  • We stayed in this beautiful little place for 3 nights. It is nested in the forest and surrounded by a beautiful garden full of flowers and trees. Amazing beach across the road. And plenty of space in the living room. I warmly recommend it!

  • This house was incredible. The location and surroundings were unbelievable, with the rainforest literally in your backyard and a beautiful beach in your front yard. The house, too was fantastic. Spotlessly clean and furnished with everything you need (even down to the little things like mini soaps and shampoos in the toilet and locally made tea and sugar in the kitchen. There is a nice sitting area with a tv and a DVD collection where you can chill out and relax and after a day of hiking and exploring the beautiful area. The rooms were nice with fresh, clean linens and towels and comfortable mattresses. There are even laundry facilities out back.

Virtually all the walls in the house are open so there is always an abundance of natural light and fresh air. And other than the two small bungalows out front, there aren't any other houses nearby, so you really get the full experience of living in the jungle.

Karen and Drew were great as well. We never met them, as they live off site, but they were always great about giving directions and helping us out whenever we called them. They also left plenty of information about the area and tours and activities offered if we wanted.

For six young travelers from various parts of the world who are used to the cramped, dirty, and hectic hostel lifestyle, this house was a little piece of heaven that I for one didn't want to leave!

  • Thanks Karen and Drew for letting us stay in your beautiful Thornton Beach house! The house was spacious, clean, homely, private and filled with natural lighting. It was so handy having a large kitchen that was well stocked and the house being surrounded by a beautiful garden and the rainforest made us consistently feel miles away from stress and work.

As hosts, Karen and Drew were extremely friendly, accommodating, flexible, helpful and generous with their time. Thank you both for providing us with handy tips about the area, maps to help us get around and for welcoming us into the area with a smile and hospitality. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to our friends and would certainly come to stay again. Thanks again, we had an incredible time! Jenn & Will

  • What a lovely house to stay in. A very different experience for us. While being in the middle of nowhere, was close to all the things we needed. Everything we needed was provided and Karen and Drew. They made sure we were comfortable and offered their help with anything we needed. Thornton Beach is a lovely place to spend some time.

  • Our stay at Karen and Drew's beach house was wonderful! The beach house had everything we needed, and then some....including laundry. The location was perfect, with easy access to the beach, and the kiosk across the road gave goodd meal options...(the lleaf blowerr iss not REALLY a problem!)Even though we were there during rainy season, Karen and Drew gave us good advice on what to see and do. The creek swimming holes were so refreshing after the hikes in the rainforest! We would love to visit again!
