Our spacious, fully screened, open style beach house is primarily glass louvres to make the most of the views of the Coral Sea and surrounding rainforest. With tiles throughout, it gives the house a cool, spacious feel and was designed to make the most of the sea breeze. There's 2 bedrooms with a king bed in the master bedroom and 2 singles which can be zipped together to form a king, in the 2nd bedroom. We also have 2 day beds off the lounge room for extras.
The price of $250.00 is for 4 people. Extra adults are $50.00 and children 4-14 yrs are $25.00 per night.
We have a fully self contained kitchen with fridge and gas stove and the slate bathroom is open to the surrounding rainforest. Relax on the verandah listening to the sounds of the ocean and watching the world go by.
There's loads of tours and activities to do in the Daintree to keep you busy, as well as miles of beaches to explore and fresh water swimming holes to cool off in. You'll find restaurants 15 minutes drive north and south of Thornton Beach and a cafe across the road. A convenience store is a 5 minute drive down the road.
The Daintree area is the largest self sustainable area in Australia. There is no mains power north of the Daintree River and our eco friendly beach house is solar powered. Thornton Beach House is just across the road from one of the best beaches on the Daintree Coast. We are nestled between the Daintree World Heritage National Park – the oldest tropical rainforest in the world – and the Great Barrier Reef.
Please leave the place how you found it!!
An amazing spot with the jungle for the garden and the beach just across the road! Easy to find and park, great facilities just up the road, we chose jungle surfing which was fab!
The house is very clean and tidy with airy, open plan living and a great garden to look out onto, a very relaxing time :-)
Absolutely amazing house, surroundings and hosts. The communication was spot on, and our holiday was more than we could have dreamed of. Would definitely come again. Thanks *****
My family and I had an amazing stay at Karen and Drew's place. Their home was just lovely, set in the gorgeous rainforest and so close to the beach. We would really recommend their place to relax and unwind in an Eco friendly environment. Thank you.
Everything ran smoothly and according to our agreements. The house and garden is a lovely little paradise on the edge of the Daintree Rainforest and only a hop away from the beach. In case you need it, internet and phone connections are a bit of a problem up in that northern area, and you need to visit one of nearby the restaurants to get wifi. We had a lovely stay there and a very competent guide through the Daintree Rainforest is Neil from Cooper Creek Wildernes which is only a 5 minute drive away from Karan & Drews house.
We stayed in this beautiful little place for 3 nights. It is nested in the forest and surrounded by a beautiful garden full of flowers and trees. Amazing beach across the road. And plenty of space in the living room. I warmly recommend it!
This house was incredible. The location and surroundings were unbelievable, with the rainforest literally in your backyard and a beautiful beach in your front yard. The house, too was fantastic. Spotlessly clean and furnished with everything you need (even down to the little things like mini soaps and shampoos in the toilet and locally made tea and sugar in the kitchen. There is a nice sitting area with a tv and a DVD collection where you can chill out and relax and after a day of hiking and exploring the beautiful area. The rooms were nice with fresh, clean linens and towels and comfortable mattresses. There are even laundry facilities out back.
Virtually all the walls in the house are open so there is always an abundance of natural light and fresh air. And other than the two small bungalows out front, there aren't any other houses nearby, so you really get the full experience of living in the jungle.
Karen and Drew were great as well. We never met them, as they live off site, but they were always great about giving directions and helping us out whenever we called them. They also left plenty of information about the area and tours and activities offered if we wanted.
For six young travelers from various parts of the world who are used to the cramped, dirty, and hectic hostel lifestyle, this house was a little piece of heaven that I for one didn't want to leave!
