtered-rainwater bath in the clawfoot tub while listening to the "coki" frogs, eating fresh tropical fruit in the fully-equipped kitchen, taking a wonderful shower in the beautiful garden, relaxing in the practically-open air living room or reclining on the lovely bed, everything is wonderful. Not to mention the gorgeous, fresh gathered flower arrangements in every room! And the whole place is SPOTLESS and beautifully decorated.

We had a perfect time here, venturing out to local attractions during the day, forgoing electronics in favor of listening to the sounds of wildlife in the evening. We can only hope to return some day.

  • Andrew and Connie's rental really was enchanting!! It was secluded and beautiful, and exceeded our expectations. We were so happy to relax here at the end of our days travelling and exploring the Hilo side of the island. It was stocked with anything we could ever need. The huge kitchen was fantastic, and we cooked all of our meals. (We ate out only a couple of times!)
The frogs sung us to sleep, and there is a great tub to relax in. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to the Big Island!
The only thing we had trouble with was the internet activity. There is internet, but is nearly unusable, as it is so slow. It wasn't a big issue though; as soon as we felt enough internet withdrawal, we just headed to the Starbucks for a couple of hours.
There is a great vibe about this place. There are ohm symbols and Buddha statues everywhere, and the location is amazing. We had a great time!

  • This place is a dream. Exactly what you'd want it to be. Andrew and Connie are terrific hosts and we had a wonderful time. Would totally visit again.

  • This was our first time in Hawaii to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of lodging. Connie and Andrew were really helpful and friendly, and the cabin was exactly as advertised: clean, private and relaxing. We were greeted by Connie who gave us a tour of the place and made sure we knew everything we needed. After she left, we noticed 2 leis on the dinner table: it was a welcome gift! She also insisted that they were available 24h if we needed anything (we didn't need to call them, but it was reassuring to know this). We were left to our own devices after that and only saw Connie and Andrew when we went snorkeling.

All in all, we absolutely loved staying there - the outdoor shower is definitely the best feature! We would be back in a heartbeat!

Thank you Connie and Andrew for the lovely stay.

  • The house was absolutely beautiful! It was perfectly secluded yet close enough if my wife and I needed anything. The house was perfectly equipped with a full kitchen which we used to cook and prepare meals before our outings. We loved the outdoor shower and hearing the wildlife sing us to sleep. The amenities for the price was amazing.

  • We LOVED staying at Connie and Andrew's place. It was amazing - so private and so beautiful and clean. The location is a little out of the way but was perfect for us. They were very attentive to our needs. We will definetly return and recommend it to all our friends going to the Big Island.

  • Glamping in the Bush
A wonderful, surprisingly elegant and private rainforest retreat: immaculate, well-appointed, and very comfortable for two. We stayed four nights during the Merrie Monarch Festival, driving the 12 miles to Hilo every day.
A rental car is a must.
Surrounded by ohia forest with beautiful ornamental tropical landscaping on the perimeter of the property, the sound of birds and coqui frogs is all one hears. The coquis can be loud at night, but we slept right through them.
There is a fully equipped indoor bathroom, but the outdoor hot-water shower was one of our favorite features.
Connie met us at the property to provide a tour, and very complete instructions and many guidebooks on the Big Island are provided in the house.
    Great rainforest experience!

  • The cottage exceeded our expectations. It is exactly as described, sparkling clean in a secluded tropical setting. The location is convenient to both Hilo and Volcanoes NP. The local Sunday Farmers Market is not to be missed. A USB port is required for WiFi so we could not access with iPad or iPhones. No microwave, TV or radio but that was no big deal. We enjoyed comfortable living in the rainforest!

  • We had a lovely stay here. Connie and Andrew met us with leis and chocolates, and made themselves completely available if needed.

The cottage is charming and totally secluded thanks to the lush gardens. The kitchen was adequately equipped for preparing breakfasts and a special dinner in. The outdoor shower was a fun experience...now my husband wants one.

This place definitely became home for a few days and we were sad to leave. Thanks, Connie and Andrew, for sharing your special corner of Hawaii.

  • We have stayed on the Kona side of the island several times and always make a day trip to Hilo. This time we decided that we would stay for a couple of nights and found the Enchanted Rainforest Hideaway on Airbnb. The only thing negative we have to say is that we loved it so much we had to force ourselves to leave to get out and see the sites! Fresh tropical flowers in every room, the sounds of frogs, birds and warm rain, an outdoor shower, every little extra toiletry you could possibly need.... all this in the middle of a beautiful tropical jungle. We can't wait to go back and plan to stay longer next time.

Fun loving couple, semi retired from the entertainment business, now living in the jungles of east Hawaii. World travelers, we spend most our days organic farming and building our rammed earth house. We live up the road from the Rainforest Hideaway on a separate property. Our friendly and well behaved dogs, Jackson and Frankie, often join us to greet our guests upon arrival. Andrew, originally from Australia, is a FEO Officer and tanker driver for the Hawaiian Paradise Park Volunteer Fire Department and Connie is a yoga instructor at a local yoga retreat.
