About This Listing
Enjoy this cozy bedroom in a Civil War-era farmhouse on 2+ acres one mile from Princeton University campus and downtown Princeton. Feel at home with our extra comfy beds, fully-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, large garden, bikes and nature trails.
Your bedroom includes a queen-size bed, a dresser, and a generous closet. A memory foam twin XL mattress pulls out from under the bed to accommodate a third person. A full, Jack and Jill-style bathroom adjoins your room and is shared with another guest room. (Rent both rooms and have a private bath--perfect for groups or families!) There is a second, shared bath downstairs. Sheets, towels, toiletries and a bathrobe are available for your convenience and comfort.
Our house is situated on two and a quarter acres of sprawling lawn and 100+ year-old sugar maples, oaks, and pines. The house currently looks more 1950s than 1860s, but we hope in time to restore and reveal the house’s old bones. We are also currently working to replace some of the traditional, suburban landscaping with an organic fruit, vegetable, and flower garden). We keep chickens. Our property adjoins a nature preserve (great for trail running and walking).
You'll share with us a kitchen, dining room, living room, deck, and sprawling backyard.
We've got a fully stocked self-serve breakfast & snack bar available throughout the day (cereals, fruit, yogurt, jam, tea, coffee, fresh eggs, sausage with many gluten-free/vegan/paleo options) and a kitchen with plenty of space for your groceries.
Cable TV + Netflix / Amazon Prime. High-speed Wifi both indoors and throughout most of the property. Board games. Lawn games. Chickens, flower garden, vegetable garden, young fruit trees & berries.
Ample parking. A limited number of bikes with helmets and locks are available for your use. Washer and dryer are in the basement.
Interaction with Guests
We're a busy academic couple who enjoy opening our home to visitors from around the world. We rent several rooms, which means the house is always a little busy. Sometimes, we eat meals with our guests or a share a bottle of wine. There have been nights when the whole house has come together in fun and merriment around an open fire and guests leave life-long friends. At other times, we are scarce – traveling or hunkering down for a deadline or Jen may be experiencing a flare of her illness, in which case we appreciate your self-sufficiency. Sometimes our house is gorgeous and perfect. Sometimes, it's a little cluttered, the sheets are rumpled, and we run out of milk. In other words, it's a home. Every day is different, every stay is different. If you are looking for a professional hotel or bed and breakfast experience, this is probably not the right place for you. But if you'd like to stay in a pretty spot not too far from town and campus, close to nature, and with the possibility of being delighted, we look forward to hosting you!
We are located one mile from the main gates of campus (a 20 minute walk or 6 minute bike ride).
Cut through our woods and find a path that leads you into the Community Park, Mountain Lakes, and John Witherspoon Woods nature preserves: 208 acres of deciduous forest, a breathtaking reservoir, and open meadows. Great for runners, walkers and bikers.

Omar and Jen were incredibly helpful and kind to me as their guest. Their home is clean, well-organized, and inspires creativity and exploration of the local community. I highly recommend staying with them if you are in the area.
This was my first airbnb stay, and should probably be my last because I really don't know how others could beat this experience.
Wonderful guest house experience! The hosts were warm, welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere with the other guests was friendly, intimate and social, with everyone chatting over breakfast. The breakfast selection was lovely, including fresh eggs from the hens. It was raining heavily and Omar kindly offered to give a couple of us a ride into town. I'd definitely stay here again - far nicer than a hotel.
I'm a returning visitor. The hospitality, the nature view, and location are all great as before. Thank you, Jennifer.
The home is lovely with a very furnished kitchen and a special attention to a variety of choices for breakfast. My room was, exactly as the picture suggests, very broad, clean and furnished with the nice mixture of design and farmhouse style that is in all the house. I met Jennifer and Omar only for a couple of days of my stay, but they have been very welcome and caring. The house is a little far away by foot but they gave me a bike that made everything easy to reach. I will definitely come back if I have to stay in Princeton again.
My son and I were touring colleges and stayed two nights with Jennifer and Omar. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Omar during our stay. They are very organized and made it easy for us to make ourselves at home. We very much appreciated that there was an A/C unit in our room that we could control since it was quite warm and humid during our stay. Would definitely stay there again.

About the Host, Jennifer
I've recently moved to Princeton with my husband who is a professor. I'm an academic turned documentary filmmaker and sometimes homesteader.
This year we've harvested from our property: wild greens, berries, all sorts of vegetables, chestnuts (the most amazing you've ever tasted!), maple syrup, and the loads of fresh eggs daily.
This year we've seen on our property: loads of wild birds, vultures, hawks, great horned owls (they eat our poor chickens but make the most amazing sounds at night), deer, rabbits, groundhogs, and several species of turtles.
