The space
A charming log cabin in Ylläs national park, Lapland's premiere holiday destination. The cottage is fully equipped with kitchen, fireplace, TV & DVD, sauna, shower, dishwasher, washing machine, drying cabinet. Bedroom, loft with 3 single beds and a sofa bed - sleeping space for up to six people. Everything you need for your perfect wonderful holiday in Lapland!

In order to improve the guest experience and offer better value for money, a new kitchen has been installed and floors have been painted in October 2025. Hence the pictures on AirBnb reflect a more rustic ambience. The new kitchen is modern with integrated appliances and improved functionality. The floor has been painted light gray. New photos are being arranged.

Northern Lights are most visible from the end of August to April in northern Finland. Auroras, caused by solar winds, occur year-round but the nights need to be dark enough for us to be able to catch a glimpse of this phenomenal light show. Autumn and spring are active Northern Lights seasons.

Many people associate the Northern Lights with winter, but the most active seasons are actually autumn and spring. This is when the earth’s orientation towards the sun maximizes the probability of solar flares interacting with the planet’s magnetic field, which creates this mesmerizing phenomenon. Statistically, the lights are visible on every second night.

First snow usually falls by the end of October, at latest early November.

Kolari, Lapland, Finland

The chalet is located conveniently midway in between the Ylläsjärvi village center and the ski slopes. The lit ski tracks are only 50 meters away from the cottage. Despite it's central location the chalet is very peaceful. A few other similar cottages exist nearby. The view from the cottage, over the Ylläs fell is excellent.
