Bed and breakfast in a beautiful and unusual "bastide" farmhouse in the Segala region of the Tarn, south-west France (70 miles from Toulouse).
40 euros is the price for 2 people sharing a room.
You will feel as if you have gone back in time to a quieter and more peaceful period with very few of today's stresses being present during your stay. All bedrooms lead out directly into the secluded and private large courtyard full of plants and flowers which all guests can use; sunbathing, sitting and relaxing, eating etc.with plenty of chairs, tables, loungers and a hammock
gardens covering almost 2 acres include flower beds, a small orchard, vegetable plots and newly planted forest gardens; with chairs, loungers and hammocks etc dotted about where you can tranquilly relax plus a hottub and various games such as boules, table tennis etc
There is also a large lounge and kitchen available for guests. The rooms are comfortable and homely. We have kept the original style and features of the farmhouse and while the rooms are comfortable and well furnished they are rustic with an individual and old world feel. You are staying in someone's home, not an anonymous place.
During your stay you can, if you want to,share the daily life here a bit and for instance have dinner with us (just discuss it in the morning)
My home is in a small hamlet of 8 houses, very picturesque and rural, and an ideal centre from which to explore the beautiful countryside. You can walk directly into the surrounding hills and valleys and continue as far as you desire. Or you could walk down to the river Viaur for a swim (or 5-10 minutes drive) or take one of my canoes. The countryside is beautiful and secluded and a haven for wildlife.
The nearest village with shops is 5-10 minutes drive while there are many picturesque and charming villages nearby and many restaurants and cafes a short drive away. Also Albi a UNESCO world heritage site and a very beautiful and interesting town is 40 minutes drive. Every weekend during the spring and summer there will be a festival in some nearby village or town- often good fun and an insight into local life.
There is no public transport to my hamlet but if you do not have a car i am happy to arrange 'pick ups' from the nearby railway station. And i will be delighted to give you recommendations and advice to help you enjoy your stay in the area
Sitting in the courtyard you can often feel far away from the cares and preoccupations of everyday life and in a timeless world apart as if you have slipped back a century or two
