LOCATION Garnethill is a small, friendly, cosmopolitan neighbourhood located to the west side of the city centre. Without even leaving our little patch you can see world famous architecture (Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Glasgow School of Art), travel back in time (Tenement House museum), eat the best curry in Glasgow (The Wee Curry Shop), catch a movie at our very own independent, art house cinema (The GFT), check out cutting edge contemporary visual art and performance (CCA) and finish up listening to some (email hidden) set (Saramago terrace bar).
TRANSPORT Conveniently located close to the M8, the subway (5mins walk) and only 15/20 minutes walk to the main train and bus stations. Not only is getting to and from our flat very simple but trips outside Glasgow are easily accessible too. Edinburgh is only a 45 minute train journey, with trains every 30 minutes. There are regular bus services close to the flat and a 24hr taxi rank within 2 minutes walk.
THEATRE/ART/MUSEUMS Walking distance from all Glasgow’s major theatres, art venues and museums.
SHOPPING The flat is only 10 minutes walk from Buchanan Street, the UK’s second most popular shopping street. There are several convenience stores nearby for groceries and drinks, while most local restaurants will deliver to your door.
EATING OUT Come and sample - from the ultra hip to the totally traditional – and the best thing is that you can stroll home at the end of your evening.
NIGHTLIFE/MUSIC The flat is literally round the corner from Glasgow’s top clubs and music venues.
PARKS/WALKS Kelvingrove Park, River Kelvin walkway and the Forth and Clyde Canal path are all close by and are perfect for a morning run or afternoon stroll.
Contact me with any questions and we look forward to meeting you.
I would like guests to treat the flat as their home away from home.
No smoking and no pets.
Remove outdoor shoes at the door.
Wash and put away all dishes at the end of the stay.
Place used towels in bathtub.
Leave keys in coat-stand drawer in hall before departure.
The flat is in a traditional tenement building so I would expect guests to respect other neighbours living in the close; in particular, no noise late at night.
Final rule: Relax, enjoy my cozy flat and have a great visit to Glasgow.
Stayed 6 weeks and loved every moment spent in the flat. Fell in love with the place at first sight! Julie was very friendly and helpful, making sure that we were comfortable throughout our whole stay.
Situated between west end and the city centre, which are both approx 10 minutes walk away. Plenty of shops and cafes nearby! The walk home might be a little hilly, but what awaits back at the flat is totally worth the workout.
Meeting Julie and her family was the best thing that happened to us throughout our Glasgow experience. Won't hesitate to come back again if given the chance!
This flat is amazing. It is very spacious and neat. Walking distance to the West End and City Center
Julie was a one of the greatest hosts I have ever met. Went above and beyond what you would expect. Julie gave me tips, guilds you name it to make my stay more comfortable.
There is no where else i would want to stay if i was in Glasgow.
THIS WAS A GREAT FLAT, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. WARM AND CLEAN, PERFECT FOR THE 4 OF US. VERY REASONABLE. JULIE EVEN STAYED LATER, AS OUR FLIGHT WAS DELAYED.
We had a lovely stay in Julie's flat. Great position in Glasgow for walking the town. The flat is warm, friendly and well equipped. Wish we could have had a rainy week there to appreciate the books. Julie helped with local knowledge. The car ended up a little way away in the rain but we didn't want to use it anyway. Thank you Julie. We would like to come back some day.
Flat is amazing and Julie was pure gallas. Unfortunately I think the flat is coming off airbnb soon :( otherwise I'd write more wonderful things about it.
What a hip and charming place this is! We felt at home instantly after the nice welcome talk by super-friendly Julie! Thanks again! There was milk, there was coffee and there was internet: that's all the modern city nomad needs. But there was more: a friendly-stylish local background against which everybody looks extremely good, cozy bedrooms and a zen-like bathroom oasis, fantastic books (you don't often find that in holiday homes!), Jamie Oliver spices and even a far-reaching view. The only barrier within walking distance is the concrete aftermath of 60's traffic planning: the spaghetti-like intertwining motorway creates the urban sound fabric we tended to ignore later on... This apartment is sure worth a stay - and your calves will look better than ever after walking over the steep hill it is situated upon! Thumbs up!
The flat was extremely comfortable, nicely decorated and well-suited. Lots and lots of towels, essentials in the kitchen, very comfortable beds, peace and quiet were the best bits. Julie was very helpful on arrival and gave us lots of brilliant pointers. We were in Glasgow for a wedding so didn't have particular expectations of the city, but she managed to get us really excited about going out and exploring what turned out to be a really interesting and friendly city. We would thoroughly recommend this property.
I was born in Glasgow and, after working as a research scientist in London and New York, returned home in 2000. Currently building an eco-house in the north of Scotland with my husband and 3 kids.
As a family we love to travel wherever and whenever we can. Unfortunately, we are on a very limited travel budget this year because of the house build so no fab airbnb trips for us. On the plus side, airbnb hosting has given us a great perk of travel for free – meeting loads of new and interesting people without even leaving Glasgow.
