About this listing
Holiday flat in Switzerland/ Graubuenden
Location: CH-7027 Castiel (situated in the valley of Schanfigg), distance 9km from Chur, Kanton Graubuenden
Our house was build in the 1840th and is situated in the middle of the small upper part of the village Castiel. Its surrounded by similar wooden houses of the same period of the 18th and 19th century. So you can find here a typical village of that region of the Swiss Alps.
We carefully renovated the house in 2011 completely, separating it in two apartements, adding two modern bathrooms established in the former cattle shed, installing a central heating system based on wood pellets and a warm water system based on solar power.
The character of the building was safed as much as possible so that the interior is almost completely original from the 19th century.
The position on the southslope of the Schanfigg-mountains and above the low land fog results in a fantastically sunny location all year round.
Holiday flat upper level:
Separate entrance via balcony (sun in the morning until 2p.m.), 2 bedrooms with double bed each. All rooms except the kitchen downstairs and the bathrooms feature with the original timber piles from the 19th century.

We loved our stay in Klaus apartment downstair.
The apartment was well prepared and it's really well equipped. Its located in a charming spot of Castiel.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
Super cozy apartment, we didn't want to leave anymore. Wheb they say they have a fully equipped kitchen, believe them! There is EVERYTHING you may need. Wonderful surroundings, we did some hiking around and it was beautiful and peaceful. The woman who gave us the keys was very friendly and also gave us some salad and sone advice about where to go and to find things. Thank you!

We stayed in the upstairs apartment for a week and just loved it. It was great for 2 couples from Australia and every room is so well appointed and yet you are staying in an old Swiss cottage. The village of Castiel is very picturesque and there a some very nice walks up and down the hills around the village, particularly the one that goes down to Luen through the forest. The sound of cow bells really lets you know you are in the Swiss countryside. We were very lucky with the weather in October and saw the deciduous trees get their autumn colours in the week we were there. Simona and Stephan were very friendly and we enjoyed the food we bought from them and also the fresh organic produce that we bought in the village. We were able to explore the region around Chur and take a trip on the Bernina Express during the week. We agree with other reviewers who have said how much they enjoyed their stay in Castiel.
